WW Clubs and Groups - Feisty & Sexy 50 & 60 yr olds #114View Full Version : Feisty & Sexy 50 & 60 yr olds #114 painter5 05-06-2001, 11:13 AM Hi, will check in later after our washer buying trip. Peggy LilyG 05-06-2001, 12:29 PM Ann: Thanks for the tip on the Kashii Bars. Im gonna make them later this afternoon. I got all the stuff to make them. Peggy: Have fun buying a new washer! Im off to play in the yard. Its a beautiful day here. Lizziepie 05-06-2001, 11:12 PM Lily: Hope you like them. They do hit the spot when you are craving something sweet.:) Peggy: Hope you found a washer that would take giant loads. Then you don't have to do laundry so often. :D Tell us all about it. Time to hit the hay.:dz: Ann slavika 05-06-2001, 11:40 PM  Hi Everybody I woke up still very achy but really not too bad other then that. :) DH was a little better today and says he is going to his office tomorrow. We managed to take our family out for dinner, and had a very nice time. I tried to save up as many points as I could for tonight's dinner. I think I was still over since I had BBQ ribs, but boy were they ever good. I bet I haven't had BBQ ribs for a year. It was raining when we arrived at the restaurant and just pouring when we left. Everybody was running for the van except the Princess and I. She said, "let's walk really slow Baba so I can feel the raindrops on my head." So there we are walking really really slow, and the rest of them are just running. By the time we got there, her hair is soaked and she has very very long hair and I looked like I just stepped out of the shower. They all thought we (well I) was nuts, but then the Princess said to me, "thank you for walking slow with me Baba". She just loved it, and I kind of did too. Tonight I watched the first two hours of "The Judge". Anybody else watch it? I think I'll say good night, and I hope you all have a good day tomorrow. Night. flaggies 05-07-2001, 02:14 AM G'day all, A very wet and miserable day here in Sydney. A great day to practice with my Webpage software. It is just fantastic the things you can achieve but I am a very slow learner. Lucky I don't do this for money, it will be a little while before I have my webpage up and running. In the meantime I am having fun messing about with it. Slavika hope you are feeling better, at least the task of starting a new thread has again been taken care of :) I am not too sure about enjoying walking in the rain, in a tropical climate it is wonderful, but Canada?????? Glad you and your grand daughter enjoyed it though. Ann I am not sure what it is with my digestive system, I did have a procedure to check if I had Hpylori bacterium but they found an ulcer instead :(. I also had my gallbladder removed about 7 months ago, but it still is not right. The diet he suggested I go on is a 14 day Toxin reducing diet, this is it as follows: Sip hot water 1 cup 3 x per day Sip hot ginger water after meals (1/8 teaspoon ginger powder in 1 cup of hot water) Aloe Vera Juice 25 - 30 mls 3 x per day. AVOID Bread Past Left over food Reheated refrigereated food or frozen foods Processed foods Prepacked potato or corn chips Red meat Cheese, yoghurt Peanuts, peanut butter fried and oily foods (fried eggs, sausages, chips, bacon etc.) tea, cofeee, iced or chilled beverages and water FAVOUR Fresh foods, recently cooked vegetables - steamed fresh vegetable soups (not instant packet or canned soups) fruit well ripened chicken small amounts if required fish small amounts if required herbal teas basmati rice or brown rice. After sticking to this for 14 days one is to return to their homeopath. As you can see not a great deal of scope. I have decided to see an iridologist in Melbourne and see what he/she says. I don't think the above diet could do any harm but it is quite restrictive. Peggy hope you have found yourself a new washing machine. Your experience with your dog reminds me of my two dogs who are on a permanent holidays with a friend of mine. They are two little pappilions. I do miss them, though not the sort of messes that they can create as you described. I am lucky that my friend was willing to have them, as they are getting a bit old, I take care of the vet fees and they have a wonderful new home out in the country. My friend breeds Alpaca's. Four more sleeps and we are off to Melbourne. I am very keen to get going again. I have started packing, I like to be organised. It is amazing what one collects over such a short period of time that we have been here. Lily do you have a large garden? I do so enjoy gardening. We went to the botanical gardens here in Sydney yesterday. It was very nice but there is nothing like getting a bit of dirt under your nails out of your own garden. I planted some camelias shortly before I went away. I ask my son how they are but he only calls