Cool Exercise Machines annnnnddd....

Exercise machines annnnnnddd...the calories they count!!

How accurate are machines when it comes to calories?

Are all machines as accurate as all others? Is a treadmill more accurate than an elliptical?

I walk on the treadmill and it tells me it's 500 calories for an hour I'd love if this was right, but I don't know (I have to input my weight and everything).

In my opinion none of them are correct they are just an estimate really. The machines may input your weight and the time you spend on it, but cannot take into consideration if you have a fast or slow metabolism. Take the readings with a grain of salt...IMHO!

I have heard a good rule of thumb for walking is burning 100cals per mile so depending on your speed you may burn 500 cals in an hour but it would be a fast walk!
