:carrot: :welcome3: We are the Turtle Group here at www.3fatchicks.com. We welcome you to join us as we work toward good health and fitness in a persistent manner. As our inspiration, we use the race between the turtle and the hare where the turtle was the victor because he didn't give up. We believe in keepin' on by using the skills and techniques we have learned from experience to keep us on track. We believe in giving each other support. Good luck to us all!

There are some great posts back on #268. I started a new thread since we had gotten long.

Good Morning.. I am going to post early before the day gets ahead of me.. Already have my 5 mile treadmill workout done but it is extremely mild outside today so if after work it has continued I might decide to get an extra walk in.. nothing beats being outside and to be able to do it in November minus the hat gloves and scarf LOL...
Itryharder the couch25k is a program that takes a couch potato ( or beginner) and slowly teaches them in a 9 week program to be able to run a 5K... if you google it you can find it and if you have a Blackberry there is a free app on there that you can then plug into your treadmill and this little voice tells you when to jog and when to walk.. it`s done 3 times a week and they claim by the end of it you are running.. we shall see.. I am always in awe of runners .. they make it look so easy and graceful.. I am a powerwalker and until of late was satisfied with that but then I got wondering could I run.. but I always have a little voice that said noo your not a runner.. lots2go has inspired me and I came across this program so well we shall find out.. if at the end of the program I am able to run but don`t enjoy it then I will know I can run but choose not to.. lol.. its always the mental mind working .. congrats on making the best possible decisions for you.. I find it sometimes difficult when people don`t understand when we say no its not because we don`t want to spend time with them but more so our health.. oh well in the end its up to us to be true to ourselves and that will then reflect on the scale..
Princess - I hope you are feeling better..
Banditt - your paint colour sounds very pretty and the kitchen will flow nicely with your new colour as well.. glad to hear things are moving along well for you..
Life4evr - way to cool to the personal trainer.. its always wonderful when you have a guideline in front of you to make it a lot easier for us to follow.. give me direction and I`m good.. turn me out on my own and I`m like a spinning top - which way do I go lol.. here`s to fresh starts and new moves!!
Terri - your vacation sounds heavenly and the perfect challenge to work towards.. good luck moving forward and downward...
CherryAutumn, lots2go, Jar, LaurenH - hoping all is well with you guys..if I missed anyone wishing you all well as well..
Headed off to work and then hopefully the great outdoors.. have a wonderful day!!

Judy - you are really making good choices & they will pay off big time at the scales. Nice you are back in control.
Taylor - good job on already having your exercise in so early in the day.
Princess - hope you are feeling better.
It is very mild today & so far sunny so nice start to the week. I spent lots of yesterday putting back my living room/hall & am trying to not have it cluttered so putting away some things for now that we don't need. Friday will be the kitchen & hopefully the colour choice will look nice. Cupboards are going from white to dark burgundy with silver knobs, and the walls will remain white. Then I am repainting my table & getting the chairs recovered, so lots happening. It is long overdue so will be nice to get done before Christmas season kicks in.
Walking tonight & will rest tomorrow then Zumba Wed. I found walking night before Zumba too much on my knees & they were still sore even at the dance & that probably didn't help dancing with heels. So will plan my activities better.
Really going to buckle down this week & eat fairly light meals & bump up my fruit & veggies.
Have a good OP day!
11-14-2011, 12:30 PM
I had a maintain this week but I think it was mainly water retention. Hoping to get myself back on the weight loss track. Looks like everyone has been doing there best to stay on the wagon. I have had a bad head cold that is going around here. Still not feeling the best. Just wanted to stop in and say Hi to everyone. Will try to get back on soon.
11-14-2011, 12:54 PM
So since I weighed I gained 2.4# in a week and a half. So I am going to take it in stride. New week fresh start. So everyone sends good thoughts, because my eating has been outta control.
Hope everyone has a good day. I am running some errands on this nice day off.
11-15-2011, 08:28 AM
Bandit, smart move to assess your :exercise: The last thing we want to do is injure a "body part" and then have to stall exercise while it heals. I like your idea of stepping up veggies and watching food to stay OP.
Cherry, to maintain when you're sick means, to me, that you're OP. I know there is OP and *OP*, but you're doing great. Keep on working on staying on track. That's what I'm trying to do and it's not all that easy. But we can do it! :bravo:
Life4evr, :goodvibes: :balloons: :grouphug:   to help you get back on track. None of this is easy, but it is doable. We can do this! You're a strong woman and anything is possible when we work at it.
I was a little disappointed at the scale this morning. My official WI is tomorrow, so I'm hoping for a tiny bit more ounces to drop off overnight.
Food has been great. I'll have to boost my water again. That may be it.
Busy again today, but I've started to realize that although I am retired, I'm always busy. It's the way I like it.