in now and again and is not interested in the garden! Another thing I will look forward to seeing when I get home. Have a great day all Cheers Maria painter5 05-07-2001, 07:55 AM Good Morning, Finally had a little rain last night - it was very welcome. Supposed to be a rainy week. Looks like we are all getting rain. What a grandma you are Slavika to go walking in the rain. I hope you don't the flu stuff back. Sometimes it is the simple things in life that makes kids happy. Maria I envy you being able to grow camelias. We are too far north to grow them. I have tried with some tropical things. I have a mandevilla that I got last year. I brought in for the winter and now it is back outside but I don't think it is doing too well. I like to grow lavender. I love the scent of it. It is probably my favorite smell. Ann my new washer which doesn't come till Weds. is oversize. It is a Kenmore. We went to Sears since it was the closest and they were on sale. Also wanted someone who would take the old one away. I got one with a real porcelain drum. I didn't realize that they all were not. My old was started to rust in the drum. It had a painted on porcelain finish. What do I know. No one is allowed to get any clothes dirty until Weds. Since dh has a construction job going on I see another trip to the laundromat. Yuck! Trudy you have been very quiet - are you allowed out yet? I have to go look up the Kashi bar recipe - since you can freeze them I would like to try them. Have a thin Monday, Peggy LilyG 05-07-2001, 10:37 AM Ann: I did like them they were very good! Thanks for the recipe. Slavika: You are such a great BABA. I dont think I would of walked slow thru the rain with Princess. That was very sweet of you! Glad you still got to make it to dinner! Maria: My that is a really strict diet you have to be on. No my garden isnt that big. But I do love to plant pretty flowers every year. I love going to the botanical gardens. They are so pretty! I dont have that kind of patience to keep something like that up so I just have a small one. Peggy: Feel for you having to make another trip to the laundra mat. I hate going to them! But Wednesday you will be all set again. Do try the Kashi bars they are good! Trudy: Yes where are you? Geri 05-07-2001, 05:49 PM Slavika what better thing for a "BaBa" to do than walk in the rain with a princess? She won't remember the toys and junk you buy but I'll bet she will remember that walk and both her children and grandchildren will be the benefactors. WTG. Your grandson will remember that cape too. 2 years ago my DIL (the good one) called me at 6 o'clock one night and said Adam needed a costume for a program for school the next day. She had bought a quickie pattern and the fabric and wanted to know if I would come "help". (I would like to see the genius who could make that in 2 hours or less.) About 5 hours later I got finished. Adam's costume was the hit of the program and he is still running around in that Robin Hood cape and playing with the other stuff. (You know how much DIL helped. At least I didn't have to cook supper and wash dishes that night.) We had an honest to goodness tornado Friday night. Nobody was killed and our home and property didn't get damaged so we feel blessed slavika 05-07-2001, 06:11 PM  Hi Everybody We have another damp dreary day....that's enough already, we just don't need any more rain. :( I have to tell you guys something. I was reading the posts on "Fitness scams" here on 3FC and somebody asked if anybody had sent for the e-mail weightloss/stress reduction/lose 10# in a day...or whatever it said, and the web address was: www.bodyweightloss.com/ and the before and after pictures were very very impressive. So I went there and looked. A few posts down another gal said to go www.herbalife4us.com/ (see the Huge guy in the blue shirt) WELL....now go back to the bodyweightloss site, to "More Before and After Pictures" scroll down about 7 or 8 pictures, ta da, guess who. Can you believe it?:D Geri a tornado, geez that's not good. I'm very happy that all is well with you. Was there any damage from the tornado? Maria I can see you are anxious to get going when you count the number of sleeps. I do that when we are getting ready to go to Maui. :D LOL Peggy naturally we can't get Kashi here, but next time I go across the line I will buy some and try your recipe. Lily you sure were lucky that you had nice weather on the weekend so you could work in your garden. I did buy a hanging pot filled with all kinds of pretty flowers. Flowers are not my strong suite, I just know they are pretty but I don't know what they are ALL called.:?: Well second half of "The Judge" is on tonight, so I am looking forward to that. Tomorrow is WW and I sure hope I "discarded" a bit of weight., but whatever happens we will