Default Weigh in at Home 8/20 - 8/26

Where is everybody today?

Sara's surgery went well. She got sick from the anesthesia Thursday, but was feeling better by Friday morning and got to come home Friday afternoon. The surgeon stopped in the room before we left and said that the pathologist had looked at most of the mass and did not find any sign of cancer. He still had to look at a small part, but things look good. We go back to the surgeon tomorrow so we will know for sure then.

I had a maintain this week, which I'm happy about. I planned on getting totally back OP today, but then the munchies hit at work. I have been walking, but that is about it.

Talk to you later.

Hi everyone.

Wish I could say I'm glad to be back from vacation, but.... I was happy, though, to sleep in my own bed last night.

Pat - I am so glad to hear that Sara's surgery went well and that the news is so far so good. It must be a huge relief for you. Now she can concentrate on the excitement of starting college. Good for you for a maintain through all of this.

Sandra - Welcome the group! You've had great success your first couple of weeks. That's terrific!

Holly - Sorry to hear about the gain over the summer. Sounds like you do have your focus back. I'm glad to hear the new meeting helped. Where in the northwoods did you vacation? We used to go to the U.P. every year.

Judy - Sorry to hear about the gain last week. Sounds like you're right back on track just fine. Your mini-goal sounds like a good motivator. I hope your necks is 100% better soon and that you don't come down with a cold. Summer colds are bummers, that's for sure.

Jennifa - Sorry to hear you had a bad week last week. I'm glad your finding the Chopra plan successful.

We had a great vacation. Didn't really walk the beach at all, but did get in the water quite a bit. Eating was so-so. I weighed in up 2 pounds this morning. I'm now two pounds away from my starting weight of almost three years ago. I swear I will not see that weight again (not that just 2 pounds less is any great shakes). I'm going to find my focus again and get serious about this. I'm adjusting my starting weight to today's weight. I will see a loss next week if it kills me.

Carla - Welcome back. Glad you had a good time. Sorry about the gain. I know how frustrating it can be. I'm getting close to that 150 again and I said I would never go over that again. Let's get serious about the program again. We will have a loss next week.

Sara's pathology report came back all clear. The surgeon released her and said she can do whatever she is comfortable doing. He said he didn't think she would need to take thyroid hormones, but does want her to go to our family doctor and/or a specialist for another opinion. She still can't drive (can't move her heat to look side to side), but is going to move into the dorm on Thursday and go back to work Friday. (Guess who gets to pick her up from school and get her to work )

Eating was a little better today, but still not OP. I did go for a walk and got in plenty of water. I'm going to concentrate on the exercise and water this week, and then work on the food next week. Baby steps back OP.

Hi all.

Pat - I'm so happy that the final news on Sara was good news! You must be so relieved. Doing the school to work transporting will sure keep you busy. Hopefully Sara will be able to drive herself soon. I hope she has a speedy recovery and is soon feeling 100% back to her old self.

Judy, Tracy, Holly, Jennifa, Sandra - How are you doing?

I've decided to shake things up a bit and will make Wednesdays my official weigh-in day. I'm thinking perhaps a little change will do me some good. I've been toying with trying meetings, but think I may re-order the at-home materials instead. I know that I have to start exercising again - that's going to be key to staying focused. I also desperately need to regain some energy - I drag so much, especially in the evenings. Last night Ana wanted to go out to look at the stars, but it was raining. So this morning I promised her that after we get her bathed and in her PJs tonight, I will put her in her stroller and take her for a walk so she can look at the stars. That way I'll get in my exercise and if I'm lucky Ana will fall asleep in her stroller and I'll be able to avoid the bedtime struggle for one night.

Talk to you all later.

Carla

Phew - sorry for the late checkin.

First things first - Pat, I am SOOOOOOO happy to hear the good news about Sara. It must feel like a huge weight lifted off your shoulders.Baby steps back sound like a good plan. You can do it!

Carla - sorry to hear about the gain but 2 pounds for vacation isn't bad at all. Hey, I'm for shaking things up whenever possible. Yes, you're right about the exercise - you know you feel better when you do it.

I didn't weigh in on Saturday because I came down with bronchitis on Friday. I went to the doctor and started on antibiotics so it hasn't been as bad as its been sometimes in the past. Of course, no exercise, rest, liquids, etc. Then on Sunday my throat started really hurting. Back to the doctor on Monday - they think it could be strep but can't test because I've been on antibiotics. News antibiotics to take and 2 days off work (Mon & yesterday). I've been OP foodwise but of course no exercise which is a drag. I should be well enough to weigh in on Saturday and I hope to whittle down my gain from a couple of weeks ago.

I'd better get going - I still can't stay on the computer for too long at one time.

Have a great one!

Hi everyone.

