So my friend and I didn't go hiking because she was feeling sick. But I felt the need to do some form of cardio. So I jogged in place while watching TV. It felt so good, honestly. I march in place during commercials and jog during TV. In 30 mins, I burned like, 400+ calories c: Yay
Does any one else jog in place and what else do you do when you can't go to the gym?

I am not a gym rat; I actually hate going to the gym. The only reason I go to my school's gym is because they have an elliptical -- I like doing that, and if I had my own I would never go to a gym again.
But what else do I do? I'll do cardio exercises on my Wii Fit (Free step, jogging [which is essentially jogging in place], or rhythm boxing), or I'll play my Michael Jackson Experience game or I'll YouTube an exercise routine or pop in an exercise DVD. I also like to walk/jog on a track around my school's athletic complex when the weather's nice.
I never feel like I'm getting enough of a work out when I jog in place. I personally prefer running up and down my stairs to jogging in place.
I also really love Middle Eastern Dance and yoga for the days my back is bothering me.
YES!
I try to jog in place any time I watch TV. I just don't let myself sit and waste time like watching TV. So if there's something I want to watch, I jog in place and do arm things, too.
It works.

do you guys have issues with your calves when running in place? I feel like I tend to run on my toes when I run in place which puts my calves under undue stress and I don't like it. Any advice?
Synchronicity! Last night, a beautiful, summery-feeling night, I was outside taking out some garbage. I had my ipod on, and it was a good song, so I just started jogging around out there, feeling so joyful at the lovely evening, and happy that moving felt so good. I imagined myself looking like Snoopy when he did his"happy dance". I decided to jog in place to a few more songs, and just drink in the night air. I liked doing it outside better than in the house, because I don't like how the floors feel under me when I jump around inside. It is so coincidental that you started this thread today, because I thought "wow, I really feel joyful while running in place! This is great!"

I do it too, but my calves have always been nothing but muscle even at 274 at my heaviest so mine charlie horse really easily. I feel like I land more evenly if I'm actually jogging.
http://www.youtube.com/user/TiffanyRotheWorkouts This is the channel for Tiffany Rothe's workout videos; hers are usually pretty easy and they definitely give you a good workout! Also, if you YouTube "flirty fitness", theres some good ones that pop up.

I jog or walk in place or use one of my old Richard Simmons fitness tapes acquired during my Deal A Meal days.