still have Tea Time. I'll be back later to see how you are all doing. :) flaggies 05-07-2001, 06:26 PM G'day all, Where is Trudy haven't 'seen' her for a few days. Hope she is OK and hasn't caught the flu that Slavika has been threatening to go down with. We have a morning show here called 'Good morning Australia' (yes I know very original, I didn't suggest it :D:D) It starts at 6.30 am till 9 am. At present they are on location in Canada. I switched it on this morning and they are in a resort called 'Whistler' (spelling???) what spectacular country side. It did look VERY cold but just magnificent. They also interviewed a canadian singer, Sarah McLoughlin, at her home. I had never heard of her but the few bits I heard of her singing sounded great. She must be very successful as her home was nothing short of breath taking, not your average little surburban home. We always said we want to visit Canada but this just confirmed why we wish to go there. I thought of both Trudy and Slavika, are you 'gals' (that word really amuses me, I am not being rude but it a description of girls/ladies/women we do not use) living anywhere near the area mentioned? I know Canada is a huge country. I would love to know from 'native' Canadians what is it about your country that YOU think is unique and worth visiting. I'll be keeping an eye out for a CD of Sarah McLoughlin. Lily you are right it is an extremely restrictive diet hence I decided to get a second opinion when I get to Melbourne and take it from there. I mentioned my dogs yesterday in my post and when I finished posting and went to my email my friend had emailed me a photo of my dogs! Amazing coincidence. They are so cute and I have now made the photo into 'wallpaper' so I see them everyday when I turn on my computer:) Have a great day all whatever you are doing. Cheers MAria flaggies 05-07-2001, 06:30 PM Slavika we must have been posting at the same time!!! Yes I am getting quite keen to move on. It is also here a dreary wet day, good day to sort and pack and play with 'my' webpage. Cheers Maria painter5 05-07-2001, 06:32 PM Geri glad you are o.k. Tornados are so scary. Right now we are under a severe thunderstorm watch. It is raining like crazy. I hate it when the tornado sirens go off. Glad it is raining because the prosecutor just was on t.v. The poor cop that shot that kid was indicted on 2 misdemeanor charges. The area where the riots were have boarded up all their windows today. They are expecting more trouble tonight. It is sad that the national news only carries one side of the story with these shootings. We have a friend whose husband [a cop] was killed along with his partner a couple of years ago. I hope things stay calm - maybe the rain will stop some of it. Have to go - storm is getting closer. Peggy painter5 05-07-2001, 06:37 PM Maria you must have been posting when I was. I love Sara McLoughlin. When I had cancer surgery 2 years ago her song Angel was a big hit. I loved that song and I sang it in my head as they put me to sleep. I know I am wierd. Peggy flaggies 05-07-2001, 06:52 PM Peggy just read your post regarding the possibilities of riots in your city. I have to say the only thing I know about Cincinatti is the song 'Cincinatti fireball' by Johnny Burnet and that is going back some time :D:D I have heard you speak of the riots before and this morning I had a look at your newpaper to learn a bit more. Certainly does sound very worrying, I wasn't aware of the racial tension in your area. Not much I can say about it other than I also hope you do not have further riots in your city. And the storms, hope they will pass soon with no serious damage. Yes I will go and do something now other than posting, 3 posts in 30 minutes:D:D:D Cheers Maria Lizziepie 05-07-2001, 09:18 PM Maria: That does sound like a restricitive diet. Wise to check with someone else. I think hpylori causes ulcers. I had one, and then just kept recurring, until I took the antibiotic and prevacid. What does your friend raise the alpacas for. Wool? Meat? Are they related to llamas? Only 3 more sleeps to Melbourne? Slavika: How much fun to walk in the rain. Your Princess will always remember that. So will you. Those are some of the 'sweet' moments.Hope you had no repercussions with the "flu". You can go to www.kashi.com and order products over the web. The only problem is that they sell by case, so you'd need to get some of your WW friends to split with you. I did that, before it came into our stores. Are you telling us your picture appeared?:": Peggy: New Washing machine sounds great. You know the only saving grace about the Laundramat is you can read a good book. And you can get your laundry all done at one time. Otherwise, the pits. I was sorry to hear about the possiblity of more unrest on tonights news. But I sometimes