Angry Off Topic: Present for a 6 year old

I have to buy a gift for a 6 year old little boy. I was thinking maybe a remote control car. Anyone have some suggestions?

If you want to make the kid happy-anything with bells and whistles (usually battery run!!)

If you want to make the parents happy-SOMETHING QUIET!!!

What about a "See and Say" or one of those books that also has buttons you can push for sounds?

For the 6 year the remote control car would be okay (just make it one that's not too complicated ...check the age on the box) or maybe anything Spiderman or Hulk ...

Ruth ... my Godson is almost 4 ... he's into stuff like flashlights (bought him a Fischer Price flashlight that flashes different colors) and tools ... those work benches that they bang the plastic pegs into, plastic wrenches, etc ...

Sflake, a remote controlled car sounds like a great idea. Or... dare I suggest it... software. (educational, yet fun)

A four-year old, Ruth? Yeah... those books ARE a good idea, Den. And your ideas, too, Nikki!

I can tell what NOT to buy. Guns, clothing and "regular" books.

And thanks from me too! I think I may go with the flashlight idea. Next stop - ToysRUs!

An idea for the 4 and 6 may be "rescue heroes". (Probabl more for the 4 yr old though) Great positive influences. Also, simple leggo sets. Some follow Star Wars or other series
