I think this depends on how much money you are willing to spend on it.
Regardless of the kind of scale, you want to avoid jostling it too much or putting stuff on it which can mess up the calibration. It's best if you can leave it in a set location.
I personally like digital scales better because it's easier to see exactly where I'm at and because they can count ounces as well.
One word of advice is to not bother with the ones that calculate your body fat. They don't work (at least the moderately priced ones don't, I can't vouch for the spendy ones) because they end up fluctuating vastly depending on how much water you have had. I think as a general rule they are not very reliable on that front.
