Gardening and landscaping as exercise
This past spring and the first part of summer I stopped going to the gym. I stopped strength training and step classes and worked in my yard instead.
Now I did gain five pounds, but that was more to do with my eating than the lack of classes.
I just went back to classes after MONTHS off and for strength training I'm about where I left off for most muscle groups and I lost just a little bit in step class. I think most of those losses were from the month long vacation to Europe than the gardening at home.
Last year I did the same thing. I stopped going to the gym and went to the yard. Last spring was my fastest rate of weight loss I have had yet.
My yard got beautified, I got some vitamin D the natural way and I got natural ways of exercise in. I highly recommend it (though I don't recommend the poison ivy I got more than once!)
You can see the fruits of my labors in my blog today. Just thought I would put it out there that movement doesn't have to be a gym class or running. There are lots of way to get fit and stay active!
