It is getting about that time of the year where the stores are stocking the bathing suits on the racks and many of us are just plain tired of winter. I wanted to start a challenge with summer in mind. A thread for accountability, support and plenty of enthusiasm about shedding some weight before summer is upon us. I myself have a beach vacation planned for the first week of July and I am determined, excited and motivated to slim down and hopefully purchase a new bathing suit for my vacation.

If any of you would like to join me in taking on the challenge of slimming down by summer please join me. I will check in daily to update my progress and check on others, say hello and hopefully support and encourage those that join me.

My goal for this challenge is 35 pounds by my Outer Banks vacation!

I'd really like to be down 25 lbs by June 1st.

Means I really need to buckle down and do this. It will take a lot of work, but it's something I've wanted since I had my first little guy :)

I would love to join this challenge! I just started dieting and exercising again about 2 weeks ago and I am down 5 lbs!

I would love to be down 40 lbs by July 1st. That's 10lbs a month. It will be really hard, but I think I can stay motivated and get it done!

I'm in! I would love to lose 25lbs by July 1st as well.

I just started working on my weight again last week. So what is everyone's plan of action for our slim down?

My sister and I joined PF and are going there three times a week. We are also planning on going on long bike rides on Saturdays. We are doing a low carb diet as well.

I started working on my weight January 7, and I'm down almost 24 pounds. I've really just been watching what I eat (lower carbs and processed food) and trying to exercise 3-4 times a week.
If I hit my 16 pound goal by June 1, I will probably try for 22 by July 1. That would put me in the 150s!! I can't even imagine!

I'm in! I've been losing at a rate of about 1.5lbs per week, but I'm about to light a fire under my behind. I'm going all in - I'd like to lose 20 pounds by June 1st. I'll stick around to cheer on you July 1sters, of course!

I have decided to drop out of this challenge. I am going to reshape my goals to be more realistic for my body type, since I just spent the last week undereating in an effort to make my my scale goal come true.

I will join in. I'm new here, so what better way to start. I do best with challenges and I think this will be fun. I would really like to be down 25lbs by August 1st. That's a tad past bathing suit season, but that's perfectly fine I think. Thank you for posting this challenge.

I was maintaining 160 for awhile (trying to hit the 150's, but it wasn't happening), and then it jumped back up to 165. If I could get UNDER 160...I'll take 159.9....by July 4th, I would be EXTREMELY proud. I give myself that challenge!!

I'm about to end the April Challenge so this is perfect timing to pick up a new one! We're taking out daughter to London for her 16th birthday (not telling her until the day we leave!) and would like to be down 25 lbs by then (July 24th). So I'll post my goal as 20 lbs by July 1st.

Coachandrea ~ Welcome and I think that is a very good goal. Any changes to exercise or diet plans to try to change things up a bit?

Well for me I am starting the week out with a positive attitude. I'm really excited as I have been training since January for the St.Judes Country Music Marathon and its finally here. So I will be running my first half-marathon Saturday and very excited. Though my scale has been stubborn and not moving for 3 weeks. I have no clue whats going on. I see the changes, feel the changes and yet that stoopid scale wont budge. Very frustrating.

Everyone is doing a great job! Still have a ways to go but doing well myself.

Starting weight for this challenge was 205, CW: 193. GW: 170! (Though now I think just getting to the 170s will make me happy.)

Delphi: You're doing great on this challenge! We will all look so much better in our swimsuits this summer!! I'm going to have to buy another. I bought a size 16/18 swim dress last summer for a trip to Florida, but it will not fit me this year!! Hoping for a 12 and, while a flirty little skirt would be nice, no swim dress:)

Thanks Delphi! I have to keep telling myself I'm doing great - I've had a rough week losing and regaining the same darn pound over and over again! On a good note: I've already met my weekly goal of fitting in 3 workout sessions this week, and will actually make it four! My legs are getting really strong and I think my knees will definitely be able to handle some cardio starting next month. Now if I could just get my arms (shoulder really) on board with this whole exercise plan, that would be great! Note to shoulder: get over yourself already!

