Hey...Womaninlove took us over the top! I'm starting this new thread!!!

Good for you, WIL, on your new workout!!!! I'm always on the lookout for "cardio music"! I MUST have music while I work out! I listen to music like Tori Amos and Julianna Hatfield and Bjork...girlie rock like that... but it's not enough for cardio! I listen to techno mostly for working out. Currently, I'm listening to Prodigy "Fat of the Land". I think you should check it out. The music is very fast-paced and full of vigor and it's really awesome too! I don't like the techno/dance music that has a lot of repetition, so I like this a lot.

Sometimes I listen to Tori's "To Venus and Back" which is much more upbeat...also 311 or Beastie Boys...but it's usually this Prodigy CD.

You know, I was thinking that maybe we could change our name for the thread. Something like "Cardio Queens" or "Queens of Cardio" or not to exclude men, "Blood, Sweat and Cardio!" or something.....but, then again maybe we should keep the name like this so it will catch the eyes of people who use these exercises....what do you think? Any suggestions for a name?

When I was inviting Jeannine and a couple other to the thread, I didn't remember the name of the thread!

Anyway, I'd better start studying! Have a great night!

Girlie

Hi!

Girlie: I think a new name sounds great! I like Queens of Cardio, although it is nice of you to try to include the guys (then again, the site IS 3 fat CHICKS! ha ha)

Thanks for the music suggestions..."I've never heard "fat of the land" but the name is humorously appropriate for a workout! HA HA! I was actually listening to Beastie Boys "Lincensed to Ill" (remember that one??) and trying to pick some stuff! I also like Connected (Stereo MCs) and Tennesse (arressted development)...can't go wrong with a little "respect" from Aretha, either though! Geez, I'm gonna have to work out longer just so I can hear my favorite tunes!

What does everyone else think about a new thread name/music to sweat by???

Good Morning everyone!!! I sure hope everyone is doing great today. DEBBIE...HOW DID WEIGH IN GO???? I have exercised every day this week......either walking or doing my 2 mile walk tape. I even did the tape and walked on Tuesday. Tonight I will go for a walk because I babysit a friend's little one on Thursday so I don't have time for the tape...plus I take my DD to dance on Thursdays too. I will just go for my walk while she is in dance. I weigh in on Saturdays at WW. I have lost 32.4 since last June. I have lost 6 pounds in the past 5 week. I am hoping to keep the streak going this week as well. I have a goal to lose 7 pounds by Easter. So far so good. The weather has been great here in MD and Spring is here. It sure motivates you to stay on program and get that exercise in.

HERE IS TO A GREAT THURSDAY WITH LOTS OF EXERCISE!!!! Have good one ladies!!!

Hi Everyone - I'm on my way to weigh-in this morning & thought I'd check in here first while I have a minute. Wish me luck;)

I don't know about changing the threads name you guys - I like it the way it is. I can always find our thread easily and the name of the thread is what brought me here in the first place for all our your support & encouragement. Just my thoughts....:) Didn't Rose start the thread originally w/this name? What are her thoughts?

Hope everyone is having a great day! Take Care.

Good morning everyone!

Nona-Thanks for remembering me:D! I agree that we should keep the name the same. I know it's a bit long but it's been that way for a year now and it really does say it all. My intention was to draw in all types of exercisers to post here and give support. But there is no rule that says another thread can't be started. We can have this thread and if others would like to do a Cardio Queen thread that's great. I'll still keep this one going though. Once again thanks for keeping me in mind.:) How did your weigh-in go? Post when you can.

These threads really do roll along. I've been so busy at work that I haven't been able to keep up:dizzy:! It sounds like you are all doing great. Keep up the great work. I don't think I qualify as a "Cardio Queen" yet but hopefully one day soon I will. Gotta get back to work!

Hello everyone!! Glad to see everyone still going strong and on track. I exercised today and actually I have felt so much better since I started doing it more regularly.

