Default How much for a new tummy?

I was just wondering about tummy tucks. I have been thinking that when I lose all my weight I will definitely need one. For anyone who has had one or has gotten a consultation on it, how much does it cost? I want to start saving up now for it so when it comes time I can just go ahead and do it!
Thanks for the help!

Hi Krissy!

The costs of a tummy tuck are going to vary quite a bit, depending on the area of the country you're in. California prices are the highest, and New York City is right about the same place. The middle of the country and smaller towns are probably cheaper.

Just to give you a ballpark idea ... the 2006 Average Surgeons Fees (these do not include operating room, hospital, anesthesia, or miscellaneous expenses) from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons for an abdominoplasty is $5063, and the total estimated costs including everything is in the $6000 - 8000 range (it could be higher since it's been more than a year since I checked those numbers). Check out this thread for more info: Weight Loss And Skin FAQs.

Best of luck to you!

Krissy-- I just wanted to say that don't let the surgery or the cost of it keep you from focusing on your first goal of losing the weight. Surgery is painful and expensive and the mere thought of it can be daunting and discouraging. Don't let it get to you. Don't think about it right now-- just focus on losing the weight and worry about the rest later! I for one didn't have any conception that I would: 1.) Lose as much weight as I did, and 2.) Need any surgery to "fix things up." Therefore it wasn't a consideration/distraction for me and I think that that was helpful over the course of my weight loss "journey."
