Talking Austin, Voight, tae bo? help

I've been doing Denise Austins TV show for a while now (whole 1hr), and it's not quite affecting me like it use to, not leaving me drenched anymore. So I'm looking for a big step up. I was thinking about her Personal trainer video, or maybe one of Karen Voight's videos, Tae Bo?

I'm looking for a video that doesn’t require any extra equipment except maybe a chair and a set of weights. A long one too ,an hour +, something that includes toning, and that I wouldn’t be able to finish the first time. Any suggestions? Any help would be muchly appreciated.

The only really good cardio videos I have found are Tae Bo with Billy Blanks. Those are butt kickers but fun!

I also did Denise's show and then shows for many years then I started Taebo and have been doing that for 7 years. I tried Karen Voight and didn't care for her at all. I also started with the Firm for strength training and then moved on to Cathe Friedrich for both strength and cardio - fitting Taebo in once or twice a week. Now I'm doing Turbo Jam and Taebo Bootcamps. I am trying to get a couple of weight workouts in also. I like Yoga Booty Ballet for a lighter workout.

I have the Personal Trainer DVD also but I've only used the cardio workout once. I need to try it again.

It's all such a personal thing - if you can get on ebay and buy some workouts cheap to try them out, the library, or a I know that people have also joined Netflex (sp?) and have tried workouts through them to see what they like - that way you are not spending a bunch of money on workouts that will sit and collect dust.

Good luck! Rachelle

I'd recommend The FIrm Body Sculpring Basics also known as Volume 1 taught by Susan Harris. It is VERY 80's dress, hair, makeup and the music was instrumental and done to the fith the workout after it was filemed I belive. But it only requires dumbells and a towel (or yoga strap or belt or bathrobe belt can be used.)
I'd also recommend the Volume 2 that follwed it taught by Janet Jones Gretsky (sp?) but it is only available thru ebay of other forum swaps right now.
These are very tough and can be done from beginner to advance levels with just dumbells & the towels/strap used for stretching.
A more current series is from the same creators called Fitprime with is more stregnth based, and Kickbutt which is more cardio based. These require, dumbells, stool, towel/strap, yoga brick(substitute with a pillow) and dowel, which they show substituions for as a mop or swiffer or broom. This is only used for help while trying some of the balancing moves and a couple of cardio tunes.
More info on Fitprimes and preview clips can be found at http://www.whfn.com/fitprime.php and the Kickbutt info can be found here http://www.whfn.com/kickbutt.php
All range from 40-60 minutes and are great workouts that really involve the core.

I think any of the Firm TransFIRMer videos are good. I just got it with 4 dvd's. They are a HARD workout.

Also, Tae Bo Boot Camp is REALLY hard.

Good luck!

I just wanted to add in that Tae Bo has a LOT of yelling and screaming throughout the whole workout, so if you aren't into counting along and "FEELING THE BURN" you might want to reconsider.

I really like a lot of different things, everyone has given great suggestions. Check out College Video because they show a clip of each video they sell and you can see if you like the style. I have been loving two Kathy Smith videos Functionally Fit Fat Burning and Aerobox lately.

I recommend the Denise Austin's Female Fat Zones DvD. I use it and I have seen results! A very insightful friend (a personal trainer) told me to re-evaluate my workout every two weeks and do something different because your body "gets accustomed" to what you are doing to it and doesn't react as much. So, I turn my work out up and down all the time! I try to run/walk at least 45 min. and get a good cardio in and strength train the others and it works. I mix all of my work outs up so my body doesn't get bored! Good Luck! I use Pilates too.

It turns out they didnt have denise austins personal trainer at walmart, so I got billy blanks boot camp, and hes not as irritating as I thought he would be, he does have the constant look that hes going to run through my tv screen and eat my face off. Good work out, even with out the bands.
