Hello! I've just begun the diet, and I'm a little unclear about the "low-fat or fat-free only" lunch meat that is allowed during Phase 1. The lunch meat I've seen says "95% Fat-Free" or "98% Fat-Free". Would both of these qualify?
Additionally, would fat-free franks (weiners) be acceptable during Phase 1?
Both those types of luncheon meat would be considered fat-free. However, check the ingredients as there could be fillers other than fat in them. The same goes for weiners. On Phase I, we are best to stick to food that is NOT highly processed.
It seems to me that ff hot dogs are not allowed until ph2 - I'm not a big hot dog fan, so I'm not absolutely sure, but I think I remember that from the ph2 list - you might take a look in the updated lists in the FAQ forum. If you don't see anything in the ph1 list, look at the ph2 list and see - I think it was there under "beef" for foods to add back in ph2.
H-Ko is right again! Soy based hot dogs are allowed in Phase I but the others not until Phase II and then limited.

BEEF
All hot dogs (beef, pork, poultry, soy) can be enjoyed occasionally (once/week) if they are at least 97% fat free (contain 3-6 grams of fat/serving).
Personally I won't touch them. Read the ingredients.
