Well, I know that plantain chips have less cholesterol than regular potato chips. They are a good source of potassium and vitamin C. I think making them yourself is the trick to keeping them low in calories though. Normally, a whole cup is only like 125 calories.
Being a Puerto Rican, plantain chips are my soul food. So yummy. Plantains are OK, the problem is that the chips are usually deep fried=lots of fat grams per serving. I googled for calorie and fat content and came up with 32 g fat per serving.
Was just going to say they are deep fried, so perhaps not! Try banana chips they are more dried than fried and similar to plantain chips! Although you still need to watch the calories on the banana chips since a small amount can still be high in calories too!
I found pita chips @ trader joe's! Im on weight watchers and I going by points. So I found pita chips r low in salt and 2pts. for 1oz.of them! they also have thin baked chips (potatoe) there very good they almost taste like lay's chips. Again 2pts. 1oz.
