I guess I'm in a bit of a funk. I don't know what I want. I want to come off of my antidepressants for a few reasons. They don't seem to be doing much for me anymore, though I admit that I'm sure they have done something based on the fact that I don't think about the same awful things I used to. I also want to have another baby. Mine will be 4 in a few days. Wondering if I want that big of a gap between my kids. I seem incapable of making any real decisions... but I'm tired of walking around, half alive, with no affect. I realize that should be better than being sad all the time, but at least then I felt SOMETHING. I'm also worried about what going off of them will do to my weight... (okay, this is a big jumbled mess )

It doesnt sound like your anti-depressents are working for you..you might need a different type of anti-depressent but i wouldnt get off of it inless you have a doctor who can look into a different one to try..cause feeling uncontrollable and having your emotions and anxiety and depression running high makes it a lot more difficult to focus on how to make things better.. Right now your mental health is more important than losing weight..i guarentee once your feeling happier and feeling a little less jumbled, you will be able to attack the weight loss issue way more effectively.

Thanks so much porthardygurl. Most days are better than yesterday was, so I might have posted a little more than my "norm". I also attribute some of my blah-ness to "that time of month" but, yes, I will be working closely with my doctor should I decide to wean myself off these meds. And fortunately I have wonderful family and friend support close by in case I should slip and not notice.

"that time of month" can make things worse, definitely affects depression, making you feel more down than usual. It is great as well that you have wonderful support from friends and family. I have support from my family but not too much from friends. Wish you all the best whoknew! Will you be trying a different antidepressant after weaning off the current meds or are you planning to wean antidepressants off for life? Was just wondering. Whatever the decision is, I wish you all the best!

oops! i kinda lost track of where i was posting. esha- my plan is to try to be off of antidepressants completely. i'm not sure that i will succeed, but you never know until you try. i'm glad to hear that you have family support, and sorry to hear not so much from your friends. i'm sure that's hard. for me, i notice that the only support i get is when i'm honest with them instead of trying so hard to hide it all and pretend everything is just fine (duh me! lol) best wishes to you as well!
