Good morning, IP friends! I'm heading out for a business trip all week. This is my second trip since starting IP, so I "think" I've planned a little bit better for it. Last night while I was packing I had to try on clothes to make sure they fit. What an awesome thing to have to do! I started IP in size 16 and have flown past 14 and can now fit 12's but they are slightly snug. It was fun to shop in my closet and think about how I will be able to wear so many items in just a few weeks! I am SO glad I decided to start this diet. It's really awesome.

Have a great OP Monday!! I hope there are many NSV's and pounds lost for all.

Congrats on your losses. It is an awesome feeling. I am ready to clean out me closet yet again. The funny thing is that I really thought everything I kept would still fit me but I have undergown a lot of things. I am excited to watch as you continue to shrink. This really is a great program.

So, last night as I looked in the mirror all I could see was a chubby person. I kept telling myself that I am just getting used to my smaller size now and it is all in my head. But I really thought I looked so fat! I mentioned it to DH and he assured me that I am not fat. Lol. This morning I looked in the mirror and didn't see the same fat person staring back as last night. I am not kidding, it really freaked me out. I suppose this is a normal thing after losing weight. It canreally mess with a person's head. :?:

Congrats again in you success in moving off P1
Maybe it's a good thing.. Or at least normal?? When we stop worrying we may let the guard down that brought us to goal. Daily, I'm afraid when I look in the mirror of who I might see.

Terrified "she" will be looking back at me....

I totally do the same thing. I know I'm smaller - I'm on the second ring guard I had to have installed on my wedding band and have lost like 5 pant sizes but it's really hard to see it sometimes. That's one of the reasons I'm trying hard to wear clothes that fit - if I run around in the same baggy old clothes, I feel like the same baggy old person.

I do this all the time. When I look at clothes, when I look in mirrors, when I meet new people. Then I remember that I'm at least 4 sizes smaller than I was back in June and I should be proud of that! I have a ways to go yet but I'm close to halfway!

Good Monday morning all!

Had surprise company drop in on Saturday - which was fun but tiring, got very little done this weekend.

Have a NSV - a co-worker had given a few bags of clothes that she's outgrown and one of the items was a cute hot pink pair of skinny jeans - that I thought I would never in a million years fit. Well - they fit!!! I will be wearing those with a cute sweater on casual Friday - woohoo!

Have our WI for the biggest loser challenge at work this morning, not really looking forward to it. Don't feel great things this week - it's coming up to my TOM so I feel bloated and yucky. We'll see what happens.

Happy Monday!

How much does TOM affect you guys? I just had my IUD taken out and have forgotten about this not so fun week. I feel bloated and gross and don't think the scale has moved... I'm wondering if I can attribute it to TOM or if I need to start adding in some exercise.

Hope everyone had a good OP weekend!

I had a NSV of sorts.....

I spent the entire weekend in the hospital with mom as she got very sick. In the past, I would self-medicate with food, sweets that kinda thing to help deal with the stress. This weekend, I was able to stick to plan other than having an extra packet on Sunday when things were really bad. The vending machines did not appeal at all.

This is very encouraging to me as I will be finishing phase 3 this week and moving into maintenance. This just helps reaffirm the fact that YES, I can do this and that I am stronger than my past.

Good luck everyone, and have a good OP day.

Good morning!!

Two NSVs to report this morning... I am wearing a MEDIUM shirt!!! And I noticed this morning after I got out of the shower that I can wrap a normal sized towel completely around myself without there being a gap at the side! :p

Hope everyone has a great week!

I am the same way with clothes. I try to hold off as long as I can to buy new clothes since we drop sizes so fast, but I always feel better on the days that I am wearing something that actually fits me properly!

Congrats on your losses and PurpleMomster you rock those hot pink skinny jeans!

Now a question for you all. Have a bunch of potato puree packets. I have found some great recipes from you all but do not have much time. I would love to add something to make it feel like a Mexican savory soup. Thinking taco seasoned lean beef or turkey. What else would you add? This program is making me cook and I am definitely a newbie in the kitchen. Suggestions?

Second weigh in today. Pretty excited!

Have a good day all!

TOM definitely affects my losses that week. But it catches up the following week. I don't think that adding exercise will make a big difference, in fact, some people report that too much exercise causes them not to lose as fast. Make sure you add a packet after exercise.

Hope everyone had a good OP weekend!

Good luck on your weigh in! I'm sure you will do fantastic! :flow1:

I love the potato puree packets, and lots of the recipes are really quick.

I made a mock sheppard's pie (google lamberjules, she has awesome recipes) and used mashed cauliflower, but that would be great with potato puree. You can season it with taco seasonings, add mushrooms and peppers to the meat, and make it more Mexican!