Judy - You poor thing. When it rains, it pours for you. I hope you're feeling better soon. Get all that rest the doctor ordered and don't fret about the exercise. You'll be back at it soon enough if you take it easy for awhile.

It was raining yesterday, so no star walk with Miss Ana last night. But, I had to run an errand yesterday and did get in a 40 minute walk in the process of doing it. So I managed to log some exercise yesterday. Yay! I'll try to get out with Ana tonight, but its still rainy here, so I don't know. If not, I hope to get some weight work in.

I'm going back and forth about changing my weigh-in day and now I think I may just stick with Monday. I guess I'll see when I get out of bed on Monday morning.

Have a great day everyone.

Carla - way to go on getting that walk in while doing the errand. Sometimes, that's the way you have to fit it in (take the stairs, park further away, etc.) I know you know that already though ;-) I hope the skies clear so you and Miss Ana can get that star walk in!

I did OK yesterday. I managed to save a couple of food points and I'm doing OK with it again today. We are just about drowning in tomatoes this year and I made myself a yummy low point tomato sandwich with NO bread, lf mayo and fresh basil. Still coughing and still a little blech so of course no exercise. I have to go into the office tomorrow and it's going to be a long day; we had some tentative plans this weekend to babysit for Anthony and see our new grand niece but I don't think that's going to happen. Oh well, I guess the silver lining is less temptation food-wise!

Carla - Way to go getting in the walk. I hope it cleared up so you and Ana could look for stars tonight. You're right about the exercise. As much as I hate to admit it, I do much better when I get it in. I think Sara will be able to drive herself within another week. Fortunately one of her friends offered to pick her up tomorrow.

Judy - So sorry you aren't feeling well again. Good job saving points, especially when you haven't been able to exercise.

I've done pretty well the last two days. Yesterday I worked my full day at M/W/F job and then went in to the Tue/Thurs job since I needed off this morning. Wouldn't you know he had a couple of projects that couldn't wait. This morning we helped Sara move into the dorm. I got my workout since she is on the third floor and couldn't carry much of anything herself. I did eat too much for lunch (we were late eating) but made up for it with a low point dinner. We've got the rain now, so no walks tonight.

Talk to you later.

Hi guys! Sorry about the late check-in, but this was Josh's first week of full-day kindergarten, and I've not got on the computer once!

Pepper - I'm so happy about the good income for Sara (you can breathe now!)

Cece - Welcome back! Sorry about the vacation gain, but the important thing is did you have fun? Yes! Vacations don't come around that often, so no guilt and move on... While you were gone, a community WW meeting opened in the town I work , so I joined for the 9 week session with a friend who wanted to try WW. My new weigh-in date is Thurs P.M. It is kind of fun to shake up the weigh-in date...give it a try!

Judy - Sorry to hear you are sick :-P. I stayed home one day this week myself. I think the allergy season is coming back around :-Z. P.S. I got the Gay Gasper Greatest Step in the mail this week and have attempted the step portion twice...it is kicking my butt! I love it though :-). I love the complicated step moves, and the fact that it is a challenge. I wonder if I'll ever see the end of that tape??!

Good news...I lost 2.8 this week, and I can't imagine how that happened. It wasn't that great of a week, but I did exercise more. Once again I have a big party weekend (2 different social activities). Sat may be a bust because I plan to really enjoy my wine ;-), but I'll be careful about food choices. I plan to get right back on track Sun, as it is a family b-day party. My is is making cornish hens -- I wonder what the pts are for those?? Thanks a bunch for all your ideas for last weekened. The seltzer water in between drinks helped a lot, and there wasn't a lot of food around to tempt me.

Mini goals this week are to concentrate on water, and measured portions. I'm getting sloppy about guestimating portions and/or pts.

Gotta get ready so I can get my little guy up to ride the school bus :-) The site of him in his backpack is simply too cute! Hang in there guys.

Pat, so glad to hear Sara is ok. Hope she has fun at college - whoever said high school is the best time of life never went to college! Does she have a major yet? I'm excited for her!

Judy, hope you feel better soon. You are an amazing math woman - I can never get the banking points figured out.

I have been trying (key word - trying) to exercise lately but these 60+ hour weeks make it really hard. I guess it's catching up with me this week because i did buy some cheese crackers (my big weakness) and have been eating a lot of cookies. I suppose I think I need the comfort food. The weight came back BEFORE the crackers and cookies, not due to anything I did or did not do. I know there is something really not right about gaining and losing 16 pounds a month but I can't find a doctor who will care enough to help me about it. If anybody knows a doctor out there, please ask them what could cause this problem and tell them that I am drinking my water and limiting my salt intake already. Giving my scale away was a really good move. It's bad enough I have to worry about it every other week!

So for now, I am trying to ride the pink bike as much as I can and have fun doing it. I did wreck it a few weeks ago and had to get a new wheel for it (plus some stitches for me - even more fun) but I'm back on the horse and being a bit more careful. YES I do wear a helmet. I have noticed a change in that I am exercising because it feels good, not just to lose weight. I think that's something worth celebrating.