Made it through yesterday totally OP and had a big spinach salad with lots of other veggies for my supper. Got my walk in afterwards and did some more organizing at home, so felt really good going to bed.
Life - New week, new start - thats the right thinking, good luck this week.
Judy - Sometimes the scale can really get you down & we end up thinking negative thoughts. So just stay OP today, drink you water & tomorrow is a new day.
Sunny right now, which is bonus since yesterday rained lots.
Christmas invites starting to come in & that is our next big challenge.
Honestly, there is always something or someone to derail us - but on the upside it is nice we have so many things to be able to join in with others.
OK - lets all have a bottle of water before we do anything else!
11-15-2011, 12:09 PM
Ok - just a quick fly-by here... I will stop back for a longer post later on today or tomorrow but had a phone interview today for another contract job and it went really well, it is only a short term contract but even at 3-6 months it will be nice to have a job over the holidays.
Have a great day all!
11-15-2011, 12:45 PM
I can't believe how well we're doing!!!!!
Bandit, a spinach salad for dinner? You rock!
Princess, a phone interview and you aced it! You rock!
I am so happy that this site is alive and well. You all make me feel like I can do this. Thanks for encouraging words. I am determined to reach goal in 2012.
11-16-2011, 12:05 AM
Hope everyone is well. I am just getting off and done eating dinner. so my eating today has been good. I managed to track everything. So we all know that is a major step for me. I managed to exercise. I also had some chocolate that I tracked. Even with the chocolate I am still within my points range. So today has been good day. I take my math placement test tomorrow I just need an 80. So wish me luck. I know I know the math. I just have to remember that. I just need the instructors to send my recommendations like they said I would I will be set to go back. If there is room.
11-16-2011, 06:46 AM
Good morning everyone, sorry I have not been posting much this week but it has been a busy one for me. I have been so-so with food and the exercise has pretty much been what I can get in at home - I raked leaves for 4 hours yesterday so that has to count as exercise but with everything going on I have not been able to make it to the gym.
Well I was offered the job last evening so it looks like I will be starting by no later than Dec 5th, the background check is extensive for this company so it takes longer than it usually does for most contracts but that is fine as it will allow me to stay home thru the Thanksgiving holiday and be with my mom who is due to arrive on Saturday. With her here I will have to get my exercise in here at the house I think, she is just too unsteady to go out for walks, etc and I am not so sure about leaving her while I go to the gym so will just get on the treadmill here at the house.
I have a ton of stuff to do today so I need to get moving, believe it or not I actually have more leaves to rake today but that should pretty much be it for the season as the trees are bare now. I worked my butt off yesterday doing it and some other stuff out in the yard and will have more things to do to winterize the house but I am getting there slowly.
I am not sure if I will get to my meeting and W/I this week as that day is my DS birthday but we have not made plans yet so I don't know what is up, will have to see since the last time I talked to him he was sick with a chest cold and not feeling well so maybe we will put off his celebration till the weekend.
Will try and do my personal posts later on today if I can get a minute to hop online.
11-16-2011, 09:31 AM
Foggy on the way into work, but my co-worker was driving so was glad of that.
Judy - hope you are having a good week, you sound really positive now which is great!
Life - Nice job on tracking everything, good luck this week.
Princess - you sound like you are running around like crazy. Those leaves are a big job & lots of exercise, my butt & tops of legs are always sore next day so we have to be using different muscles & that is good. My place is like yours, got them raked & eaves cleaned & basically looks like nothing was done.
My roof at back of house is being done again next week & if weather permits,
I will do more raking this weekend, then that is it!
Picked up my blinds for my living room last night & think they will look good once they are up.
I was going to get my kitchen cupboards painted burgundy this Fri but have
decided to get them redone in the white. And then have chair rail & table/chairs done in bright colour & spray paint cupboards knob in that colour as well. The more I think about it, I think staying with white is best & I also have a wood floor so burgundy might be just abit too dark.
Too many decisions - think that is why I put things off. ANyway, once that is done thats it til after Christmas.
Still staying on track & hoping for a nice weight loss this week.
Zumba tonight - that will shake off a few calories for sure
Have a great Wednesday

