Hello
I'm usually more of a lurker, but I figured it can't hurt to introduce myself.
I have been working on watching my diet and exercising for the past month, and am down the first 10 pounds. 40 more to go.
I have only really tried losing weight once before, for my wedding. I dropped 15 pounds, but then found out I was pregnant, and stopped dieting. I wish I had kept up with exercise, but morning sickness plagued me for the entire pregnancy, so I just couldn't commit to it. (The morning sickness was so bad that I even lost an additional 12 pounds, before I started putting on any pregnancy weight).
Anyways, about a month ago, my husband asked me to weigh myself, and when I weighed in at 3 more pounds than him (who is taller than me), he asked me to get that in check. I'd been talking about losing weight for months, but always put off starting, so the little nudge from him certainly helped. Hopefully we can motivate each other (me to lose weight, him to quit smoking), so some days when I feel like giving up, I just think about how I'd like him to be healthy, and how I'd like for him to be successful giving up smoking. Sometimes it's easier to think of someone else before we think of ourselves.
Anyways, I used to be really thin in high school, and was at a good weight throughout university. But when I graduated, I got a desk job, and no longer got any exercise from walking about campus. So all my bad eating habits caught up to me. Now 7 years later, I am finally ready to get back to my old self, and make a life style change.
