The only "free" things are weekly recipes and such and your starter kit. The turnaround kit, if I'm thinking of the right thing, includes the Complete Food Guide and the Restaurant Guide, an erasable points tracker with a pen, and a case for holding everything. I bought mine at a meeting for about $20. If you don't feel you need any of that stuff, you can skip it. They sell lots of stuff at meetings, but you don't need to buy any of it.
Given your diet, you probably don't really need the restaurant guide--it's mostly for fast food and family restaurant chains. The complete food guide might be useful, though--it lists a lot of things by brand name. At my meeting you can buy the whole kit or any of the components, separately. I bought mine because I wanted both books and it was a handy way to keep everything in one place.