I, for one, do not mind if someone posts and can't get to personals. We all understand that we are always busy, and then this is an extra busy time of year. We all do the best we can.
Life4evr, you know the math. Here's a :bravo: :carrot:  and :balloons: to get your 80% on the test and get yourself into nursing school. I know you can do this!
Princess, whoa!!! You're making my head spin. :dancer: Congrats on the job and the timing of the job. So glad for you. You're very considerate of your mom and her needs right now. Luckily there are all sorts of :exercise: we can do at home to keep fit. Weather here is changing and it'll be :tread: here for me more than boardwalk for awhile. Also checking with a df who said she'd walk in the mall before it opens up with me. That could work too. Get there, walk, get back before dh even wakes up.
Bandit, so many times I look around my house, see things that need improving and just don't have the energy or the *strength* to start a project that I know by the end will have lots of decisions and crazy things happening. I give you credit for doing so much right now. Your house will look brand new by the holidays.
I had a great weight loss this week. Down almost three pounds. I'll WI again on Friday for our group WI, so I'll make sure I keep the food and exercise up to do this again. I've got another week before Thanksgiving and
the weekend when my ds and family will be staying with us., and this can be another perfect week. I am so excited. It is worth it to be hungry now and then and to push the exercise even though I'd rather not. I really want to reach goal in 2012. I figure if I keep on writing that, I'll start to believe it and then I'll make it happen.
:goodvibes: to all. Stay well and healthy, and keep on keepin' on. I know lots of us are dealing with ill and older parents and children and grandchildren that need our help, or with job issues, etc. but food doesn't have to be our solace. Vent here. Get it out of your system and let's all head to a healthier, fitter us.

good afternoon everyone.. today is one of those days where it just seems like you are constantly on the go.. took my DH up for his pre-op appointment ( he has surgery Monday) .. luckily planned ahead enough and had food with me since it did end up taking longer then we had hoped.. while there I got a call that a cancellation had come available so tomorrow morning I will be headed to a consult with a DR for a surgery that is required for me.. top that off with later on in the afternoon my DS has a followup appt with his Dr so this week is just crazy.. thankfully I have stayed on track and kept to my exercise regime .. I have to say though since finding out the change in my appointment my nerves have set in.. I'm consciously aware thank goodness that this emotional desire to run for chocolate and anything "comforting" but seriously fattening is a knee jerk reaction to the change and so far have managed to stay out of it.. costco had an amazing sized red velvet cupcake that I literally had a discussion with myself about how it would soothe my nerves.. in the end I turned and walked away reminding myself that I will have to do pre-op at some point and face their scale .. LOL.. amazing how old habits so quickly surface but am considering this a NSV at acknowledging it and learning to talk myself out of it..
glad to see everyone is doing well.. congrats Princess on the job.. that's wonderful!!
11-16-2011, 06:24 PM
Yes, Taylor. So glad you listened to the "Step away from the red velvet cake." and didn't buy it.
Good luck with the surgeries for you and dh.