Girlie- I made my graham cracker snack last night. I used honey made low fat cinnamon crackers and put 2 tablespoon of FF coolwhip in the middle put it in the freezer. Boy, was it good.

I have lost another pound so I am happy about that. One pound at a time I suppose.

Hope everyone is having a great day. Take care

When these thread were started over a year ago BY ROSE ideas for names were suggested. HOWEVER, the final decision came down to the owner, ROSE. Since then, Rose has worked her butt off to keep this thing going. When only 3 of us where posting it was ROSE that kept it alive. No one would start the threads, except Rose. When no one would post for days, there she was posting, trying to get us motivated. Did I make it clear ROSE! Rose is the owner of this thread. She has EARNED it!

WIL ~ you only have a few posts in, so you don’t know the sweat that Rose has put into keeping her baby alive. Let me tell you….she has sweat keeping this alive and the name STAYS!

This is not a point to be argued. It is Rose’s baby and the name stays.

And Girlie ~ I don’t remember Rose giving you permission to take over her thread. If you need to own a thread, go start one, but don’t presume to take over Rose’s! Oh, and it's YEAH! not Yay!

In the words of a friend of mine ~ Nuff Said!

Hi Everyone!!!

Wow! Everyone seems to be doing great.....

Well, I weighed in and gained 0.5 lb. I have to tell you I am frustrated about that. It's been 2 months or so that I have been struggling with this one pound. UGH! I have decided I am going to have to cut out the snacks. I don't go over in points but I think I am snacking too much (6pts or so a day..not good!). I went and threw out the cool whip. I will have to keep away from bananas for awhile..if I have bananas I have to have cool whip so they will both have to be kept away for awhile. I am not giving up but I need to try different things to see what's going to work. I didn't do my machine yesterday. I needed a break from it. Boy do I need that VCR..LOL. I did walk 3.54 miles yesterday so that was good. I will forge ahead & try to break this plateau I'm on even if I have to pound the lbs off....LOL

I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well....Keep up the great work everyone!!

Emmy congrats on your 1 lb loss. One pound at a time & you will get to your goal :)

Nona, update with your weigh in when you get a chance....

Take care everyone & have a great day!!
Debbie

Thanks for congratulating me on my one pound Deb. Slowly but surely I will get there. I was checking out ebay today and they have several of the 123 mile leslie sansone tapes up for auction. I just type in her name and they come up. I don't know if you buy things from ebay but I thought I would let you know. Also on amazon I think you can get her on dvd's. Just in case you are interested. I bet you will be glad to get your vcr back. Don't let that .5 pound get you down. Keep working at it eventually it will come off. We can do this!!

Everyone else I hope you are doing well. See ya.

Thanks Emmy for the encouragement :) I will have to check ebay again. Last time I checked they had a lot of the walking for entire family tapes listed. I'll check amazon too because we got a DVD Player for christmas. If I can find one on DVD that will be great!

Hope everyone is having a good day...

I did it under profile. I uploaded it from my computer and they are hosting it so it should always be there. Who knows though. You do it under profiles. At the bottom ~ Avatar I think it is. You can choose one of theirs or link your own.

 Hi all...I come across your thread and it looks fun and interesting to me...OK if I join you? I was on another thread and everyone left....I guess they are lost in cyberspace or in the kitchen eating! A little bit about myself...I have lost 60 pounds on WW and have been Lifetime for a year....I also have put on about 5 pounds and am a little over my goal now and am exercising very hard to get it to move....:( I am from Indiana but I live in Florida in the winter (I know, I am so lucky :) We are going back home to Indiana for the summer May 3...anyhow with this beautiful weather I have no excuse not to exercise, so I walk about 5 miles and bike and go to the gym 3 days a week...I use the treadmill and elliptical there & weights but I also have my own elliptical up north....I weighed in today and was down 2.6 so I am excited :D: 1 more lb. and I won't have to pay anymore....It is a struggle....We are eating SubWays this week AND I LIKE THAT!
I noticed Debbie mentioned the number of steps you walk...Do you have a Sportbrain? I do and I love it :) It really motivates me to walk and get those steps and have a happy heart :) I won't rattle on any longer but I will enjoy posting with all of you... Judy

