Default Thanx But No Thanx (small rant)

altho im not gonna knock those diets they are just that to me a "quick fix" and not something feasable or cost effective for me or my family in the long run. It seems the new phrase is ~ your obviously doing great but have u heard about (enter diet here) its so quick n only costs (enter amount)... now mind u these r people ive known a long time n i know they mean well n they know i speak my mind/piece tactfully n jokingly to start with n im trying for the thanx but no thanx approach but my inner B**** is clawing to get out! i dont push my ways on them n i wish they would do the same. we talked about other things before so why not now? almost makes me want to avoid everyone just to keep peace. HELP!

I personally have looked at Atkins, South Beach, Medifast...they all seem like I could stick to them for two weeks, maybe a month before I'd be going crazy.

The best part about calorie counting is that, right now at my weight, I don't have to worry so much about carbs. I just have to eat a certain number of calories to lose weight. Eventually I'll just add macronutrient counting onto my calorie counting.

I don't have to eat what some book tells me, I don't have to go through any detox phases. Those diets just aren't for me. Calorie counting is sustainable for my lifestyle. I like that I can work anything into my day if I really want it. Cake? **** yes. Ice cream, chocolate, bread...anything as long as I count those calories.

Someday I'll have to be a little more careful and maybe, if I had a treat the day before, go easy on sugar the next day. I can see myself doing that. I can't see myself going for long on a pre-set diet.

Anyways, that's just me. The reality is that for most overeaters any diet, including calorie counting, is hard. You're fighting yourself, not a lack of knowledge or an inability to eat the right foods. So I'd rather do calorie counting.

But, I know that if I stuck to just about any diet I would see a loss. The point is that you need a plan you can stick to for a very very long time.

Counting calories is free, and effective. Why waste money? Even WW seems like a waste when. Compared to the freeness of just good ol calorie counting.

I am getting pretty close to goal and I am still getting advice on how to lose weight. People are strange! Sometimes I just want to be rude and say something like call me after you lose the first hundred and we'll trade tips. But I think mostly people have their hearts in the right place so I just smile and nod alot.

I actually save money in the long run by calorie counting- I don't have to buy any fancy foods, and am eating less, so my grocery bill has gone down.

To me, it's just incredible that weight loss should cost money- you're eating less! However, I understand why people would want to pay for a support system and for someone else's expertise. I don't begrudge the people who pay to lose weight.

In the past I spent a lot of money on diets, they did not work any better than calorie counting.

To make things fair, I have to admit that I used to suggest calorie counting to people when I first started out and was in the honeymoon phase of it....super excited to the point where I became a blabbermouth about it. These days, I don't say anything unless they specifically ask. I find that if I don't talk about weight at all then it is a lot less likely to come up. Just change the subject and hopefully they'll get the hint.

We for me I have paid for expensive diets and foods before. I am thrilled for those they work for and are able to keep their weight off. I have spent bundles though on everything from weight loss center programs, pills, shakes and different carb programs but nothing kept it off for me after the fact. I figure this way I am just changing me for the most part not what I fix for my family. I will have to watch my junk and portion control but this is realistic to me because it will be the way we eat after I lose as well.

Calorie counting-cheap and effective. Glad we all agree this is something we can all afford and stick to for the long haul!