Hey All TGI Thursday!
Still walking in the am, food so so, some days good, some days bad!!!! Might look into a different plan need a boost to get motivated again, what I am doing insn't working. I seem to be able to get the exercise but the eating is not falling into place!!!! Help! Glad you gals are doing great, keepin at it!
Must get out of my funk, my boss does low carb and it works for her, not sure it is for me but maybe should give it a go. Will think about it.
Off to hit the pavement!
11-17-2011, 07:25 AM
Hey everyone and a very happy Thursday to you all! Another seriously busy day for me here but I wanted to say hello.
I went to do my paper work for my securtiy clearance and background check yesterday, took me three hours to fill it all out... jeez! But it is done now I wait. They pushed the start date up to 11/28 but I can still be home to spend next week with my mom and that is what I really wanted the most. She wants to do some errands and shopping down here in Indy while she is here and I know that will bring her joy so I am thrilled to be able to have the time to devote to her and what will make her happy while she is here. I am looking forward to "pal-ing" around with her so it will be a fun week and since there are only 6 of us for a very informal Thanskgiving holiday this year we are looking to have a great and relaxing week together.
The scale is up by a couple of pounds right now but with TOM I guess that is to be expected, but it is never fun to see the scale go up so with the upcoming holiday I need to get my butt in gear somehow to get it moving downward.
I will pop back on later to get some more posting done since I see lots of stuff going on with everyone! Have a great day all and take care of yourselves during these very busy days!
11-17-2011, 08:52 AM
Terri, I believe it's a good thing to switch up eating plans when one isn't working. Here in the states people seem to have good luck with the South Beach diet. It's wonderful to get your exercise in and I know the frustration of doing one thing great and letting the food drag behind. :goodvibes: and :balloons: to find the thing that works! Whatever you do, stay here and post!!!!
Princess, wow, the job moving closer is something, but you're able to work it out which is great. Have fun with your mom. It's lovely to have her here with you. Informal Thanksgiving sounds great! :chef:
Yesterday was another good day for me. I didn't get in my :tread:, so I must do that today because it makes a difference. I did get a minor change in my menu since one of the foods was difficult for me to digest. Instead of an energy bar, they suggested eggwhites or 2oz. turkey breast which is great. I'm not a big fan of processed foods and although they are helping me to lose weight, I prefer whole foods. Okay, enough about me. I need to get some more housework done. May tackle measuring windows to buy some room darkening shades. I've put that off way too long. Thanks Bandit for the inspiration!
234.6/183.4/179 and thinner  at 179# I'll be halfway to my new goal.
Then I'll reassess. I want this gone!!!!!
11-17-2011, 09:58 AM
Judy - congrats on the weight loss and planning ahead for your exercise.
I know if you keep your goal in mind, you can do it!
Taylor - keeping up with all those appointments should be counted as activity points, going here & there. I nice job on staying away from those cupcakes. I seen those in summer and they were 500 calories/EACH - couldn't believe it for 1 cupcake (although they were large) But good for you for passing it up! Good luck with all your stuff.
Still chugging along focussing on staying on plan, exercising and keeping goals in mind (thanks Judy) Have my weigh in tonight, and should be down abit, although sometimes the scale doesn't co-operate as we all know.
Sunny day but getting colder - can't believe it is almost snow season again.
Have a terrific Thursday!
11-17-2011, 05:12 PM
Well turtles.......it is another day :)
I've totally fallen off the wagon with my eating...I'm still exercising, but just haven't done well in the eating dept. since before Halloween :( Hopefully I can pick myself up and dust off and start over....I've got to! Thankfully I've maintained all this time, but I would really hate for the scale to start moving in the wrong direction!!!
Terri-I've done low carb and it was awesome! I lost about 45 pounds between baby #3 and baby #4...now I'm trying to get rid of #4's weight....
Princess-hope you gave a great time with your mom!!
bandit-good luck at your weigh in tonight!!
Taylor-I'm so proud of you!!!! How's the c25k going??? That's a great start...just keep moving...praying for you and your dh
11-18-2011, 07:11 AM
Good morning everyone and happy Friday to you! W/I was not as bad as I thought but I was up 1 lb so will need to really focus on the upcoming holiday and how best to handle it to make sure that I am successful thru the next week.
I have to fly but will come back later to get my updates done. Have a great day!
11-18-2011, 08:46 AM
Here's :goodvibes: for you! You can do this.
Princess, up 1# isn't what we want, but I'm glad it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be.
I'm up this morning and this is our WI Friday. See you all over there!
11-18-2011, 10:11 AM
Lots - great you maintained during that time and hoping you are back on track.
Princess - hang in there, next week will be better.