Hi Judy,
I'm glad you decided to join us. What is a sportbrain? I've never heard of that before. I like the step concept too and I'm going to get a pedometer shortly so I can track my steps. A big congrats by the way on the 60 pound weight loss. That is amazing:D! I use an elliptical at home called the Orbitrek. I really love mine. It really works me out. And where did you find the smilies legend? I can't find it since they changed the board. If you could help that would be great. I know you wil enjoy it here. We have all types of exercisers on here. Some do Leslie's walking tapes others go to the gym and others walk around the neighborhood. Any type of exercise goes on this board. I'm so glad you found us:D! I hope you post often:).

Hey Rose, I'll find you a Rose and walk you through how to do it.

Judy, nice of you to join us. This is a fun place, although I've been away for a while. I have to have surgery on my foot, so I can't walk right now. I was on WW and will be back on again sometime soon, money too tight right now, that's why I post here and at Dotti's board. For support in this tight time. Glad you joined! Rose has done a great job with this thread and you'll like it.

Hi Rose  I saw the Sportbrain advertised in one of the Fitness magazines...It is kind of like a pedometer. You wear it on your waist and it is electronic. It comes with a port that you plug the telephone line into to transmit the info to a web page that you set up. I bought it on Amazon.Com...look it up :) It really motivates me to walk and look at my progress! I can't remember where I found the Smilies Legend....I will continue to look...maybe someone else will know....later.... Judy....Also, thanks for the Welcome....I like to post so you will be hearing from me often

Hi Judy :) I use the WW pedometer (1-2-3 version). I love wearing my pedometer. I really didn't realize how much walking I was actually doing. I always try to make sure I get in at least 10,000 steps a day. On average I do about 3-4miles a day. Congrats on your weight loss! That is great. I have been on WW for a year & have lost 53 lbs. I have 13.5 lbs left to goal. I seem to be stuck for the last 2mos but I am not giving up. Hope to see you around here often :)

Take care & welcome :)

I am stunned.

First, to ROSE: By agreeing that a name change might be a good idea, I in no way meant to discredit you and all of the hard work you have obviously put into this thread. I have been very motivated by a terrific bunch of people on this thread, a thread that YOU began. I am quite sure that Girlie meant no disrespect either. I hope you are not upset by the suggestion.

NASCAR woman: I'm sure that when Rose started this thread, she intended it to be supported by motivated people. It is those very people, including Rose, who have continued to help keep it alive and kicking. If you would have looked back, you would have seen that Girlie was worried about stepping on Rose's toes when she expanded the thread when Rose was unable to. I'm sure Rose saw that as helpful. No one is trying to discredit Rose. She is a thoughtful, motivating person.

Yes, I only have a few posts. That is because after 2 years of browsing this site, this is the first thread I have posted to and stuck with, as I felt like it was a safe home to keep motivated and to motivate others. Until now. Your angry post has made me think twice about staying here. Your assumptions about people wanting to "take over" are wrong. The last straw for me was your attack on Girlie's spelling "yeah" incorrectly. That is so petty I can't even believe you would write something like that. Girlie has been very positive, as have I. If you have some "control" issues you need to work out, do it somewhere else. This is about exercise and support, not about attacking those who are trying to improve their lives. Good luck with your goals.

I hope everyone else is staying on track. I regret that the post has taken this turn. Good luck to all of you.

Hey, I really didn't think I was doing anything wrong..Rose, I apologized in my PM to you...