I hope everyone has a great rest of the week! I have Open House at school tomorrow night and then I'm seeing the first show of The Great Gatsby. I'm so excited, I feel like I've been waiting years for this movie to finally come out!

HAha! I think a lot of us are jessicado22! I started this a long time ago and had no takers and joined the 4th of july challenge and then all of sudden this one took off, so back and forth I go. You're right though, its a good half way point!

superheroteacher ~ You ARE doing an amazing job and never forget that. Forget what Darth scale says. You are doing everything right and that gain is not a real gain when you do see it and THATS what you need to keep reminding yourself!

I myself am down another 2 pounds for the week and loving it! Hope the rest of you ladies are doing well and kicking butt!

I was up to 172.8 this morning. I am stressed and frustrated. My eating has not been terrible (I did have homemade rhubarb and blackberry crumble last night), and I have been walking at least 3.5 miles 5 times a week and doing the squat, crunch and plank challenge. If this is a mini plateau, I do not like it End of rant.

Jennifer1966 ~ Just know its not anything you are doing. How is your recovery? You exercise a lot like I do and recovery is an important aspect that we heavy exercisers seem to forget and can have an affect on the scale. Are you getting enough down time? When I was training for the half-marathon the scale would not budge at all. It was go up, stay the same but never go down. It wasn't until the 2 weeks before the race that I started to see progress on the scale because you do "recovery training" for those 2 weeks where you are barely running at all. So going from 13 miles every other day to just 3 really did it. When you exercise a lot your body prepares for it by actually retaining even more water because its preparing itself for your workouts. How is your hydration? The more you workout, the more hydration you should be getting.

Delphi: Thanks for the great advice. I really didn't think i was exercising enough for recovery, but maybe the squat, crunch and plank challenge changed that. I am hydrating well, but I may be retaining water anyway. I will keep an eye on my down time and see if i can push through this.

The movie (Gatsby) was amazing! I don't even regret not getting home until 1:30am! I do feel bad for my friends who had to work today...

I've had a good week -100% on plan. I only lost 1.7 this week, but I'm totally not worried about it. There are high loss weeks and there are low loss weeks. The important thing is I'm down 22 pounds total in 6 weeks! And I was able to resist all the CRAP food around school all day every day for teacher appreciation week -that's a NSV if I ever had one!

Last night was Open House at school, and I had a great turn out! The has been my best class of students (and parents) that I can remember.

Jennifer let us know how it goes. And superheroteacher, thats awesome on the loss. The less you weigh, the less weight you will lose, but that just means you are getting that much closer to your goals...thats how I look at it. You are doing great. Glad the movie was good. I really want to see it as well. I love the roaring 20s. If I ever get married, I would love to do the reception with that theme in mind.

Ha ha, apparently there is another June 1st challenge. I just spent 15 minutes reading through it trying to find my post before I realized I must be in the wrong challenge!

Well, 3 pounds down this week...which is a pound short of goal. I might have set my goal a little low (12 pounds in 3 weeks), but I REALLY want to reach 215, lol. Makes Onederland seem attainable! So I'm still gonna keep 215 as my goal, and hope the next few weeks are a little better :) If not, no biggie though...3 pounds is still 3 pounds closer to goal and honestly if I was losing 5 pounds a week all the time -- I'd be a little worried! ;)

Well, with my graduation last weekend and interviews for jobs, work, and meetings, not to mention my daughters sporting events and regular old housework, I've not been very good about watching what I eat, or getting in my usual exercise. Meaning: I gained 3 lbs back and am back up to 190. Yuck. I really need to stop stressing over this job I'm hoping to get. When I stress, I eat. They keep telling me I'll know something soon, and then I hear nothing. I ask again, same answer. It's driving me crazy. The worst part is, it's the district I work in as a TA and they still don't seem to care. It's like they don't realize that if I don't get the job (the elementary librarian), I'll have to go to a different district, possibly in another state, and in so doing, uproot my whole family. So many people are leaving the district because of the way our administrators treat the staff. It's just wrong.

Okay, enough griping. Time to go do some laundry. And some exercise!