Not sure how the potato puree would go in a soup, although I'm curious to see other suggestions.

The artisan flatbread made with potato puree is awesome, and pretty easy to make. If you made a thick soup with the beef or turkey, you could dip the breadsticks in it. And you can flavour the bread with different spices too. Recipe and review are in my blog.

Wishing a quick recovery for your mom.
Parent stuff is so hard!

How fabulous that IP has given the sense of control that you didn't have to add one more stressor (overeating) to the mix for the weekend. I love how strong ketosis makes us feel! It is so hard not to eat junk in hospitals (amazing how much junk is available in them...aren't they supposed to promote health and healing??? Not so much, I guess!). In the big scheme of things, an extra packet was probably just fine, and certainly better than ANY alternative!

I hope mom is better today

Morning all, sounds like everyone soldiered on this weekend, which is really great. I am heading out to another business trip this week, and I know it'll be fine but I'm in W4 now an still very hungry. I just get hungry and don't know what to do about it. Even if I have my celery or cucumbers in between protein, I still am starving. I drink water, herbal tea, it's just a challenge for me. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Sounds like undergrowing clothes is the theme for the day! I too, went to get dressed this morning and suddenly pants that I wore even last week were way too baggy and falling off my hips. Putting all the size 16s away tonight, and going shopping at lunch for some inexpensive 14s to get through the next couple of weeks. This is really working!

Good morning everyone!! Congratulations on the losses and NSV's!

One week until our vacation, I can't wait. I'm not worried about sticking on plan as we went on vacation in August and I was able to do it so I'm hopeful that this time will be just as easy. Lots of planning and toting around packets and bars.

I have such a busy week until we go - I hope it goes quick!!

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning all!

Congrats to all on your losses and baggy clothes!

A question about WF - does anyone have recommendations about how often they should be used? Although they are not on my Phase 1 sheet, my coach said they're okay. I can see how it would be easy to use them a bunch (ie pancake syrup with breakfast, salad dressing at lunch and dinner) and was wondering if any of you limit to a serving a day. Also, have you noticed that using WF affects your weight loss at all? Slows it down?

Thanks!

Isn't it funny that we can refer to going shopping for some clothes "to get through the next couple of weeks"? Who would have thought that was possible, particularly when some of us may have struggled through periods when we only had one outfit to wear because we had gotten too big for the others?

You all kept me sane this AM while the *&6%*!@ stuff finished doing it's job.

Suspect I'm going to sleep the rest of the day after this ...which is good 'cause I was up all night. Although I really do want a good meal before I go to sleep in my own bed. Last real meal ..no joke.....was Friday evening. Clear liquids all day Saturday and nothing yesterday or today.

I have begun limiting myself to once per day. I saw a better loss when I started doing that. It could be a mental thing. Also I am teaching myself to cook with better spices rather than drowning the food in sauces/dressings.

First weigh in today was great. I lost 5.8 pounds. I was thrilled. What a nice way to start out my week!

My only issue is the 4 cups of veggies a day. This is challenging for me since I've never been a big vegetable eater. I like zucchini, asparagus, raw spinach, mushrooms, green onions, and several of the restricted ones. The rest of the select ones.....not so much. I've been trying some different ways to prepare the ones I do like with varying degrees of success. I know that as our bodies adjust to this new way of eating our taste buds will change some. But have you found yourself liking something you absolutely didn't like before, or is it more that you've tried new ones and have liked them? I just wonder if there is any hope that I could ever actually LIKE broccoli and cauliflower???

Have a great day, everyone!

Dill pickles seem to help curb hunger for me and they travel well. I also take tuna in the foil packets when I travel and split my protein out between two meals. I seem to get less hungry this way. Safe travels.

Yes! I have learned to love kale chips and will go through a bunch of leaves in a few days. I play with all the broccoli and cauliflower recipes but also will eat them just roasted with a bit of olive oil and salt.

For many of the others, I will simmer them in a bit of no fat chicken broth and then run them through the blender and make a wonderful pureed soup. You can add an envelope of IP mushroom soup for some variety.

The veggies do not seem so intimidating if you eat them in other than their pure state. As a puree, you can get through a lot of veggies easily and the soup is nice and warming as we approach winter.

Last night, I made double batches of Zuccini muffins with the vanilla shake packets and oatmeal packets. They are awesome. I cant wait to eat some tonight for my late snack. This helps me get in some veggies without realizing it. It's a nice variety as opposed to eating in pure form all of the time.

Wow way to go IPers tons of NSV's today! Woo hoo!

