I'm not sure exactly where to post this thread, but I can relate to you guys the best so I wanted to post it here. I visited a friend I haven't seen in almost a year for a few days last week and in the process I gained back 5 pounds. That's half of what I'd previously lost, so it's really depressing (but at the same time motivates me not to let anything get me off track again!). Anyway, I was hoping to be at 130 lbs by the end of August, but I don't think that's going to happen. My question for you guys is do you think that trying to lose 15 lbs in the next 30 days or so is too much too quickly? The 10 I had already lost happened in a month, so this seems possible but also like it could be pushing my body too hard. What are your thoughts?
Given your current weight it's definitely fast. However, I'd be willing to bet that much of the 5 lb gain will come off faster. So I don't think it would be unreasonable to hope for slightly more than your initial 10 pounds in a month.
Thanks for both of your replies I decided to start the Atkins diet, which is supposed to help you shed about 15 pounds in the first two weeks (thought it probably does depend on your starting weight), so it looks like I'll be losing a significant amount in a shorter amount of time anyway.
Middle of the 3rd day - I've already lost 2 pounds. I haven't cheated at all. I've actually eaten a few less carbs than the maximum amount allowed because I'm just not hungry enough to keep eating, but I'm not sure how much that has affected my weight loss so far.
I have been Unfortunately I had several Advantage bars, which were supposed to be perfectly ok, but seem to have stalled my weight loss. I tried them after the first two days (during which I had lost 2 pounds) and have only lost 1 more pound over the last 6 days, which could be normal but I'm guessing isn't. I'm blaming it on the bars and am cutting them from my diet.
I believe that the low carb part of the diet shrinks fat cells which is why a lot of the weight loss is water weight, but exercise zaps away those fat cells, and since they've already shrunk it's easier to burn them off. I'm not positive if that's true, since I don't remember where I read it, but I think it is.

Those bars were a real downfall to me on Atkins, as soon as I found them then that was it - no weight loss
