Default My Thanksgiving Challenge: Taking Action, Gaining Control, and Feeling Good About It!

Today I started my new eating plan. Today was day 1 of 30 and I'm feeling good about it. My new mini goal is to lose 15lbs by Thanksgiving. I'm going to reply to this post daily with how I did each day to keep myself in check. I'm going to post my new weight every Saturday (weekly). I encourage anyone else who wants to join in and lose 15lbs by Thanksgiving to do the same. My starting weight is 183 (went back up again). Ready, Set, Go!

Good luck! 15 lbs is a lot to do in a little over a month, make sure you're doing it healthy!

Thank You. There is 5 weeks and 4 days until Thanksgiving (USA). I figured 3lbs per week would be ok. : )

Default Day 3

Been down with a cold, but still in the game. Been sticking to the plan, and it's been easy so far. Pretty sure I might have already lost my 3lbs for the week. 27 more days to go!

Went great again today! Stepped on the scale this morning (just couldn't help myself) and I was down 4lbs. I'm so excited, I know the lbs are just going the come right off. Can't wait for this Saturday's weigh in!

Default Day 5 and 6

Had to venture from my plan one day this week because I was out and about, but I'm still expecting to have lost a couple lbs this week. A little nervous about my weigh in tomorrow, but excited at the same time. I know the loss would have been greater if I had gotten to exercise this week. But my baby and I got a nasty cold and spent most of the week inside being lazy. Will post this weeks weigh in results tomorrow even if I don't like them very much. ; )

I'm glad you're doing well so far, but a 3 lb/week rate is quite extreme. I hope you won't be too disappointed if the pace slows down a little. To maintain such a pace for the long haul you'd probably have to eat well under 1,000 cals per day, which is not sustainable for most of us.

I was told a 2-3lb/week loss is normal. Is that not correct?

The only reason why I am asking is because that is what I have always been told and I'm not starving myself. I'm consuming approximately 1500 -2000calories/day right now. I've just added better nutrition and protein to my diet. : )

"normal" is a relative term. In general they (whoever "they" are... medical community at large) say that 1-2 pounds a week is the most you should be losing if you are going for a healthy, steady loss.

I'm not saying I do or don't agree, but that is the general consensus. I think anything you lose is an accomplishment, but 3 pounds per week is A LOT for most people, especially several weeks in a row.

I agree with Freelance that it's great to shoot for it, but please don't be discouraged if that slows down.
