Does anyone care to share a good calorie counter wesbite/app as i am very new on 3fc and want to start losing weight with you guys :? and please suggest me some good beginner plans and basic information to start my journey.
myfitnesspal has always worked for me. they have a good community and their database of foods is great. if you have a smartphone there's a good app available--you can even scan in the barcodes of almost every food, and it's already in their database.
Another good choice is Lose It. It is a free app available for mobile device on iPhone and Droids. It is also easily accessible via regular website. It it user-friendly, fully customisable and also enables you to network with "friends". Lose It will log your daily food consumption, and translate it into easy-to-read charts, showing your progress -the good - the bad - the ugly. It also, will scan food labels, and has a big database of fastfood and sit-down restaurants, and most grocery store items to boot. You can also incorporate an exercise routine, too.
I used livestrong my plate. My fitness pal having scanning on the smart phone and tablets won me over. Free apps btw. Very easy and helps me keep track. Good luck
Ive been logging my food on Livestrong everyday this week. I looked at some others when I started but I really liked that one for some reason its layout I guess. However, I notice some mistakes everyday.
Can anyone comment on accuracy? What are the others like? Because on livestrong you will see for example today... campari tomatoes some listings have conflicting calories even though they are listed by gram. I see 100 grams 25 calories or 5 calories. These cant possibly be the same. So you have to be very careful at what you pick. Not like 20 calories is gonna kill your diet, but I saw the same differences for rib eye steak yesterday which is a huge difference in calories.
So what do you all think ? Have you experienced this? Are some more accurate than others. On livestrong people can put in their own foods. Some of them have a "verified" yellow highlighted thing next to them as if the information is verified, but I saw "verified" things that were wrong so Im curious to exactly what or how is the verification process and by whom.
Anyways, what I have been doing is for produce and lean meats, I google it then kind of try to find the best average or most accurate choice on what livestrong has just to make sure.
Btw, I am just starting. And I think the calorie counters are great and the logs are great because we can see exactly how much calories. I will never try to lose weight without one again. Logging everything is very good for teaching portion control and forming good eating habbits.
Also, Im trying to decide if I want to pay for livestrong or not. I love it and I dont mind paying to be a member but the idea of paying for something I have to constantly double check on and verify kinda annoys me. And I am already fairly annoyed in my new dietary state.lol
Would really love to hear about fitnesspals accuracy. I havent been using it but I took a look around. It seems like many of these calorie counter site borrow or have the same exact counts which is like ...one person at livestrong puts in cucumber 301 grams xxx calories. You will see the same exact count on anothre site. So since not all cucubmers are 301 grams...they obviously are borrowing or copying from eachother. So, its my guess the errors occur everywhere, but just wondering.
