Another late joiner. I have been trying to get out of the 190s forever it seems, but I keep going up and down. I'd like to really do it this time!

Goal 189
5/29 197

I guess I should introduce myself. I am probably older than most or all of you here. Over the years I have learned that the only way I can lose and maintain is low carb. I am currently following low carb, but finding it difficult. I think I will get out my Atkins book and read it over to try to gain some incentive and remind myself of what I'm supposed to do. I know I will never follow it 100% because there are some foods in my diet I will not give up, such as beans, but I know I can do much better than I've done recently.

So you guys weigh in daily ? I can only do it once a week or else I would obsess and drive myself nuts

I did really well yesterday, but still feeling effects of my carb load on Monday night ...I read an article earlier from a guy that says he does low carb all week ( less than 20g ) and then eats like a pig on the 7th day, whatever he wants ...I don't see how that would work, seems like it would kick you out of ketosis and fat burning each time and you would have to start over...but who knows.

Welcome to Carol and Michaluola! no worries on joining late, we pretty much have a thread going year round, we just come up with a new end date for each one

Satine: I weigh daily, I don't really get obsessive about it. I used to before I learned how my body tends to react to things. The daily fluctuations bug me a small amount sometimes, but when I DON'T weigh daily I fall off the wagon so much more. You should do whatever is best for you mentally, once a week is great as long as it is what is best for you

Pixi.. ok.. I am thinking 231 today for you!!! and Satine.. you can weigh whenever you want.. its your comfort zone!. I just like to see patterns in my weighing and the weight increase/decrease after eating certain foods LOL Ahhhh how (anal) am I!?! LOL

Morning Ladies ...I had a bad night last night ...I stayed OP but I wanted sugar cookies badly for some reason...I almost went to store and caved in but I didn't ...thankfully. I weigh in tomorrow and although I think I might not see a loss due to the Memorial Day high carb pigout , I still hope to be at 205 where I was last weekend before the fiasco, lol ...

Sue - that is a good idea, I never thought about weighing in daily to see how certain foods are on my weight. Thanks for the welcome.

When I started I said there was NO way I would weigh daily - and now I do lol But, by weighing daily I have found 2x where certain foods were affecting my weight loss and was able to nix it fast instead of going in the wrong direction for a whole week.

It works great for me. But my husband about makes himself nuts and feels very defeated if he gets on that scale and there is no movement. So for him weighing once a week is a much more healthy option.

It really is about what works for you - some can find motivation or are numbers folks (that's me) and the daily weighing is helpful. For others it can make you insane! As I loose more weight I know my losses won't continue to be so much and the scale will inch by and I'll probably move to every 2-3 days weighing at that point.

Welcome and good luck on your weigh in!!!

Sue - nope, looks like the whoosh is done for the moment. I had a training session on tuesday so I will be happy with seeing low 233 or high 232 in the next couple days as my muscles recover. Usually I would have one today but his son is sick (he is a single dad) so we canceled, that just means any hidden loss the last couple days will be seen faster

ETA: going out to lunch with a friend for her birthday, so may not see the hidden loss in the next couple days... we shall see she is also a keto eater so at least there shouldnt be temptation to cheat
