Hello everyone, I've been on this site for about a week now but this is my first post so I want to introduce myself. I'm a 26 year old woman with 100lbs to lose and trying to find the best way to do it with support while staying motivated. What I've found out about myself is that I gain weight very easily but it takes a lot for me to lose even the smallest amount of weight. Also, I had a breast reduction a few years ago and since then my weight distribution and weight composition has completely changed.
I've recently done some pilates and yoga to reduce stress, but want to know if anyone knows of any good resources for yoga for larger bodies? If anyone has any helpful hints on selecting a plan it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi lola06, welcome to the group. Sorry I can't help you out with any advice on the yoga. Good for you for taking the plunge and starting to post, as you may have already noticed, this is a fantastic place.

We have a few things in common, new...over 100...and surgery(12 years ago). I personally have a hard time on the floor, but have tried tai chi. I generally will rent a video from the library or netflix first before buying;nothing is worse than spending $$ on a bad exercise video.

Welcome! I started this at 26 with 100 to lose too, I'm now 27 with 7 to lose and what a big difference that makes! I do a little yoga, but I've only really started relatively recently as I was always worried that my stomach would get in the way!

Hi Lola: welcome! I have a DVD that's called "Yoga for Weight Loss" that we bought at Sam's several years ago. It had four levels - and you choose the one that's right for you. I still have to do the lowest one. You might see if you can find that one somewhere.

Glad you're here!

There are several people at this forum that take yoga classes--one even teaches a yoga class for larger people. Also, I think there was a discussion about this on the Exercise forum that you might want to check out.

Many people here are calorie counters, some of us do Weight Watchers, others Jenny Craig, South Beach and everything else imaginable. I think it's fairly easy finding a program that will work--it's working the program that's the hard part. Good luck on your weight loss journey and be sure and stick around and post often!

, lola06!

Finding a sustainable programme is the key. I can stick with almost anything for a week or two, but that's not a lot of use when squaring up to get rid of 100+ pounds. It might help to think about what you're prepared to commit to (and what you're not!), and then looking for a plan that can accommodate these things.

Welcome! I use a yoga video called Just My Size. I think it is great, and especially good for a plus sized girl! (or guy, I guess. LOL) I found mine at Walmart for like 7 bucks.
