View Full Version : NSV- Non scale victories!

Can we have a new thread for non-scale victories? Because I have one today I'm really proud of.

I went grocery shopping at 3 different stores today, and I stayed on my list and didn't get a single thing that wasn't on plan. :D That will make staying on plan at work this week so much easier.

I hope my boyfriend likes low-carb Primal diet, because unless he does some shopping and cooking that's what he's going to be eating.

So come on, fellow Chicks. What are your non-scale victories this week?

Yay, an NSV thread!

Mine were running 1.20 miles today (22 mins) and biking 6.61 minutes (25 mins). I have run for 11 days in a row and I am super happy about that. :)

Great stuff, Hellonurse!

I can fit into the chair at work easily now! :) This is the same chair that was so tight during the interview that I ended up sitting on the side of my thigh more so than square on my butt in order to fit!

My clothes fit better!

I'm doing this regardless of what the scale says!

I can wear my purple bra! :)

I'm a few pounds away from 40 lbs gone!

I can't wait to hear everyone else's! You folks are so awesomely inspiring! :D

My jeans are getting too big, I can pull them on/off without unbuttoning...

I love these threads.....

Now when buying t-shirts I know XXL is too baggy, rather than worrying they'll be too tight and trying to find XXXL sizes. I've just ordered an XL on ebay :carrot:

namaste984 I've checked out your blog, and I find your determination to keep working out to be very inspiring. I'm going to start working out again tomorrow because of you; we have very similiar body types and I want to do as well as you have.

belovedspirit Putting your cute underwear on makes the hard work so worth it, doesn't it?

Great job on losing your clothing sizes, Mozzy and CrazyCatWoman.

I had a shirt with no buttons, from last year,,, loved it,,,, in May this year I tried wearing it,, it wldnt go down my shoulder, i tugged and tugged and tugged, got my arms thrOUGH but i felt as if id choke due to lack of air and im sure my circulation had been cut off :D I was so sad and ashamed of myself that i had a nice long cry after that episode

Andddddddddddddd, i tried it on yesterday, and it fits perfectlyyyyyyy!!!!!!! (im just happy it didnt tear when i was wrestling with it in May, hehehehe)

HelloNurse: Thank you so much! That really means a lot. Glad you enjoy the blog and I know you'll do awesome working out. :)

HelloNurse, Thank you for starting this thread. I looked for a NSV thread yesterday but did not take the time to start one.

I loved reading all your NSVs. They are all very uplifting and encouraging!

This weekend I bought size 16 petite pants. I am short and have always wanted to buy clothes in the Petite section of stores. This was my first purchase from a Petite department! Someday I will be buying most of my clothes from that department.

Yay for NSVs! Mine was that I had to go bra shopping this weekend. I knew I had gone down at least a size (and I was thinking that I'd probably have to hook it on the first set of hooks for it to work) but then I got fitted and realized I had gone down two band sizes.

One of my coworkers, a regular gym rat, noticed how hard I've been working. He said that he noticed how much I've changed already and that I'm looking really good. Also, people who I don't see very often have stopped me in the hospital hallway and asked "It's been bugging me, what's different about you?"

I had a huge NSV today! Biked 12.06 miles, beating my dad at time and mileage! (By almost 2 miles). Also have only 2 pairs of jeans out of 10 that fit me! I tried to put on an old pair of pants to run an errand and they almost fell off in the store. Thankfully, I saved myself from that embarrassment (literally, lol).

Time to throw out the big jeans so you can't grow back into them!

Finally finally FINALLY hit my first noteworthy NSV today! Long story short, I can wrap a regular towel around my body.. I don't have to use a beach towel! What?! :broc:

This week my boss gave me a pair of bright coral capri jeans. Holding them up she said they were a size 16. I'm a size 22 and gracefully accepted the jeans commenting that they would make great goal pants. That night I tried them on and they fit!!!! I wore them to work a couple days later and got so many compliments - what a feeling. May have to do some shopping!!:cloud9::yay:

I remember when I was gaining weight, refusing to buy clothes that fit. "I can't buy a size 20, I'm a size 14!" Funny to see that that line of thinking can work on the way back down.

09-02-2013, 07:22 PM
Definitely! I'm a 16... I used to be a size 22 at my heaviest and fit semi comfortably into a medium T but Large feels better... have to resist the urge to say XL when someone asks my size up top!

I just biked 13 miles on the bike today. I'm doing a lazy girl marathon and lazy girl ironman bike ride which means you do it over the course of a month. Ironman bike length is 112 miles, and I think I can pull it off in a month. Marathon, of course, is 26.2. :)

I had a nsv yesterday. After 9 mths my doctor took me off my blood pressure meds. 122/84 . Yay me.

Ainslie: Congrats! That is a huge accomplishment!

In fact, CONGRATS to everyone - noticing these achievements are so important during the journey.
My most recent NSV was that I was able to go zip lining with my son over Labor Day! I still cringed when I had to get on the scale though I knew I was within the limit. I wonder how long it will take to stop worrying about being too big/heavy?

I was super annoyed today because I had leftover Chinese takeaway for lunch, and I was going out for drinks with friends in the night, but I just got back from it and I'm really proud of myself, because I didn't have a single drink and did the thin-person-eating thing, where I ordered a dish, ate a little bit but got it finished off mainly by my friends, and as if to reward me, my scale showed almost a 1 kg drop.

My main NSV though, is not that I managed to stay away from the drinks and food, but that I didn't feel that hungry or like I was depriving myself at all. I think this really could be an awesome permanent change :)

I can say I am back OP after a lazy summer and an even lazier last few weeks. I am down 2.6 for the week.

I helped a friend clean out a closet over a year ago -- really cute clothes, but too small for me. I kept a salmon pink top that I loved and hoped I could get into someday. Well, I wore that shirt yesterday -- and it's size Large! I got a compliment on it, too! Whoo Hoo! I don't think I've EVER worn a size Large.

Loved reading these NSVs. Rock that top awshucks! Namaste, that is awesome. Biking is my favorite exercise. So cool you beat your dad. :) My NSV today is a 20 mile ride in 100 degree heat and two hours in the pool. Can't seem to get my average speed on the bike over 10mph, but that's a goal to work on as I hope to bike 70 miles to protest against Keystone XL the end of the month! :)

Hooray for NSVs! I have some too:

1) For the first time since our marriage, I weigh LESS than my husband (who is 6 or 7 inches taller than me).

2) I have sore knees right now, but instead of stopping my cardio/strength training classes, I've modified so that I do front and back kicks instead of squats and lunges...even though I feel silly and conspicuous when doing so. I still get a great workout! Nothing is going to stop me from my workouts!

3) For the first time in 6 years, I'm back in a size 16! Woo hoo!

I completed week 4 day 1 c25k while it was 86 degrees out! Go me!! Gotta persevere through this!!

For winter here, I need a pair of warm outdoor over-trousers, and have never been able to fit any. Today, I fitted into a pair for 20 off the peg from the supermarket.
