Default how many sets & reps

so i recently began lifting weights and i am a bit confused on how many sets and reps i should be doing. i just want to build some muscle and get rid of these bat wings!

There is no set formula for that. But for basic general beginner training doing something like 3x8, 3x10 or 3x12 is good, i.e. 3 set of 8 repetitions, etc. When you can get more than 8 reps on the last set you should increase the weight.