To the person that asked about WF add ins I was told to keep it to less than 5 a day. That included add ins such as stevia in your coffee, and egg whites. I try to keep it to 3 myself. I usually have salad dressing once a day and maybe WF ketchup, sometimes stevia on my zucchini or jicama, so I weaned myself from a full packet of stevia in my coffee to a half to keep my number lower overall.

Cleaned out my closet this weekend...three giant trash bags of too-big clothing have now been sent off to the thrift store...if I don't get rid of them, I'll want to wear them again and I really loved the comment about seeing the same old baggy person when we wear the same old baggy clothes! Thanks for the inspiration and thank you, Ideal Protein, for making this all possible!

Just got an email from my coach. The reason why my last week's WI was cancelled is because she had her baby 5 weeks early! A little unprepared to say the least ;) She is having her husband come into the clinic tomorrow and Wednesday to weigh everyone, measure, and buy food. They may need the following week appointment free so they can spend time with baby. So I'm going to be weighed in Wednesday (after 2 weeks) and may have another 2 week stretch before my next WI. That's ok tho, I'll keep on truckin'

So here is another NSV....I have always loved the look of tall flat riding boots over jeans, but I was short and fat when that style hit. I'm still short but
a little less fat so I can now zip up the boots over jeans. I was so excited and my husband loved the look. I bought 2 pairs of riding boots this weekend:)

I enjoy zucchini and broccoli, but those two (and salad greens) were pretty much the only select veggies I would eat cooked before starting IP. I am slowly trying things i did not like before. I eat TONS of cucumbers with lunch- sometimes just drizzled with olive oil, other times in a little vinegar. Last week, hubby and I made the cauliflower mash, and it ROCKED! Roast your cauli first...yummm. I spired by this, tonight I roasted brocc, cauli, and a bit of leek at 500 F for about 20 min after drizzling it with EVOO and sprinkling salt and pepper on top. Yum!

Good luck on your veggie quest!

It is finally getting cool enough here (for a day or 2) to be able to make soups. Thanks for reminding me about pureed veggie soup!

Go strut your stuff, girl! :D. I love riding boots with jeans tucked in!

I'm loving the steamfresh bags of cauliflower right now. So easy! I made the garlic seasoned for my supper and my sweetie was laughing at the way I was enjoying it. Said it looked like I was eating something amazing at the rate i was shoveling it in! Hehehhe :D

I use my bullet and mix a cup of spinach with my shake. I guarantee u can't taste it and it's one cup if veggies done!

Hi, I am so happy to find other people on the Ideal protein program. It is inspirational to read all the NSV's and loose clothe stories. I'm going into my fourth week of the program. I've lost 13 pounds so far and am loving the program. I can't believe I'm not overly hungry(the first week was the hardest), and I guess my NSV for this past weekend was saying, 'no' to alcohol at the bar on Saturday and saying, 'no' to mom's homemade cake on Sunday. My two worst pitfalls are sweets and alcohol, so I'm amazed at myself.

I also went off my acid reflux pills the third day on this program and haven't had any acid reflux since then and I was on the pills for a year. I look forward to hearing everyone's progress and learning new recipes. :)

Whew, NSV time......just got back from a friends backyard S'more Fest, and I did not have one single lick or bite of a s'more or sip of hot chocolate. It was dark and no one noticed I was not having any. I sipped some hot tea instead and nibbled on a few soy nuts. I won't lie, I wanted some, I have a real weakness for these, but I just told myself I can have something special when I'm on Ph 4 in December.

And I just thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with my friends and all the kiddos and the food was not even a part of it. This is doable!

Good night all ........ :grouphug:

MelissaKate73 - You are singing my song! When I first started IP on May 1st, I was lucky if I ate 4 cups of vegetables in as many weeks never mind 4 cups a day. And, the only vegetables I did eat were all the ones we can't have at all.

Thanks to suggestions on this thread, I now actually LIKE veggies!! I've learned that the blenderized spinach in my morning chocolate drink is a very easy way to get more veg into my day and it doesn't "ruin the taste" of the chocolate drink like I thought it would.

I have discovered that rutabaga fries are every bit as tasty as sweet potato fries and that cauliflower is the absolutely most versatile veg ever! I use it as "rice", as "mashed potatoes" and the "chocolate cookies" made with shredded cauliflower are moist and delicious and make a snack I plan to continue eating even after Phases 2, 3 & 4. Yes, they are that good.

I even have begun using zucchini in the IP packet muffins posted in Recipes and in Finn Stevens recipes and they are so, so good - I can't believe it. I used to mock people who put zucchini in things. Now I'm one of them.

It's been easiest for me to increase my veg intake by not eating them by themselves for 4 cups but by adding them into other things and baking with them etc. Check out the recipes threads and try some new things. I've been astonished to discover that you can teach this old dog (age 60+) new taste tricks!