think that the media play to that and almost play a part in inciting. I sure don't like their choice of words. They always seem to sensationalize things to the exclusions for the real truth.:p Geri: A tornado--scary! I don;t like high winds at all. We get some of that severe weather here too. The question is where to take shelter, since tornados come up so fast. We've decided we'll go in the bathtub. Lily_ Glad you liked the recipe. that is the best way to use the puffed Kashi. I like the Go-lean the best for cereal. The Good Friends tastes good, but I have to mix it with something else, since it has such high fiber content. Almost as bad as baked beans.:D Hi to everyone else. Have a good WI. Ann LilyG 05-07-2001, 09:19 PM Geri: Glad there was no damage to your property. Pretty scary Im sure! Slavika: Oh I dont know the names of flowers either. I buy them cuz they are pretty. Then I forget the names of them when someone asks :) Just something that does not stay in my brain! Good luck at your WI tomorrow! I know you will have a fun tea time. Say Hi to Trudy! Maria: Good idea to get a second opinion. Bet that wallpaper is very cute! We have a show like that here to. I like to watch it when Im home. Night all! Trudy 05-07-2001, 11:51 PM Hi gals... I just haven't been feeling well. This damp rainy weather has been murder on my Fibromyalgia and Myofacial Pain. Right now my head feels as if it is in a vice. Because Fibro is a muscle syndrome, it affects my digestion as well. So... I have been feeling lousy. Haven't been sleeping well, so no restoritive sleep for me. The weather man promises that this disturbance is supposed to leave tomorrow mid day, so I know this will pass. I will "talk" to you gals tomorrow... bye bye :) painter5 05-08-2001, 12:22 PM Trudy I hope that you are feeling better today. Take it easy. Peggy LilyG 05-08-2001, 02:53 PM I hope you get to feeling better soon. Take care of your self Trudy 05-08-2001, 08:12 PM Hi gals  ... feeling better today, the sun is shining and that always works for me. I can take really cold weather, but can't take the dampness. :nono: Geri.. those tornados are so scary, sometimes we get warnings, but I have never been in one, and I don't want to be in one. Can't believe people chase them :?: Maria..Canada is such a diverse country, when you travel from coast to coast, you get different climates, geography (from mountains to prairies), different customs and accents. No matter where we have travelled, we always liked the Province or city we were in. I guess it is like anywhere else, if you take the time you will find something you like. :) Peggy.. the first washer & dryer we had lasted 30 years, the second washer we got has had 2 transmissions in it already  .. somehow I don't think it will last 30 years like the first one did. Ann.. for sure I have to buy Kashi when we cross the border. Some Canadian cities have it, but we don't. Slavika.. I went to that weight loss site.. that guy has be paid for appearing on two different weight loss supplements. :s: I guess he thought no one would notice, but you did! Your flowers are so pretty. Most of the time I just buy what looks nice too ~ usually don't have a clue what they are called etc. WW meeting was really good today, we had a couple of ladies who had us laughing. The meeting went a full hour, there were a lot of questions. :D Hubby's sister and her DH are back for a few months. They have a farm they want to sell, it is always nice having them around. :) I had a really nice day today, hope everyone else did too.... bye for now  slavika 05-08-2001, 09:53 PM  Hi Everybody It sure was nice to wake up to sunshine today. :) Yesterday, this little bird, I think it was a red headed Finch went into Sammy's little food hut and was pecking away at the grain I put in there. Well everytime I looked out she was in there. First of all it was pouring rain, and she had hopped right into the "hut" was out of the rain and had all these seeds to eat. I guess most of the bird feeders were swimming in water so she must of thought she found "birdie heaven". :) I loved it. We had a great WW meeting. Our Leader is very funny, and so are a couple of the gals in our class. It was fun, and I lost 1.2# so that pleased me too. Trudy might not have been feeling too good yesterday but she sure looked good. My DIL actually left for Croatia today. When she told me she was leaving on the 9th she meant the 8th. That's ok, I saw her this morning and gave her a hug. Three weeks is a long time. Her children will really miss her as will we all. I hope she has a lovely trip with her Father. Maria Trudy is right, Canada has many many beautiful places. Whistler is just one of them. It is of course in the Province of British Columbia. You could check out some "travel sites" on the net