Ok, I'm ready to face reality and start REALLY measuring what I eat! I do use measuring cups, but I must confess to really packing the cups full My portion control is OUT of control! I need to get a good food scale to keep me honest.
Please share your advice on which food scales work best. Do you like the digital ones? Do the ones with attached bowls make it easier to measure food?
I purchased a small battery-operated digital scale from Target about 2 years ago for maybe $25, and it was a great investment. I still use it pretty regularly. I tried to find a link to the one I own, but it looks like it's been discontinued.
But basically in my experience I found that it's nice to have one that is flat enough to put in a drawer, so don't get one's with attached bowl. And I love the fact that it's digital because you can switch between grams and oz and it haz a zero function, which means that if you put a bowl on top of the scale, you can hit the zero button and it goes tozero, in other words it subtracts the weight of the bowl or whatever container you are using.
Mine was about $50 and worth every penny.
Good luck with it.
I, like you have a problem with portion size, luckily I got a digital food scale for Christmas, and have been using it to measure most things, digital is the way to go.