Judy - here's to another day, lets stay OP
At weigh in I was down 1.25# & was hoping for more, but will take it for sure.
But you know when you have those weeks where you get in your exercise and totally stay on track, you just think I would be more. Oh well, off to another week & here we go again with the weekend challenge.
Nothing really planned - some of my gfs are going to Indian place tonight since they cancelled Tues so I may end up there. And my painters are now suppose to come either this afternoon or tomorrow instead of this a.m.
I like things planned out and when things get all changed it bugs me to some extent.
Anyway, gives me more time to prep for them and get some raking done.
No shortage of that.
Have a great weekend.
11-18-2011, 10:31 AM
BAndit, it's so wacky!!!!! How many times have we stepped on a scale and lost a pound and known we didn't have a perfect week? Those are the good times. But what you went through and your loss isn't that much fun. Here's :goodvibes: to keep on keepin' on because the weight you were expecting beyond the 1.25# will come off this week as long as you keep the exercise and OP foods working. I'm sorry you didn't have the weight loss you deserved, but it's in the right direction and any loss is a win!! :balloon:
:dancer: :bravo: :goodvibes:
We're all doing this. I binged last night on cauliflower soup. Yep, you read that right------cauliflower soup. I must be a weirdo. In any case, I"ve got to tighten up how I'm eating so I don't give back any of the weight I lost this week.
Best to everyone!!!!!
11-18-2011, 10:36 AM
Good morning Ladies,
just catching up on posts... wow everyone is just go go go LOL
Princess- fantastic news about the job and that's wonderful that you still will be able to spend time with your Mom...up 1 and being TOM is awesome as I can sometimes easily go up 3 or more...
Banditt - ohhh myyy gosh ... 500 for one cupcake.. that is shocking!! totally makes them unappealing now.. LOL... great job staying focused and I hope your w/i reflected it...
Itryharder - it does work well when we mix things up.. I heard somewhere that our bodies learn to recognize the calorie content and work less hard at breaking it down when it's always the same.. I hope you were able to find some shades!
hi Terri - awesome job at getting the exercise in and I hope you figure out what you works for you..
lots2go - sometimes maintaining is where we need to be until we can just get into our groove again.. one day at a time right .. YOU CAN DO THIS!! I am a Mom of 4 and I totally understand how chaotic and busy those days can be.. I remember just being thankful to make it thru the day with my hair combed LOL ( mine are older now)... thank you for the kind words about myself and my dh .. have you done your race yet?
well yesterday I got my surgery date.. end of February and I am really comfortable and happy with the surgeon I met... I loved when he said you're still young and in great health so I have a feeling you will respond well to recovery ( I actually had him repeat that just so I could hear the in great health part ) LOL.. I am hoping to lose another 10 pounds before I go in and that should put me in a comfortable range... I have finished week 1 of the c25k and don't laugh but I do the "Rocky" dance every time I finish.. so far not to bad ( still not loving the running - I keep thinking of you lots2go ) but maybe somewhere I will have that OHHHHH moment LOL... but I will continue as it is a new challenge for me.. my ds got great news last night from his DR appt .. everything is looking good - as a Mom those are music to your ears..
okay I have a new batch of ww choco muffins in the oven then I am off to work.. it is sunny but cold... workout is already done and I've cried my eyes out watching Regis's last day .. HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!
11-19-2011, 12:03 AM
Today has been a bad day eating wise. So I took my test I think I did well. The only little snag is my recommendations are not in yet Even thoug h I asked months ago. So I need to get those in by December 1st. So of course my anxiety level went up and so did my eating. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.
Taylorsjourney why are you having surgery?
Hope everyone is well.
Quick question is anyone a member online because I can't get into the recipes on the website and it is starting to get anhoying. Nevermind the recipes are back. Wonder when that happened.
11-19-2011, 08:01 AM
Hey everyone, my day is already in high gear so I need to just say a quick hello and get back online later on today to get some long-overdue postings done... so much is going on with everyone these days!
I am running out the door and expect a housefull of people here later this morning, I am taking a van full of people to the airport as they are all heading to florida for the week but then just my mom will be left here so things will calm down later on and we will plan out our week of shopping and girl stuff... yah!
Have a wonderful and safe day everyone!
11-19-2011, 09:27 AM
Hi Turtles, We Rock!
I love that we're all working hard at this!
Short personal.....Life4evr, so proud of you for passing math test. Weigh to go! That eating response was normal with the added stress. Just start wherever you are today. You are doing this!
Everybody: have a great day. I was OP and :exercise: yesterday which means I can :exercise: and be OP again today! Yay.