to get an idea of what the different places are like. I forget Maria, do you have one more sleep left??? LOL Lily I'm glad someone else has trouble with the names of all the flowers. I have some friends who are REALLY knowledgeable.....boy I hate that. hee hee :D I have to keep all those little plastic thingme's that tell me the name of the plant, and whether they like the sun or shade. Vegs I know....I never mistake a tomato for a carrot. Peggy well I guess tomorrow you get your new washing machine, that's better then going to the laundermat. I recovered completely from my flu and my DH is much better today. Good night everybody, have a great day tomorrow, and I'll "talk" to you then. LilyG 05-08-2001, 10:30 PM Trudy: Glad you are feeling better! Wow a washer & dryer that lasted 30 years? They sure dont make them like that any longer. This set we have is 12 years old so Im crossing my fingers as Im expecting them to go out soon. Slavika: Your little bird did find a treasure. Bet hes gonna moved in. Then when Sammy comes back.... Oh oh...trouble! I use to save the plastic things to and then finally just gave up on that to! I do know my Veggies to! Just not the flowers. Maria: Have to agree with Slavika. Canada is Beautiful!!!!!! I havent been to where Trudy and Slavika are yet. But thru Victoria & Vancouver and that side is truly beautiful. Fell in Love with the place. We loved it so much we went back 2 years in a row for vacation. I do want to spend alot more time traveling Canada and seeing alot more. Its been 95 for the past 2 days here. Usually doesnt do this til Late June. And rolling black outs again makes it mighty hot inside to! ALAS. Just got back from Trader Joes. Found all kinds of great Stir fry's. All low points and look really good. Cant wait to try them! Have a great night! Lizziepie 05-08-2001, 10:31 PM Trudy: Glad you are feeling better. We have lots of sunshine down here in Florida. I have a friend here with fibromyalgia, and she enjoys the sun. Where are you in relationship to Calgary? I've always wanted to attend the 'Stampede'. :": Slavika: Congrats on the WL.:D And glad you are over your 'flu'. Croatia is a a long ways away. And I surely hope your DIL has a fine and safe time. That part of the world seems to have a lot uf unrest.:spin: Peggy: Tomorrow is the day for the new machine. You probably can't wait to try it out.:D:D Lily: Glad you liked the krispies. Maria: I used to live very close to the Canadian border, and was able to visit Ottawa, the capitol, quite often. A lovely city, and very interesting. Of course that is Eastern Canada. Montreal and Quebec are also interesting, but you have to speak French.Or at least understand some. Goodnight all. Ann Geri 05-08-2001, 11:25 PM Hi y'all, Just a quick hello. Been really busy. Glad to see Trudy is back. Josiesaid to say "hi". She has been super busy. She is keeping Cole 2 days a week now so she can't do her typing on those days. She and her Dh have bought 5 acres out in the country and have been looking at new houses. She checks the thread so she knows what is going on but doesn't have the time to paost right now. Hope we can get her to come back. I miss her. There was quite a bit of damage around here due to the tornado. We didn't have any and neither did my friends. Several houses right in our neighborhood were hit pretty hard. It apparently went right over our house. Thank God. Peggy, I hope you like your new machine. Can you fill us in on what really happened with the kid that was shot. All we get is what's on the national news and I don't think that is necessarily the most objective coverage. It tends to be slanted and aimed at sensationalism rather than "just the facts". painter5 05-09-2001, 12:51 PM Hi, If you want to read any of the riot stuff here is a linkhttp://enquirer.com/editions/2001/05/08/loc_officer_indicted_on.html It is from our local paper. Yesterday there was a good article about all 15 but it is not updated yet. If the kid would have stopped when he was told to and not run this would never would have happened. All the cop knew was that he was wanted on 13 warrants. He did not know that they were minor things. We will have to see how it plays out in court. The wonderful washer came and it works great. Of course the hot water faucet thingme srpang a leak{shower} when it was turned on to needless to say I am washing everything in cold water. Dh is not having a good day. They delivered the trusses for the garage he is building to the wrong address. Now he can fix the faucet and the storm door which also broke. Since he doesn't do plumbing I guess we will have to call a plumber in. It is always something, isn't it? But I lost a pound this week. Yesterday it was more but some came back overnight. Have to go take Max for a walk, Peggy Geri I am glad