Does accidental walking count for people trying to do at least a certain amount of steps everyday. Like for instance I go to school everyday and I walk up and down stairs a few times but I know I walk quite a bit just throughout the day in general(with a 15-20lb backpack on my back lol). If I were to keep a pedometer on me all day, could I count those or does the exercise have to be completely intentional?
"Incidental" walking does indeed count, and increasing it is a great way to add to your total daily exercise. Many people do carry pedometers with them, and then try to increase their total number of steps gradually by doing things such as parking further away from the store or work doors, and things like that.
