Default OMG - I got into the ballgown!
OK - so there's a story behind this ballgown!

I bought this several years ago and it didn't fit then (too tight). But it was a bargain from a seconds shop at only £5 (about $9) and the only thing wrong with it was that the side seam had split. About two inches at the waist. I have no clue what size it is. As it was a second, the label had been cut out, including the size. But I'm guessing a 14, as I'm in a 14 right now.

But it's so lovely I couldn't pass up a bargain like that - and I figured I could get the seam stitched easily enough and I could slim into it.

Well, of course I never did slim into it - I kept on going the other way.

So, since I started this weight loss journey, I have kept on trying on this ballgown. I had hoped to wear it to our school's Spring Ball in May but it wasn't to be. There was still a gap of about 4 inches acrosds my back where it wouldn't zip.

But I got it out today and it fastened!!! It actually zipped all the way up. It was a touch tight round the chest, but it fastened!

So I took some pics.

Thank you - I'm finally beginning to feel like I'm something approaching normal now!

Although I still feel, when I go to pick up something in a size 14, that the sales people are going to storm up and snatch it out of my hand and say "What do you think you're doing, picking up a size 14. You're fat! You can't get into a size 14!!"

Lord knows how I'll feel when (not if) I get into a 12!!

You look so beautiful I can't quite tell the color, is it black or just a dark red or brown? Beautiful dress, great bargain, enjoy it while it fits I bet you'll be too small for it soon!!

WTG!! I've got a dress I bought several years ago to wear on New Years Eve that I never fit in either, it's a 14 but a small 14, so I'll be excited when I can fit into it!!! You look beautiful and it looks like it fits you perfectly.

Thank you! It's actually navy blue.

There is always the option of getting it altered. Whern I was 21 I bought the most beautiful dress in a 16 and then, a few years later, I slimmed down into a 12 and got it altered so I could still wear it.

Then of course I put on weight and it didn't fit any more!

But I won't do that this time (get fat again that is!)

When I was trying it on, my daughter (who is 5) said I looked like Cinderella!

Although little girls are easily impressed by pretty dresses.

Of course, as the others have said.... You look wonderful in THE dress! What I LOVE the most tho' is your huge smile! Now THAT is the BEAUTIFUL part! You look so proud...as you should be....of your hard work!
