Default Glucophage - how long does it take?!

I've been on glucophage XR for about a month and a half now. I just got up to my drs recommended full dosage which is 1500 mg daily. I'm so completely frusterated! I can tell a HUGE difference in my appetite. I eat maybe 1/4 of what I used to eat, which is great, but I haven't lost a single pound yet! How long does it take?? anyone have any suggestions on how to speed up the process? I read on IVF.com that the XR version is associated with less weight loss than the regular stuff. Is that true? Should I show that to my dr? Also, I have a TON of heartburn. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix that? Also, my sex drive is almost nonexistant now - poor husband Anyone else have that problem or is it just because i'm so depressed that this stuff isn't doing any good?? Please help, i'm losing my mind

Hi Swizzle ... I have only been on the Met ER ( generic for gluc XR ) for 2 weeks...I am working my way up to 2000mgs but am currently only on 1000...I have already lost 7 pounds and I would say this is because of the way my appetite has changed and the diabetic diet that my Doc put me on ...I have not heard of the XR causing less weight loss...i think that just depends on the person and the diet ...you may be eating too little to lose, you should keep your calories at no less than 1200...as for the heartburn I have not had any, also my sex drive is still the same ... hope this helps...

I was on 2000mg of Metformin and I started to lose weight after about 6 / 8 weeks but then it stopped...

The one thing Metformin did for me was change my appetite totally.... I just lost the urge to eat any crap whatsoever...
