Hello fellow bakers!
I wasn't quite sure what applesauce was used for substituting in baking... was it eggs? I know soda would also be used for cup cakes o but can apple sauce be used for baking anything???
You can use applesauce, in equal amounts, to replace oil :)

thanks linda! Is it just oil, or can it be used for other oil products lie butter and /or margerine?
That I'm not sure, hon, you'd probably have to look that up. But I know you can substitute applesauce for oil in just about any baked good, even boxed cake mixes. Really cuts fat and calories.
Yes butter and margarine can be replaced with applesauce as well. Another good substitute is nonfat yogurt. :) I like to replace about 1/2 of the butter or oil in most baking recipes with either fruit or yogurt. You'll have to experiment a bit to find the right balance for different recipes.