Not doing so well the last couple of weeks. I have stayed within points as far as I can tell but have gained a few pounds and am stuck. Not sure what to do except just keep trying. I dont know what I am doing wrong. I am not giving up though.
Hello to all the Turtles. Keep on moving forward.
11-19-2011, 10:39 PM
Cherry, real fast: WW's is reducing the number of points plus available starting in Dec. As I figured, 29 points plus was too many for most people to lose. Try dropping down to 26 points plus and see if that shakes up your weight.
That's the scuttlebutt I've heard. I couldn't lose weight until I dropped to 20-25points plus daily.
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Just count as carefully as you can, concentrate more on veggies than fruit, drink plenty of water, eat lean protein instead of fatty protein, avoid carbs as much as you can and keep on keepin' on. Stay encouraged. You've done very well so far and you'll kick off those gained pounds and start losing weight again. You've had a really nice weight loss and your body may just want to stabilize before you lose more. It's such a complicated process and we are in the dark ages as far as I am concerned. Scientific info. seems to change often, but we usually know what works for our own bodies. Good luck. I hope I don't sound like I'm on a soap box, but it riles me when WWs says you can eat anything you want when that's not the case with me. Maybe others have a different point of view.
Best to everyone. I'm glad you're not giving up, Cherry.

Nice day up here & planing on getting more yard work done. My cousin is coming this a.m. to do my eaves again and we are all going out for a late breakfast.
Cherry - as Judy said maybe have less carbs & fruits and more veggies.
I don't lose if I overdo the carbs even staying within my limits. That is just
how I am designed I guess. So just do what works for you.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
11-21-2011, 05:52 AM
Happy Monday Turtles!
Interesting Judy about the WW points, I was just beginning to think it wasn't for me. But they are lowering the points? You really have to figure out an individual plan what works for you. Makes sense, and Bandit you are right too, they say you can eat anything within your points but you really have to watch the sugars/carbs. I always get to a 10 lb loss then stall out. But I am sure if I kept track of the carbs and upped the veggies I would be more successful.
Cherry you keep at it ! You are winnning this battle!
Everyone have a great week move more eat less!!! We are doing this!
11-21-2011, 07:03 AM
good morning everyone - just a quick hello to you all and I sure hope to get back online later for a better post, things are just crazy busy here and the stress is getting kind of high for me, will try and do the best that I can though!
Have a great day all!
11-21-2011, 10:48 AM
Hi to Everyone!!!
We're all focusing on how we lose best. I love carbs and used to start my day with a piece of toast. Now that bread is 3points plus, I don't do that anymore. I also am comparing the two programs, WW and JC. Interesting that when I point plus out the day's food with JC, I end up with 26 points plus. That makes sense. it allows a small weight loss each week and it's a plan I can stick with.
I see how very busy we all are. I'm glad to be part of this group.
Yep, Terri, I think ignore WW's claim that you can have pizza or anything you want in moderation. That may very well work for 20-somethings who don't have family responsibilities and who can work out a lot. All I know is tht I do have to treat this weight loss like a diet. Change of lifestyle, yes. But I am hungry sometimes and I need carrots and celery then, not a small piece of pizza. Oh, okay. enough of this. It'll be interesting to see what WW has in store in a couple of weeks.
Best to all of us,
234.6/183.6/179 and thinner

