Hi Cherry~

Got your message! Sign me up, girlie! I will try to lose 16.9 lbs from today's weight (296.9), so my Halloween goal will be 280 :D Then I have another 6 weeks to lose another 10 lbs before my wedding on 12/10 (Thanksgiving will be a hitch, LOL).

Ambitious, but I can do it if I stick to my Beach Watchers and exercise! :D

I'll make myself a new ticker :D

09-11-2006, 11:11 PM
I'd like to get in on this challenge. I am aiming for 7 lbs between now & Halloween-the 1st 10 were mainly water weight, I am sure, and now is where I will begin to have to really work it if I want to lose. So, if it is ok, I'd like to join this challenge!!!!
Good luck to all of us!!!

09-12-2006, 02:57 AM
hey ladies count me in this is the little push that i need for me to get really serious about loosing I all ready lost 13pounds but i need more.

09-12-2006, 12:20 PM
Ok, I'm in. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so setting such a fun date for the goal should make it easier, right? I'll post stats and my goal tonite.

Ok, I'm 180 right now. My goal is 15 pounds, putting me below 170 for the first time in years.

09-13-2006, 08:21 PM
Hi all thanks for joining! I forgot to update yesterday with my weight, busy with studying. But when I woke up before school I weighed 244.2 so I guess I lost some weight already! That means I'm on track to get to 226 by Halloween! I rode my bike to and from class yesterday. It's about 3 miles each way, there's 2 big ole hills too, The first one I can make about 1/2 way up so my goal is to beable to bike all the way up. I am not even attempting the 2cd, it's a way steep incline (think San Francisco hills). But it's a good added workout to walk my bike up it.

halloweengirl I'm going to be ambitious with you! Losing about 2lbs a week is a good goal for us, it's a healthy rate and it will be great for our bodies! Congrats on the wedding you'll be able to make a big difference by then. Breaking it up into to 2 mini challenges probably helps too. That way you got 7 weeks to meet the first goal and then 6 weeks to meet the 2cd. Good luck!:carrot:

Shorechick, I know its crazy that our bodies can store so much extra water weight. I know one time before I did the southbeach diet and the pounds just dropped off but it was mostly the extra water weight and then it slowed down to lose the real body mass. I don't take them but I see why diruetics can be addictive, it gives that false sense of real weight loss. So stick to it and you'll get there.

Hope this challege gets you motivated to add to those 13lbs chela!

Halloween:devil: is my favorite holiday too:hat:, Ecogeek! I love going to Halloween parties, I know I can't drop a massive amount before then but I know if I lose even 10lbs it will show a difference in my face and clothes will fit a bit better. That's why I think 16's a good goal. Hopefully that's at least one dress size, I got a pair pants that I wore last year that is one size too small that I really like!

I want to lose 100lbs and my boyfriend works out so I tried to pick up 2 of his 50lb dumbbells and omg I can't believe I'm carrying that much extra weight around! No wonder my ankles get sore after a long day of standing around and stuff. I'll update again a couple days.

I hear you on the candy, Sashabee! I'm hoping if I lose some weight by Halloween I will be more inspired to resist the stuff. And prevent the whole holiday season eating marathon from starting.:crossed:
So I'd like to lose 6 pounds by Halloween, I'll weigh in tomorrow morning. (My tracker may be a pound or 2 off) Lets Go!

10-01-2006, 06:37 PM
Hello everyone! I just thought I would make this thread a sticky instead of starting an October challenge thread.

Looks like some of you are doing really well so far! :cp:

My goals for this month:

Go to dance class once a week :belly:

Do yoga twice a week:yoga:

Keep my head out of the Halloween candy bowl! :dust::wizard:

10-01-2006, 07:51 PM
Goal for October:

Lose 5 lbs since I didnt lose any last month

Get back into walkin', twice a week (if it gets too dark or too rainy windy - need to do goddess workout (belly dancing) instead).

