Thumbs up 1 inch square "brownie" = 1 Fruit- as Promised

Hey, guys As I promised, this is the recipe that I received from my COD so many years ago. I inch square counts as 1 fruit.

4 oz unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup prune puree
3 lg egg whites
1 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350. Coat 8' baking pan with Pam. Cut choc into 1 in pieces and place in heat proof bowl. Melt choc in double broiler or microwave. Stir occasionally until chocolate is melted. Remove from heat, set aside. In mixer bowl combine all ingredients except flour and walnuts, beat to blend thoroughly. Mix in flour. Spread batter in prepared pan. Sprinkle walnuts. Bake 30 minutes or until springy to touch.

Makes 3 dozen.

Enjoy all

Tried them? I LIVE on them..LOL. I used to hate fruits, so it was all that I had for my fruit. They are wonderful, but a pain the a** to make, if you're like me. But oh so worth it I made some Friday in fact

Thanks for posting Buffystar! I am going to make them soon, as it's almost that TOM and I will need something to satisfy my chocolate craving.

I must admit, I get a good laugh out of reading brownies = fruit. NEVER would I have believed it!

Hugs!

Yummy!

One question though, Where do you buy prune puree? I have never seen that before.

You make the prune puree-which is the most annoying part in my opinion- but since I have a food processor( chopper)- I put the prunes in there and they get all nice and chopped up. Also make sure you have an electric mixer unless you are really strong (because the prunes aren't as smooth as brownie mix--but I promise the moistness of prunes works well in the mix to make moist brownies. Another note about the puree- make sure you get the pitted prunes (that are already somewhat processed for you)- that way all you need to do is plop them in the chopper/processor and you're ready to go! Hope you enjoy them They defnitely keep me satisfied. I'm also considering a brownie sundae- which I've considered for a while, 1 f, 1s, 1 condiment, (The ice cream and chocolate syrup)..mmmm

Default prune puree

Doesn't the prune puree also come in a jar? I think I've seen it before in the stores.

Yeah, the prunes come pretty much any way. Even pouches-I guess it depends on what you find fresher-or how much you eat prunes. Me, not so much..lol. I don't think it matters for the puree. Just don't be dumb like me-and buy pitted plums--doesn't work..lol.
