Default How much did you pay for your gym membership?

I decided to join a gym and so I went with my mother to look at plans. They told us it would cost $495 and $22 dollar a month...what kind of prices have you seen?

I don't know how we managed this deal, but we paid the enrollment and processing fee (can't remember how much) then $30 a month BUT we paid in full for one year and get two years after that for free. After THAT we get it for $7 a month. Oh, it's 24 hour fitness by the way.

Wow. I'm so jealous of the options you all have! I joined my Boston Sports Club for very little initiation (maybe $20) and $65/month. Its a super nice club, but pricy. I guess its is Boston though...

Stacy, how long ago was this and which location was it? I don;t have to pay for a membership because I work at a few gyms but I have always wanted a 24 hour fitness membership so I could work out with all my friends who have memberships and so I would join up if it were this inexpensive!

I joined Curves and it is $30/month. Some locations were $40/month. I had a start-up fee of $75.

We used to have a YMCA family membership for $35/month. That was on a sliding-fee scale because I make less than $65,000 per year. Full price would have been probably double that. I think a single adult membership, full price, is about $45/month.

I go to powerhouse gym, and it was a flat fee of $200.00 for the whole year, with showers and saunu and a trainer for 3 months... good deal if you ask me..

Yogini, it is the one in Carlsbad/Oceanside (it's called both) on El Camino Real. When we went we spoke with the manager and my husand had formerly been a member so the two of them kinda talked it out and the manager mentioned that deal all of a sudden after we were already signing papers. You could probably get it if you like bargaining! The manager's name (I think!) is Forrest. He's a short dark haired guy that always wears a white polo.

I go to the university gym for "free." If possible, you might want to hold off until they start advertising sales for New Year's Resolutions - they usually have some really good deals at that time of the year.

I paid an enrollment fee of $99
Monthly Fee is $40
Also recieve a trainer session every 30 days to assess progress, make new program.
I can take whatever classes and they also have a lap pool.
It's a private gym, not a big chain. It's right across the street from my apt. so I am more likely to go rather than driving down the road to a bigger chain gym.