Hi everyone this will be quick as I have DH settled after his teeth surgery today so I have a few moments.. today is my online weigh in day and I was down 2.8 pounds.. happy dance.. happy dance.. I've heard the plan about the cutting down pts but the pts plus seems to work for me.. we aren't created equal and all our bodies work differently so some things will work for some while for others it won't.. last time I tried ww flex program I couldn't get past 10 pounds in 12 weeks.. I'm now at a loss of over 17 so who knows... anyway still working hard at it.. yesterday I was so mad I completed my c25k program and realized in the end I had repeated week 1 day 3 --- so determined was I (plus totally ticked off ) to begin the second week that I just went ahead and did it too.. maybe that's why the scale moved so much .. who knows... anyway glad to see that everyone is still focusing on making the best decisions they can for themselves and wishing everyone a wonderful day...

well ladies I finished my 1/2 marathon!! 13.1 miles in 2 hrs and 45 minutes, that's about a 13 min mile :) I was happy with my time. My goal was to be under 3 hrs, and my chip time was 2.50, my watch said 2.47...either way, I'll take it!! Super excited that I did it, and an amazing experience! Taylor, you'll be there before you know it!

Good morning everyone! Still busy here with my mom visiting and to be honest it is taking a lot out of me but it is still an enjoyable visit. Food has not been great and I have not gotten in any exercise yet this week so I really need to get going with something.
Taylor and Lots: A huge congrats to both of you on your running, that is just so fantastic!
Judy: How is your plans for the holiday coming along? Thanks for the update on the WW change, I may have to rejoin again after the holidays since the calorie counting is not really getting me as far as I had hoped either.
Bandit: How are you doing? Did you get your yard work done?
Terri: You sound like you are super busy too, hope you are doing well!
Life: how are you doing? Are you cooking for the holidays?
Cherry: How are things with you and the family?
Jeanne: What have you been up to lately?
I have a long and busy day ahead of me so I need to get moving, have a great day all!

Princess, it's hard to pull everything together when our routines change. I'm glad you're enjoying your Mom's stay with you. These are all precious moments.
I'm doing okay. I ate a little off program yesterday (and I mean a little). My weight is up 2#. Now, I hope that's just body fluids, etc. etc. I'm exercising and my food is good. I'd love a scale reward. Tomorrow is WI, so I'll see how it goes. Today I start cooking for Thanksgiving. I've got it sectioned out with most of the food prep tomorrow. My son and his family are coming in late Wed. night and will stay through Sunday. I know there's some babysitting for me (yay) on Friday while they all go out shopping for bargains. I like staying home and avoiding crowds. I've got a baked ziti in my freezer in case that seems like a good idea for Friday or Sat. I'm trying to be flexible. Lol.
Congrats to everyone. We're all keepin' on the best we can. things are going to get hectic, so I'd like to wish all the USA buddies a Happy Thanksgiving and the Canadian buddies a lovely weekend.
Best to everyone!!

Taylor & Lots - you guys are amazing! Nice work!
Judy - Sounds like you are busy with holiday prep, enjoy it!
Princess - nice you are spending time with your mom and yes, it is tiring but nice you are able to do it. I sometimes find with calorie counting that I don't make the best food choices, but still count it but some foods just set me off on a path of bad food choices & lots of damage gets done before I get back on track. Am thinking also that I might need something new to shake things up.
I got my rakind done & all the painting is done as well. Now I need new kitchen window coverings & will probably get new blinds for there as well.
Just have to decide on colour & then that will be it til after Christmas.
Have dinner out at Japanese place tonight with some gfs so looking forward to that. Eating was overdone on the weekend, so have to be more careful.
Lots of invites coming in for get togethers, which is always a challenge.
All - hope everyone is doing great!

