I am thinking about lifting. I hear its a great way to slim down that waist. My question is just what equipment do i need to get started? I think i just found where some of my taxes money is going I think that it would be great investment. If i can get into this, when hubby gets home i know he will want to use it as well. I just need some help getting started, tips might be nice too. Thanks e1!

Do you mean weight lifting equipment or exercise cardio machine? For lifting at home, I use hand weights and an exercise ball. I do crunches for core stability and abdominal muscle strength. You can't really slim down one area of the body by spot training. Overall weight loss is what does it. However, with weight lifting, your muscle mass will be larger and muscle tissue is more metabolically active then fat (burns more calories at rest) therefore it assists in total weight loss. I hope I've answered your question, I got a bit long-winded there...

I was just browsing online at different things they have available. I was thinking maybe one of those home gym sets...the ones that look like the weight bench but use resistance instead of actual weights. It has the leg curls and arm pulleys and such. I want to start building my muscle mass not to the extent that i get actual bulk but so i can lose weight and tone i guess at the same time. I just need to know the best equipment to start with. Right now i have an eliptical machine but i dont feel that anywhere but my legs. I do aerobics as well during the day but i feel worn out but no soreness or tension in my body and i dont feel like i am doing anything if i cant feel it in my bones...LOL does that make sense?????

Head on over to www.stumptuous.com, click on iron and she'll show you all you need to know. There's even a section on lifting with household objects.

She also debunks the TONE and BULK myths. No woman will EVER get bulky in a hurry! We just don't have the testosterone so I guess I'll just have to put up with long toned biceps from all my heavy weights. Life is such a drag!