NASCAR Woman...I honestly didn't know there was some sort of seniority/behavioral guidelines to the board...this is the first thread I've been able to really stay motivated by. As Womaninlove said, that's the most important thing here, to help each other stay motivated, and we were. If I offended you, Rose, I'm sorry as I explained - I figured if anyone had a problem something they'd have the courtesy to PM me. Anyway, I felt so good today because I was so busy at work and I finally got a chance to post, only to see your message, and it really got me down. Plus, you haven't exactly been around the past few weeks yourself, only to jump in and break up this great positivity that we seemed to have going.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was really excited by this thread, seeing how it was moving along so swiftly and everyone was so POSITIVE, until NASCAR's post... :(

Evidently I'm not wanted here. I wish everyone success, because I know you all can do it, just like I will. Rose, don't be upset with me because of anything. Above all this, you definitely are the original Elliptical Queen. Everyone else, Debbie, Nona, Denise, POGO, Jeannine, Philly, Emmy - thanks for your positivity. I'm doing really well and will miss learning about you! PM me and let me know how you're doing any time!

Girlie,
I am so sorry for what happened here  I agree that you were only trying to help! I hope these threads remain positive....we have enough negativity in our lives without this :( Maybe you will reconsider and decide to stick around, but if not I want to wish you success with your journey ;) You can do it! It takes time believe me....Patience is the key.

First to WIL, I was only trying to point out that Rose has been this thread. Rose is this thread. Beyond that, she is my friend and Girlie hurt her by taking over and trying to change the name. Yes, I was defending my friend, but not in anger. I do believe, if you will read, that I said I was “miffed.” I was miffed that someone was trying to take over and change the name. I was angry that my friend was hurt. We are relegated to go by when someone signed up and how many posts they have because on this site you can lurk, unlike other sites out there. I went with the information provided to me by the board, there was no offense to be taken by you in what I said to you.

Girlie, I have never been one to hold back when someone is being hurt. That’s a big problem in today’s society. People don’t stand up for people anymore. People turn blind eyes to people in pain. We walk real fast past that guy on the corner that’s begging for money for food when we should be taking him to McDonalds and getting him a burger. We close our windows when a woman screams for help as her husband beats her, when we should be calling the police or doing something to stop it. We have become a society that just doesn’t care or want to be bothered. I can’t be like that anymore. I can’t stand idly by when someone I care about is getting hurt. Dale’s death taught me that.

I know what you were trying to do was not as severe as what I wrote, but it comes down to you hurting a friend of mine. And a hurt is a hurt none the less.

Should I have not spoken up? No, then I would be turning my back on someone who was hurt. I make no apologies for speaking up. What you were trying to do was wrong and Rose was too hurt to say anything.

I chose my words carefully, as they say women assert with words and men with fists. I did not do it to hurt you, but to give you and anyone else who would try and take over a wake up call.

When someone starts a thread and nurtures it for over a year it becomes very personal to that person. They “own” that thread, for lack of a better word. It is an unwritten rule of message board posting. It is not just this board, but all other boards out there.

Girlie, lastly I would like to say, we do not want to see you leave. Nor do we want to see WIL leave. We just don’t want you changing things or taking them away. Rose has worked way too hard and it really hurt her when you tried to change the name. That was just not the right thing to do. Nor would leaving be. You are a supportive person and I was not saying LEAVE. I was saying things need to stay the same and this is why. Please stay.

Girlie

Thanks for your help everyone.

NASCAR: Thanks for your reply...I understand about helping friends...I think you could have done it in a more discreet way instead of disrupting the enthusiasm on the board. I've seen a few of your other posts on the board, and I think there's a difference between helping out and jumping in so much that you affect more than the person who you're trying to help. Now it seems like everyone is hesitant to post anymore to avoid the tension here.

Rose: Thanks for your message, but I just wished you'd have said something to me way back a couple threads ago when I first started a new thread, instead of telling someone else you were hurt. I don't know anything about all these boards and "ownership" of threads and all that. I can't post anymore and be friendly and upbeat with you guys because I really felt like I was jumped on. No hard feelings, I'd just rather find a new thread to post at.

Best wishes to ALL of you :)

Girlie
