Default Thin for life - week of July 10th, 2005

Hi Ladies,

Quiet round here this week. Hope everyone had a decent weekend and that Lisa is safe from Dennis and his new friend Emily. Yikes, its a bad weather year all around.

Makes you wonder if, well, never mind .............. I won't go there.

Anyways, had a marginally decent weekend with my parents, schelpped home early on sunday to hit a garden sale and open, test drive a car that we're about to buy and do some gardening. This week is short with a trip to vancouver and then I'm here and there for the next two weeks, boston, san diego and who knows where.

All I do know is that my skirt is tight and I'm reigning it in. Doing the dr. C (roya's vet) assessment of my eating habits right now. Figuring out what I am eating and then making some changes in the next two weeks.

I'm thinking the weather on the east coast sucks, so I'm hoping everyone is staying cool.

drop by and say hi!

Hi ladies,

Not too much to report. The weather is back to hot and humid. Work is very SLOOOOW. Seems like most of the office is on vacation. Didn't do too much this weekend. Friday it rained the entire day. Saturday was so so..Sunday was the best day weatherwise so we headed to the Rhode Island shore. Had a really nice lunch of N.E. clam chowder and scallops. Weight is off the charts so I must reign it in this week also.

Lala what kind of car did you test drive? I did end up starting a book this weekend, The Nanny Diaries. It's a good summer read but sadly it does remind me of a couple of people I know. Sounds like you've got a lot of traveling planned.

Hi to Susan, Melissa and Lisa.

I've got to grab some lunch. I'm starving this afternoon. Talk to you later.

Pam -----

Yum. Yum. Yum. I am looking forward to my lobster in falmouth next thursday night!

Volvo xc70 wagon, used that is blue with good cup holders. That is all I ask. Good cup holders.

Waiting for my friend to buy her other friends other xc wagon after the other friend buys relative's mercedes wagon. Doesn't that sound overly yuppified to you?

The nanny diaries were a bit sad. Read "i don't know how she does it" and the "devil wears prada" to get a good hit of real life in the fast lane.

Hi! This is the first chance I've had to write. Yikes--I've been so busy at work. I don't know what is going on, but I do know that quotes and proposals are big pains. There are so many changes.

Went to my parents over the weekend--bad move! The tropical storm part of Dennis was there, so we were cooped up in the house all weekend. Then on Sunday when I tried to leave, the area around my parents' development was flooded. Thank God I have a SUV or I wouldn't have been able to get home. It was so scary; the water was up to my doors. Yes, now we have Emily to wonder about.

lala, yes that sounds overly yuppified (sorry).

Pam, I never read The Nanny Diaries, but I've been wondering about Devil Wears Prada. I'm definitely going to read Eleven on Top by Janet Evanovich; her books just crack me up and they're easy reads.

I'll be on stage again; I'm playing Angela in a play called "Murder Among Friends."

I'm with you lala as far as weight goes; I don't know what I've been doing, but I haven't been watching what I've been eating. Yesterday I had cake and a danish!

Hi everyone,
cloudy here now, but expecting 75 and climbing all weekend. Defective I say as I'm outside all weekend and wish it to be a bit cooler.

Got the car, sort of. Everything is paid, they are just getting the bumper replaced today. Should get it tomorrow. We sealed the deal with champagne and a dark chocolate dipped candied ginger slice. That was very over the top. Made for an exciting book club entry.

Other than that. I would say, its buckle down as lala is running out of skirts and refuses to put on pants and oy! what a change from last summer.

Lisa -- I'm on the list of eleven on top. I heard the books on tape of Evanovich mysteries are great too!

Cool on the play too.

Most of my travel is either work or family. My mom is having a partial (I hope) knee replacement at the end of the month. I'll be in San Diego for a meeting, but my sense is I'll be back the follow weekend for another visit. I have a trip to SD and on to DC coming up. DP just bought tickets for her meeting in Wales and my joining her. I'm not that crazy about spending six days in Wales, but I don't want to spend six days in London either. I was hoping Normandy. Sigh.

Hi to Susan and Melissa!

Hi ladies,

Things in my life are just very slow right now. Not much going on at all. I finished reading the Nanny Diaries last night and I think I'm going to take Lala's advice and pick up The Devil Wears Prada. Nothing like an easy read in the lazy hazy days of summer.

