Default Newbie would love diet buddies :) 40 with 100 to lose!

Hey I am new here and I am loving this site!
I would love some diet friends and ideas.
I am wanting to start off with a Anti-inflammation diet.
I am thinking this is the best idea so far.
I was wondering if anyone has done the Zone or any other
anti-inflammation diets?

No, I haven't. Just curious -- why anti-inflammatory?

I was diagnosed with psoriasis about 18 months ago and read that some folks have success managing their psoriasis with an anti-inflammatory diet. For a few months I avoided sugar, red meat, caffeine, etc. Between my medication and healthy eating, the psoriasis was better and I lost some weight. But then Easter and Easter candy came along ... and that was that.

I lost some weight by just eating sensibly but recently (2+ weeks) started following a South Beach-like diet which does allow lean cuts of meat. Interestingly, my psoriasis (which now consists of a small patch on each palm) has been a little worse.

I've done the Atkins diet which is somewhat similar to Zone and South beach. I ate very low carbs, about 20 grams or less per day. I did not count the rest of my macros. I ate freely, whenever I was hungry.

I definitely lost weight, about 60-65 pounds in 7-8 months. My brother who has really bad allergies, which lead to major bloating, tolerated Atkins very well.

Good luck to you.

Thanks to both of you for your answers

FoodFairie , the reason I am wanting to try an anti-inflammation
diet is because I was reading a book by Mark Hyman called the
Ultra Simple Diet, and he was talking about how inflammation and toxins
are the underlying reason of most of the US weight gain.
I don't know if true but it made tons of sense.
I have bad circulation, and Restless leg syndrome, and hot feet.
I had read that the reason is from bad circulation and inflammation.

I am hoping this diet will also help with my underactive thyroid and asthma

Biki thanks for the info on Atkins diet, wow that is impressive weight loss!!
I will be looking into the Atkins

Thanks for the response. Curious again --- are you following a plan now or still investigating other options?

Good luck!
