I decided I need to eat more fruit (especially apples) but I don't like the cold feeling on my teeth. I cored and sliced up a Gala apple (including skin) and microwaved the slices for 30 seconds. I then put a tablespoon of tahini (ground sesame seed paste) into a small dish and dipped the slightly warm apple slices in it - yum! The warm apple really brought out the flavor of the Tahini.
Tahini tastes a bit like almond butter and is incredibly good for you. It comes in a can and you need to stir it up before you use it as the oil rises to the top. It's high in calories though (100 cals per tbsp.) so you don't want to go overboard.
This makes a healthy and delicious snack for about 170 calories.
I do the same thing except I use ground cinnamon and a little vanilla extract. Bake it in the oven until apples get soft and warm. Dip for me is a bit of non-fat cool whip. Tastes just like hot apple pie! (especially if you also throw in a small piece of graham cracker!)
Mmmmm - that sounds good, I'll have to give it a try. Lots less calories than a slice of apple pie! Cinnamon is supposed to keep your blood sugar on an even keel - another good thing to eat that's good for you! I stir some cinnamon into my oatmeal and it's a real treat.
I find that I enjoy apples best when they are not cold. For some reason they taste so much better to me slightly warm.