After the 7th, spend 1 hr with Kaipo(colt) everyday, training

Remember to drink lots of water

No eating when not actually hungry

10-02-2006, 12:25 AM
I'm halfway to my Halloween goal!! :dancer:

10-02-2006, 01:32 AM
kicking in for an october goal. 10 lbs.
Which will entail actually exercising 5 to 6 times a week, like I should be and paying more attention to what I eat. i'm also going to start my food journal again.

10-03-2006, 04:27 PM
Hey guys, I lost a pound! :carrot:

I don't know if I'll lose ten pounds in a month, but I will be happy with whatever I can get. So my Halloween Challenge goals are now:

1. Exercise 6 days a week.
2. Eat at least 2 servings each of fruits and vegetables daily.

I know I'm supposed to get more than 2 servings of fruits and 2 servings of vegetables daily... but I get even less than that right now! I've decided that baby steps are key, and I don't care if the weight loss is slow as long as it is long-lasting. I'm working on establishing habits that add up to a lifestyle change, not just a "quick fix."

How's everyone else doing?

10-03-2006, 05:10 PM
Way to go Zzan! :cp:

10-04-2006, 11:50 PM
keeping up with the exercise so far. haven't been journaling so i'm going to have to start that asap! i notice a big difference in my eating.

i had a sort of victory today. my 26's which honestly were a tad snug, i hate to admit... were falling off me. not like, oh my pants are loose... these are jeans, and buttoned and zipped i can pull them off me. i was dancing around all day today trying to keep them up! went right out and bought myself some new pants after work. woohoo!

on a side note - i know a few gals live in my area... cj banks is having a major sale. i got 3 things for 17 bucks! 2 pairs of pants and a shirt - and none of their ugly crap with applique's. :)

10-05-2006, 06:51 PM
YAY LIZZINESS!!!! :cheer:

I love the feeling of pants falling off! Sure it's a pain to adjust them all the time, but... wait, no it isn't! It's like a victory dance every time. :carrot:

I'm down another pound. I'm so excited that my weight ticker keeps going down. I'm starting to think that maybe I really can do this.

10-06-2006, 09:00 PM
im soo late...but can i join a long

10-08-2006, 02:51 PM
sashabee - of course you can! it is a good feeling isn't it? :)

Giovanni- please do join us!

I have been slacking big time this last week. We had a potluck at work, then a birthday, then I just HAD to have a burger. sigh. i hate cravings and i really hate that if there is food in front of me i will have it. still shopping more wisely and i am down another lb. but it's not enough. rawr.
i haven't started the food journal or kept up my exercise. i guess i'd better step it up right now! :)

how's everyone else doing?

10-12-2006, 10:24 AM
welcome giovanni!

So far, so good . . . I have not consumed any candy yet this month.

I gained a couple of lbs over Thanksgiving but I have lost 1 already. :)

10-17-2006, 08:07 PM
Oh shoot I am way late on this challenge but I will jump right in! Lets see... exactly two weeks left but I am at the start of (yet another) weight loss effort so I will shoot for five pounds!

:carrot: hehe love the dancing carrot and his lover... the dancing banana :cb:

10-23-2006, 12:27 PM
So how is everyone doing on the Halloween challenge? I think I will be down... I weigh in tomorrow for this challenge!

And by the way... where are all the alternachicks these days? Has George Bush beaten you all into submission and hiding hahahaaa....???

10-23-2006, 02:13 PM
I pity the individual that messes with an alternachic - several of us own guns and arent afraid to use them - I have lots of animals to feed:devil:

10-23-2006, 05:01 PM
I've been doing well with my exercise and have yet to eat any candy! :D

I also lost the 3lbs I gained over Thanksgiving weekend! :cb:

10-24-2006, 12:55 PM
Ajandpj99... wow you have really lost a lot of weight and you are SO CLOSE to your goal! Nice job and your post just cracked me up!