Lyontamer, did you check your messages yet? I sent you one but I haven't heard back. Oh well. I hope you are feeling well, and I am glad the seltzer helps. Social situations can be a real challenge. Mine usually have lots of meat (I'm a vegetarian) so I often have the option of potato chips or cake!! And if I ask if I can bring anything, I get the "oh, no, I've got food for everyone" which I'm learning translates into "you'll be eating about a billion calories if you get anything at all..." people just don't get it. From now on I am bringing a veggie tray or something I can eat and I don't care what they say. Either that or I'm eating before I go.

I can't wait for this stupid month to end. And I can't wait for fall to start, I hate summer clothes and I am just itching to wear my gorgeous fall wardrobe. It's almost Labor Day, time to put away the white shoes, and this time I am getting rid of anything that doesn't make me look like a goddess. I may be fat but I will NOT be frumpy. Ooo, and I have the coolest boots.. I love fall.

Hi everyone.

Judy - That tomato sandwich sounds divine. Too bad I don't live close to you. I'd come take some of those tomatos off your hands. I hope today at the office isn't too terribly long. Long days are hard enough by themselves, but when you don't feel good on top of it.....

Pat - Ah I remember dormitory move in day well. Sounds like you got in a real workout, so I wouldn't worry about a high point lunch too much, especially since you ate low point at dinner. Sounds like you're feeling back on track. Good for you!

Holly - Congrats on a terrific loss. Sounds like all that exercise is working. I know you can do well this weekend. Remember one or two glasses of wine sipped slowly and savored can be as enjoyable as three or four glasses. I would think the points for Cornish Hens would be the same as chicken.

Jennifa - You're right, a 16 pound loss/gain in a month doesn't sound right. Have tried consulting a bariatric doctor (I think that's the correct name for the speciality of weight and weight management). I feel for you having to work all those hours. Its hard to find time to exercise when you're working like, and hard to find the energy too. I love fall too! I buy the Vogue fall issue every year. Of course the last couple of years, I haven't actually sat down to read it, but this year I will. I bought my copy last night. And I like your thinking: Out with the dowdy, in with the chic.

No star walk last night either - went to the grocery store last night so I was running a bit behind. Got stocked up on a lot of good things though. The clouds were obscuring the stars, anyway. So we just walked to the corner and then stood outside for awhile. Busy morning this morning, but I guess the best thing about being on the phone non-stop is no time to think about snacking. And I was well-prepared for it today: blueberries and grapes (which became dessert at lunch), Trader Joe's chocolate cat cookies and a new product I found last night - pretzels with soy added by Roberts American Gourmet, the maker of Pirates Booty. 2 points an ounce. Oh well, I guess I'm well covered for snacks this afternoon and on the train. No plans for the weekend, so should be ok there. I'm going to try to stay off my feet as much as possible. My right ankle and knee are really bothering me. I thought I was going to have to take a cab for the two blocks from the train station to the office. I guess I need to have the ankle looked at. Its the one I sprained and it never has felt right. And I'm sure its affecting the knee as well. And of course, the 120+ extra pounds isn't helping either.

Have a great day and a terrific weekend.

Angry Can I join your group?

Hello!

I recently started to follow WW123 at home, and was wondering if I would be able to post in your forum?

You all seem very nice, and I would really like to post and keep in touch to keep me on track.

I notice the majority of you are in the Illinois area, I am in Canada, hope this is okay?

Let me know, I hope everyone has a good week.

Thanks!

Canadagoose - Of course you can post here! Welcome and we're glad to have you on board with us. I guess we do have a strong Illinois contingent here - Holly and I are in the same general area and Pat is downstate. But Judy is from New York and Jennifa from Colorado. Tracy, your location escapes me at the moment. We're glad to have a friend from Canda. Which part of Canada?

Post Thank You!

Thanks so much for letting me post here!

I am from Northern Manitoba Canada. If anyone has an idea where Winnipeg is, I live about 7 hours north of there, so it can get pretty cold in the winter, but we have amazing hunting & fishing up here. We often get people from Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota that spend time up here in the summer.

We have alot recreation wise too, as we live about 30 minutes away from 3 lakes, in 3 different directions! So we have many options that way.

Hope everyone had a good week! I on the other hand didn't!

But it is time to get back on plan and start over.
I am not sure if our town will have a WW chapter this year as the girl that has been our leader, is unable to do it this year! I was unable to attend meetings last year, so I don't have Winning Points yet, and may decide to try WW Online if our chapter is done.

I had gotten down to 188, but have put almost 20 pounds back on and am really worried that in no time the rest of the weight will come back too!

Hope everyone has a good week, talk to you soon, and thanks again for letting me join your forum!!
