Default Atkin's after gall bladder removal

The book says you can't do a low-fat Atkin's. What if you can't handle the fat? I had my gall bladder out in July and any time I have to much fat I'm in the bathroom the rest of the day. I can't have more than one egg yolk. Butter on veggies is not an option. Bunless burgers have to be no less than 95% lean.

So far to lose this weight I've been doing low-cal and working out. My knee has really started bothering me so I'm taking a break from the gym for awhile. I'm wanting to try Atkin's again but I just don't know if I really can.

Hmmmm..... I had my gall bladder out in 2009 and I have no trouble at all with Atkins. Maybe your body just needs time to adjust to the fat?

But, I have a tendency to be constipated when I'm NOT eating a low carb diet, so maybe I'm just not experiencing the "full effect."

Just creeping in because the thread caught my eye:

I can't speak to Atkins but I've tried another high fat low carb diet, and after a euphoric first week, I spent the next two no more than 3 feet from the bathroom. I might as well just have tipped the food straight down.

I'm now doing a low fat low carb (it's the French one beginning with D, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to mention other diets on a particular diet's board). 13lbs in 4 weeks - and I can leave home without fear!

I've done 4 weeks of D. and 0 weeks of Atkins, so you can see I can't offer a professional opinion, I can just say how much better it works for me.

The weird thing is that, although I had my GB out 16 years ago, I adore fat, it's the best bit of any meat: pork chops, pork crackling, roast lamb ......drooool; when I'm not low carbing, I have absolutely no problem with eating fat, it's only when I cut the carbs out that things go haywire.

No bread after 10 a.m., no alcohol, no sugars?

After day one I seem to be ok. I had 3 egg whites and one whole egg for breakfast, a bunless burger with a dash of ketchup for lunch, beef brisket for dinner. Today will probably be the same as I have one burger left and left over brisket. I need to go get some veggies. All I have in the house are peas and green beens. Not bad, but a little high on carbs for induction.

I can feel it 'hitting' me already. I had a good headache going last night. Sugar withdrawal. I don't know if it hits faster each time, or the time I spent in the gym increased my muscle mass enough to burn through the extra glycogen faster than before.

What I've found is that I'm not craving sugar or bread like I did the last time I have attempted Atkin's. I have PCOS which makes cravings for those things really hard to deal with. I've been taking some supplements to help deal with my PCOS and insulin resistance for about 6 weeks now. They must be working! Happiness!
