Default Trouble staying within Macros

Does anyone else have trouble staying within their carbs/fats/proteins? I don't know why but I never get it exact.

What are your macros set at? Are you counting macros specifically are do you just have some percentages you're trying to stay close to? Is there one particular macro you keep going over?

From my experience when I can't get the macros to work it's because I'm trying to plug in foods that I would prefer to eat rather than foods I should be eating.

I'm assuming that the macros you're trying to meet are reasonable. If you're trying to eat high protein, for example, and you're still eating a lot of carbs while meeting those protein goals it can be hard if not impossible to stay within your caloric allotment.

My macros are set according to myfitnesspal. Goals: 50% Carbs, 30% Fats and 20% Proteins.
I usually go over proteins a little and hardly ever meet fats , i'm always low on fats

Ugh YES.

I set my targets at 30% protein, 20% carbs, 50% fat on the advice of my nutrition counselor, to help avoid lean mass loss as I lose weight.

But eating 157 grams of protein per day is IMPOSSIBLE.

I've had days where I've eaten protein at every meal and like 16 oz of fish is one sitting, and I have NEVER ONCE met my protein target. I average around 22% protein.

But you know what? I'm eating a lot more protein that I was before I started trying, and I'm managing to stay over 100g most days. And if I lose some lean mass it's really not that big a deal; it means I will be slimmer and lighter when I get down to my ideal body fat percent. Yes, it will be a bit harder to maintain, but I'm losing weight very slowly which should help to temper any regain.

I try not to worry about it too much.

When I used to track my macros, my diet used to look like this. A LOT OF OILY FISH. It really only matters if you are bodybuilding though to track at such a level of detail.

I would change the goals in MFP and up the protein to 30%. But don't stress too much about it. It's not the end of the world if you don't hit them exactly.