the tornado passed over your house and Trudy I am glad you are feeling better. survivor 05-09-2001, 05:30 PM I have just been having an argument by e:mail with my very best friend in the world. Her name is Beverly and she is having a really hard time. Three years ago she and her daughter found out that her grandson had been molested by his father since he was a year old. They have since divorced, of course, but the custody battle goes on. Lori has full custody, but the Sleaze is always trying to get the child back in court. It has been a battle, but in t he last 3 years Beverly has changed so much. She has become cynical and gained a lot of weight. I finally just told her that she needed to get back in control, take all that junk food out of her house (she has it sitting around in bowls, for the "kids"). I told her it would be like me having packages of cigarettes all over the house. You don't have bottles of alcohol around if you are a reformed alcoholic either. Anyway, we will see. Last Sunday my dh and I, ds and dil wallpapered my other son's dining room. He and his honey are getting married June 2 in Hawaii. We did this as a wedding present. We all worked so hard (the previous wallpaper hadn't been put on right) but we got it done and the area around a windowseat painted the color of the flowers in the paper. We had so much fun, but Monday Leon and I could barely walk. I told them if I had it to do again, I would take them to Dillard's. Just kidding. My dil is 8 months pregnant and she worked like a Trojan. She does this type of thing all the time and is just so much fun. She never gets cranky. Without her we would have been lost. It was one of those magical fun afternoons where everybody works and laughs a lot. Lily and Slavika - I am the same with flowers. Don't know their names, just that they are pretty. Lily - How are the "rolling blackouts" affecting you? Slavika - I hope you are peeking when the bird and Sammy meet. Maria - When do you get to go back home? I think you have had a great time on your journeys. Trudy - My dil's mother has fibromyalgia, but she has it really bad. They have thought about giving her a course of chemo she has it so bad. I know that when I was on chemo, my arthritis quit hurting and I haven't had it back at all. My sister and her dh and my brother and his wife are going to Arkansas Friday to visit our uncle. Think we should have fun. He never had a family, but married when he was 58 and is now alone. He wants to take us, his family, to church, I think, to show us off. Being the youngest couple (what a hoot!), we will get the blowup mattress. Pray for us! Glenda LilyG 05-09-2001, 06:05 PM Geri: Glad you talked to Josie. I miss her and wish she would come back to. Hopefully she will get unbusy someday. Peggy: Boy sounds like not to good of a day for you! That article was interesting. Its really kinda of sad. :( Congrays on the loss tho! You are doing good! Glenda: To bad about your friend. Maybe she will listen. But sometimes if they arent ready they just wont listen. The rolling Black outs are going on. But so far I havent had them at work. Usually happen during the day at home so it doesnt effect me. I will just sit in the dark at work when it happens and get hot is all. Actually I will go outside and get hot. They only last for 1 hour. so Its not to bad. Lizziepie 05-10-2001, 04:32 PM But we need the rain! Geri: So glad the tornado missed you and yours. That is a worry here in Florida too. Glenda: Sorry about your friend, but sometimes that sort of constant trial makes one just sort of give up. Sounds like you are good for her, since everyone needs a good friend to tell you what is real and to get on with life. Her kids need her more than ever, especially when they are all getting put through the 'wringer' too, knowing that their father is a sleaze. :( Lily: We experienced the rolling blackouts once here, when there was such cold and freezes and people had Christmas lights plus all the heat necessary. But that was just a short time, notthe way you folks are having to deal with it. It never ceases to amaze me what 'greed' can do. Peggy: I guess it is so hard for members of the Black population to not shout discrimination, at imagined and/or real problems. It is hard for me to understand how they riot and actually do damage to their own people, store owners, etc. And yet I know I would not like to be judged only on the color of my hair. I want to be judged for who I am.I think we have raised a generation of people who don't seem to be able to accept the consequences of their actions. I better get off my soap box! Even washing with cold water in a new machine has got to be o.k. Just think of all the electricity you are saving. Maybe it will find its way to California. LOL :D Hope you found a plumber.
