Well, I've heard testimonies about the results of paleo but always accompanied with a very intensive exercise plan. With a sedentary lifestyle like mine, for example (which I'm on my way to changing), I could lose weight with paleo but not gain any muscle. So the difference in my fat percentage would probably be very little compared to healthy eating combined with exercise.
To be honest, from what I've seen on paleo, it looks very much like the regular healthy eating choices people make - no processed sugar, eat more fruits and veggies, have fish and chicken, etc. I've seen very few exceptions on the restrictions, like certain grains. So I personally think that you can go with what you already know or choose to go paleo, and if combined with good exercise, you can probably get results either way. I'm only basing this off of loose observations, though, since I considered going paleo myself, but it's already so similar to the nutrition choices I've made already that I chose to keep going as is.