Lala congrats on the volvo, a very nice car and I agree that cup holders are most important. Oh.. I hope you enjoy a nice lobster dinner next week in Falmouth. My DS will be living on the Cape the month of August (in Bourne). He was fortunate enough to get a paid internship and is VERY fortunate that his grandparents have a summer home in Dennisport so he doesn't have to pay rent. Sorry to hear your Mom needs a partial knee replacement. Hope she recovers quickly and is not laid up too long.

Lisa congrats on getting the role in the play. Glad you got home from your parents safe and sound, I would imagine water up to the doors on the SUV would be pretty frightening. I hope Emily doesn't cause you any problems..I heard this morning it was upgraded to a hurricane.

Hi to Melissa and where is Susan??

Well today is my last day of work for another long weekend. No real plans other than trying to help my son locate another apartment for the fall semester. I can't believe he will be starting his senior year of college! Yikes time sure goes by quickly. If I don't get a chance to sign on tomorrow I will wish you all a nice weekend now! take care.

Good morning everyone. I'm still around, just haven't been spending much tme on line.

First of all, the weight thing. I'm slowly getting some of the excess off. I haven't been journalling, just kind of keeping a running total in my head and trying to stay within reasonable limits. I've been running regularly, so that helps.

We are also in the midst of buying a car. We started out looking for a used Toyota Echo but are now on the verge of buying new. We really want a 5-door hatchback, and since they only started making them last year, there are virtually no used ones on the market right now. So, despite all of our vows never to buy new again, we're taking the plunge. I sold my 16-yr-old Corolla last nite; it feels weird -- I had it so long it became part of the family.

I'm really enjoying the summer, regardless of the fact that the weather here is less than perfect. It's been overcast and foggy. They predict rain almost every day but it seldom materializes. That makes it hard to plan. It's still great not going to work every day, so I shouldn't complain.

I'm heading to New Brunswick on Sunday with my sister for a week. Two of my other sisters have rented a cottage on the beach for a week. It should be a blast. DH and I are taking a road trip at the beginning of August to Montreal, Ontario and back to Quebec City - one of my favourite places.

Got my hair cut this week - fairly short for a change. I like it a lot.

lala: You have a busy travel schedule. Hope your Mom's surgery goes well. Knee replacement is pretty common these days, isn't it? Sometimes mine feel like they should be replaced

Lisa: Sorry you ended up in the midst of Dennis. Isn't this a bit early for such an active hurricane season? When does the play open?

Pam: Enjoy the slower pace while you can. I need to pick up some of the books you've mentioned; I have plenty of them around, but nothing that says summer.

Hi Melissa

Hi everyone! It's been crazy here and this afternoon it's unusuallly quiet which is quite eerie considering this is our largest summer orientation session. It's like we're waiting for the other shoe to drop

Anyway, I'm working on keeping my journal this week; I was down 1.4 from last week but still not where I want to be. I'm a little disgruntled but am forging ahead.

Lala: Congrats on the new wheels!

Lisa: Hope some of your craziness subsides--I know mine will once we get through Monday/Tuesday of next week.

Susan: Good luck with getting a new car...I love my corrolla. I'm in need of a good summer read. Our summer has been unusually hot. We've been hitting the upper 80's mid 90's and haven't had hardly any rain. My lawn is brown.

Pam: Hi!

Well, we're heading into the home stretch for the summer orientations and I'm happy--that means only 4 1/2 more work days and I'm off on vacation.

Have a great weekend!!

I've been so busy at work; I'm finally taking a breather. After work today DH and I are headed to the golf course, but I just heard a thunder clap. Darn!

My play, Murder Among Friends, opens in September. I got the female lead (I guess they still want old women!)

Susan, welcome back, keep plugging. You know that it's a slow process. I'm struggling with poor eating habits of late. Last night I participated in a group 3 mile run. I came in last, but it wasn't a race. I walked a good part of it. I just can't run for long stretches. I'm glad you're still running. A new hairstyle should make you feel better. Wow! 16 years for a Corolla, that's really good. Your upcoming trips sound interesting.

lala, how's the new car? When is your mom's surgery?

Pam, what is your son interning for? I'm reading Eleven on Top by Janet Evanovich. Her books are very entertaining.

Hi, Melissa. I wonder if she's traveling? I hope she got her painting done.

Have a good weekend everyone.
