Question Recipe request - Oriental Cabbage Salad

I apologize, because this recipe might very well be in here somewhere, but I'm not that computer literate to perform a search right now!

I tried a salad last week, Oriental Cabbage Salad. The only problem was that it had a lot of oil in it. It had shredded cabbage, sunflower seeds, and a package of Ramen Oriental noodles in it. You then mixed the veggie oil with the seasoning packet and poured it over top. Does anyone have a healthier version of this salad? It was really yummy, but I would like it to be a bit lighter.

Thanks for any responses!

Hi Bugle

I haven't personally tried this recipe but thought it might be something along the lines of what you are looking for.

Tobey

Oriental Salad

1 package ramen noodles, broken
1/2 head cabbage, shredded
4 green onions, chopped
1/2 cup roasted sunflower seeds
1/2 cup FF Italian dressing (if possible get a low sodium variety since the seasoning package is already quite salty)
2 teaspoons honey
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 seasoning packet from ramen noodles

In large bowl, combine raw noodles, shredded cabbage, chopped onions, & sunflower seeds.

For dressing, mix Italian dressing, honey and lemon juice. Add seasoning from packet and mix well. Add to salad and toss well.

I make this fairly often and just love it. It is very filling. One of my favorites.

Thank you SO MUCH! This is exactly what I was hoping for. The original recipe I had called for 1/2 CUP of veggie oil. UGH! I can't wait to make this on the weekend.

Again, thank you for posting this recipe!

I make a version of this salad as well, and eat for lunch almost every day.

1/2 head of purple cabbage
1/2 of green cabbage (or all of one or the other)
3 stems green onion chopped
fresh mushrooms as many as you like
toasted almonds (optional)
sprinkle of sesame seeds (optional)
1 package of Ichiban noodles crushed

Dressing:
1/4 cup of oil
1/2 cup of Ultra low fat Italian dressing Or house dressing
tablespoon of soy sauce
Ichiban noodle packet
1/2 tsp of sugar
Mix and pour over

UMMM very good
