Default Tuesday Chirping - June 23

Happy *sigh* as I now have my new Keurig and the coffee tastes right!

It's very dark and wet out there this morning. It's a real downpour with a river flowing down my road. Yesterday was very humid and I hope this breaks that a bit. Just saw a flash of lightening and heard a big boom of thunder. Sure hope the power stays on.

(Cyndi, I broke down and put on the AC yesterday afternoon. By the way, I sometimes run my dehydrator out on the deck where I have an electrical outlet - keeps the house much cooler.)

Not sure what today will bring.

Somehow, I think I will spend some time on the porch today, watching the rain and relaxing. I have a new staff person starting tomorrow and need to do her orientation so should take a day off.

Whatever happens, I have real coffee! Life is good.

Nothing tops real coffee, Ruth!, and I'm glad you're back in business again. I'd love nothing more than to come up there and sit on your porch drinking coffee with you and watching the rain.

It's a steambath here today with severe storms due this afternoon. At least it's supposed to get cooler afterwards. I'll still take summer over winter any day, though.

Ruth - I put my crock pot or toaster oven on the back porch too in the hot summer. Much cooler!

Linda - I am in complete denial over the weather, thanks for the update (LOL).

Today is my "day off", but I have 3 appointments and need to go to work to do some call backs. I guess my big news, now that I've told my colleagues, is that since I am not improving and all the specialists say I need more time, is that I am taking a medical leave of absence from work for 3-6 months. I've already said I'd work one more day (july 7th) to cover a day off til things get straightened up. I am so grateful to a very supportive boss and staff, and that I paid my disability insurance all these years so that I can actually afford to do this.

I am hoping taking off time will let me eat better too! Eating healthy takes time, planning, and work...which I'm just too fatigued to do right now. I did make black bean salad for camping last weekend, and had the leftovers yesterday. I hope to do more of that!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Tammy, I pray your leave of absence will get you back to feeling better. Thank goodness your work is cooperating so you won't have to worry about that!

Tammy time off maybe just what you need. So glad you decided to take the leave of absence. Glad you have a supportive boss too.

Ruth yippee for coffee and AC mine is cranking away

Linda I hope it cools off too......especially for Pearlrose!

Never got here yesterday. Was up and out early to babysit for Ed. He had an interview at work. Jen, his wife, stayed home last week with their youngest who was sick. She is a teacher and this is the last week of school here. Their oldest was running a fever and had a case of the yuckies. So I learned how to play Mindcraft. He is such a sweet child, well spoken and polite. I was there most of the day so nothing got done here. Too hot anyway.

I've been feeling out of sorts lately. Just pretty blah. Plus a bad run this week of PMS is not helping matters either. Three days of poor choices equalled a 4 pound gain ugh! At least I have 7 days to get back to where I was June 1st. Sigh after all this time I am still my own worst enemy and turn to food for comfort.

Ugh time to get motivated. I promised myself I would weed for one hour. Have a great day

Good morning,

Another hectic day at work, this morning was a first for me, the bridge to cross over the Missisppi was at complete stop due to a stall on the bridge, so I backed up to go over a different bridge along with everyone else who was on the tail end of the bridge.

I am going to pick out new eyeglasses with DS this afternoon after work. It's due, I am like 2 prescriptions behind since I only use at night or in emergencies.

Ruth yeah for great tasting coffee

Cottage hope the weather breaks for you, it finally did for us we are in the 80s today.

Tywnn I will pray that this time off is just what you need to get you on track

Jekel I am so looking forward to this weekend, they are predicting sun and only 80 degree temps for both Saturday and Sunday. Hope they don't change their mind lol. About 2 weeks ago, I had same issue a couple of days of bad eating and I was up 4 lbs. By sticking to my eating, I am now down 6 lbs and still sticking to it. I just have to keep it up and that is my dang issue.

Cyndi I hope your arm is better today.

I hope everyone stays cool and enjoys their day!

"Only 80 degree temps" are celebrated by Pearlrose, and I wish we could look forward to that, but no hope.

Our DD#2 will spend Saturday and Sunday under a canvas tent selling her beautiful cards and smaller paintings. The special fair is only 25 miles away so we'll also go down to support her and enjoy the music, arts and crafts, dancing, etc. Last year no rain spoiled the two days and I hope this year is also rain free.

Tammy, so sorry you are having so many issues. Isn't that wonderful that you have disability insurance and can take time off and heal.

Gardening a bit this morning after walk in neighborhood. It was 77 degrees here when DH woke up. I slept in and when I finally went for walk I was really miserable.

Wonder if heat seems worse as we get older?

Good afternoon! The sun is trying to come through after a day a recurring thunderstorms. I was able to get in my walk this afternoon, but the humidity was a bit much. I'm with you, Cottage, I'll take summer over winter anytime!

Ruth, hurray for coffee!!!

Tammy, my thoughts and prayers for you to finally heal. How awesome that your employer is willing to work with you.

Jennifer, I too have been reminding myself that mindless and emotional eating (good or bad) does not help! You were a good friend to babysit.

Pearlrose, my parents both grew up in Kansas; I remember visiting relatives in August each year, and the heat!! Hope you get some relief.

love2garden
, I'm glad you could get out early this morning and beat the heat.

Ok, off to make dinner!

Late post for me today. Work was just really busy! Tried the crack slaw tonight, meatless, with red bell pepper, banana pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, garlic, and cabbage, and added a few tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce to the mix. I liked it, not my favorite, but definitely filling and a good way to use up veggies. Apparently sesame oil is not my husband's cup of tea, however. He had a few bites, said "it's alright" and that was that. Meh. I will get him to eat better one way or another!

Hope everyone had a great day. Tammy, I'm happy to see that you have the opportunity to take care of yourself! Talk to you girls tomorrow.
