Hi! I am new to this...looking for support and information about Insulin Resistance. I have been diagnosed and prescribed Metformin. I developed high blood pressure a year ago and had rapid weight gain--up about 40-50 pounds (44 yrs old). I am walking 3-5 miles per day and am on Weight Watchers. Does the medication work--is it a slow process? Will the weight come off? For the past year, no matter how much exercise, and diet, I kept gaining weight. I am hopeful for some positive feedback and support on reversing Insulin Resistance.

:balloons: WELCOME, MARLY!! :balloons:
Glad you could join us!!
I am IR and on metformin. It has worked for me with the combination of exercise and a major eating habit change. I lost 50 pounds!! Now If I could just get this last 40 off... I did bring my blood sugars back down to a normal level and reversed my type 2 diabetes. The doctor wants to take me off of the metformin once i drop another 30 pounds...She says I won't need it then so we shall see...
I have heard of people losing 10 pounds or so just taking the metformin and not doing anything else, but IMOP I believe it needs to be used with a diet and exercise plan for the maximum results.
