I LOVE spring at the Farmer's Market. I'm so excited about my big ol' bag of produce, I just had to share. I got strawberries, apples, raspberries, oranges, potatoes, swiss chard, asparagus, broccoli, onions, sugar peas, and spinach - all locally farmed, perfectly ripe and ready to eat.
I just had a big fruit salad with watermelon, strawberries, and raspberries - its amazing to me how much of an "I need sweetness" craving you can satisfy with 100 calories of good, fresh, ripe, locally grown fruit.
Anyone have a good recipe for sugar peas? Otherwise, I'll just eat them raw...a little bit of Trader Joes LF parmesan ranch and I'm good to go.
If you have a farmers market near you, Spring has sprung and you'll find some great produce for cheap - our market was particularly abundant today with strawberries, asparagus, chard, green onion, and early garlic, along with apples and oranges which are grown year round in this area. So if you have one, go and pick up something yummy to snack on!
(forgive my enthusiasm - I always get into a post Farmers Market frenzy)