OK... so I am quite happy to announce that I am down 3 pounds since last Tuesday so I have to try and lose another two pounds by Halloween to meet my ambitious goal of 5 pounds in two weeks. :dizzy:

Hey folks. I haven't posted because I went on a rampage earlier this month, but I'm in control now. I'm 3/4 of the way through South Beach Phase one and I've lost 7 pounds!!! Although I can't really count 2 or 3 of those since I started at the end of TOM and weighed myself the day after a party too! I think 4 pounds are ligit! 1 more to go!!
Great work Sojourner and mauvaisroux!:high:

10-25-2006, 03:51 PM
Way to go sojo and Apple Blossom! :bravo:

10-25-2006, 08:29 PM
Thanks Sojo - I never miss a chance to be sarcastic.:D

Great job Everyone! My WI isnt until the 1st - But I have been getting lots of activity with the "baby" home - and I going on an overnight backpacking campout this Sat - that should help.

10-30-2006, 01:08 PM
Yikes tomorrow is Halloween! Chickies are you ready to weigh in? I am so close but I will be pretty shocked if I hit the full five pounds by tomorrow. As of this morning I am a pound away. BUT today I start spin class (!@#$@*#)... my husband teaches spinning at a couple gyms in the area but its always at the crack of dawn and there is NO way I am getting up at 4 am to make it to a 5 am cycle class. So the other day I casually mention "oh too bad you aren't teaching any spin classes in the evenings anymore or I would try again." Well within days he gets an email from another instructor asking him if he would like to pick up a Mon-Wed 6 pm class. So now I will be trying spin again aghhhh! He is such a great instructor but spinning classes are just killer. So wish me luck because I am going to be sore in many, many unfortunate places by tomorrow! :dz:

10-30-2006, 11:29 PM
well i failed to start my food journal AND to exercise much this month. i don't know what happened.
kept up pretty well with eating though and i'm down 5 more lbs, for a total of 20 since august.

10-31-2006, 01:17 AM
Wow Lizzy 5 pounds in a month is really great! Nice job!

10-31-2006, 12:28 PM
Go Lizzy, Go Lizzy....

I WI on the first. Tomorrow, Tomorrow....:carrot:

10-31-2006, 12:46 PM
Ok so its Halloween and I am at 174... lost 4 pounds! I didn't hit my goal of 5 pounds but honestly I knew that would be difficult. I rarely lose more than 2 pounds a week unless it is near the beginning of a new weight loss effort. So I am really happy with 4 pounds! Anyone else want to report?

10-31-2006, 03:58 PM
Way to go lizziness and sojourner! :bravo:

I did well with my exercise goals and I promised I would not eat any Halloween candy before the big day and I made it.

I have eaten a couple of gummy tarantulas today at work but that is it. The big test will be tomorrow when the staff bring all their leftover candy into the office.

Happy Samhain :witch: or Halloween to everyone! :haphal:

11-01-2006, 01:28 PM
185 lbs - lost 2 lbs. My goal was to lose 5 lbs, but the closer I get to what I should weigh for my build the slower it comes off and there is some muscle gain to deal with.

Regardless of what the scale says - my size 14's are getting looser every day - even right out of the dryer. So I am getting smaller if not lighter.

My goal of 175 by New Years is not impossible though may be unrealistic for this time of year - I will perservere. New measurments may be in order.

Congrats to everyone - for just being here and giving it a go. Effort counts no matter what!

11-01-2006, 02:22 PM
I have started a 9-week holiday challenge for anyone who is interested. :)

Apple Blossom
11-01-2006, 04:09 PM
Yeah! I did it! I actually succeeded in a challenge, with somewhere around a 6 or 7 pound loss!
I'll see you over at the holiday challenge!
Congrats to everyone!

11-01-2006, 04:53 PM
Way to go Apple Blossom!!!! :bravo:

11-02-2006, 06:43 PM
Great Job Apple Blossom!!
