Default Longtime lurker, first time poster

Good morning everyone As the title says, long time lurker, first time poster. Being in the 100 lb category, unfortunately I fall under the "need to lose 100 lb category" not the "I've already accomplished losing 100 pound category" While I find it somewhat inspirational to read about people who have lost it, I must admit it makes my uphill battle seem depressing even more so..... Is there a category for I feel like a big fat loser today and let's throw a pity party for me?

Thanks CA Cutie.....going to Canada for vaca in a month up to the Banff/Jasper area for the first time...that's my first small goal - to lose 10 pounds before then... And luckily since we'll be doing a lot of walking and hiking and nature activities it will be the first vacation I don't gain weight on!

After re-reading my first post, I must sound like a real Debbie Downer if I'm complaining already HA!

Welcome Junkie! You've got the right idea, lose those 10 pounds. After that go for another 10, then maybe 10 more. 100 pounds is a big goal, but 10 is so doable

Welcome!!! I was a lurker too but only for like 2 days. I was so inspired by all the ladies here. I lost the first 10 by just slightly changing my diet and no exercise at all and it motivated me to see how much I could lose if I put forth a little effort. I think the first step was the hardest but as I continue to see changes in my body even it doesn't show on the scale I continue to want to lose more.

Welcome! I think most of us who post here are trying to lose 100lbs or close to it - those who have already lost it are in the maintaining sections. I agree with breaking down your weight loss into increments of 5 or 10 pounds. Looking at the big number is just too daunting (at least it was for me).

I also recommend journaling everything you are eating and drinking - the good bad and the ugly. Information is power, and once you have an accurate idea of what you are consuming on a daily basis, you can modify things one change at a time. I don't recommend doing a complete overhaul of you diet right away - it's easy to fall off of the wagon when you go cold turkey. Modify your diet using mini-goals - just like your weight loss. Make goals to eliminate or substitute with a healthier version one food/drink at a time. The other thing you can do is initially keep everything you are eating in your diet, but slowly decrease the portion sizes of the unhealthy stuff until they are eliminated altogether or only a very small part of your total daily caloric intake.

Losing 100 lbs is totally doable if you take small but consistent steps and are patient.

Welcome! This is a very friendly group. I like it here even though I'm pretty much done losing for now. you will, too. Just take it one step at a time. Ten pounds lost is 10 pounds you don't have to carry around.