Hi everyone just dropping back in. I am just feeling so so about things. Just not at a good point. Stress is no joke.
Princess no I am not my family is cooking. I signed up to work Wed night third shift so I could avoid the kitchen. I may even get holiday pay so that would be great.
Hope everyone has a goodnight.

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday to you all! The rain has finally stopped here, boy oh boy we sure got a lot of it, dry for the next few days then another round but will enjoy the sun while we have it.
A bit more shopping today then some cooking for tomorrow.
Hoping maybe to take the dogs to the park this afternoon, they need to get out and so do I so may excuse myself for a half hour from my mom and just take a few quick trips around.
Bandit: The kitchen is next for an upgrade for us also but mine is the original 1950's kitchen from when the house was built so we need a full rip out with plumbing upgrades, etc so that will need to be budgeted since I am thinking the bill is going to be very high... LOL, too high for right now anyway. We don't even have a dishwasher that is how old my kitchen is which since it is just DH and I is not a big deal even when I did have one in my previous house I did not use it often, just too used to doing them by hand I guess.
Judy: Yes, they are wonderful moments and we are enjoying our time together, with mom's hearing and sight loss and lack of mobility it makes everything slower and much longer to do but we are chugging along.
Life: Good thinking! I like to cook but sometimes it is nice to just go somewhere else to enjoy the meal.
Taylor: How is your DH doing? I hope he heals quickly!
Terri: Turns out the Cymbalta (sp?) does work for my symptoms but the 60 mg was just too strong so I am asking to stay at the 30 mgs, will see if that works.
Lots: Were you able to get onto the Turtles Facebook page?
Jeanne: How are you doing? Are you cooking for the holiday?
I have to run but have a great day all!
11-23-2011, 07:13 AM
Happy Hump Day!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all our American Turtles!!! We will be enjoying black Friday here in Canada as the retailers are having some great sales trying to keep the money at home.
Princess I am glad the cymbalta is working, also of note I don't have a dishwasher, we have a century home and had a 2 phase plan for our kitchen reno the dishwasher was in phase 2! Who knows when that will happen. Phase 1 was done 3 years ago!!!!
Bandit you sure are busy!!! We have a red maple that is the last tree to lose its leaves there is always snow on the ground before the tree is done!
Judy Have a great holiday with your family!!! It is nice to be close with your kids, life gets so busy that we need to plan family time.
Life Enjoy!!! Work your shift and then relax and be a guest!!!
Taylor/Lots/Jeanne You gals keep at it!!!!
Everyone stay positive!!! Keep moving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who are celebrating, enjoy your holiday!
Princess - My kitchen is also old but the cupboards are solid wood & are fine with painting, just too expensive ripping the whole thing out. So with some modern upgrades here & there it is fine. I have a portable dishwasher that actually looks like a built-in and is seldom used unless I have lots of company then I fill it up. It is nice to get things fixed up, even little things make a huge difference.
Terri - Nice you have a century home, lots of character in those places.
Had my dinner last night & it was good so leftovers for my lunch.
The freezing rain they were calling for missed my area, so was thankful for that. Just the thought of that makes me nervous. Snow is one thing but with freezing rain you can't really drive on that. Anyway, is clearing up and suppose to be nice the next few days. Most of the trees surrounding my house are pretty bare, so if weekend is warm enough will do raking once more,
then thats it!
All - hope everyone is coping with whatever challenges they have, make good choices and enjoying themselves along the way.
Have a great Wednesday!
11-23-2011, 11:41 AM
Thanks for all the encouragement ladies.
Judy- At my weight I am no where near the 29 points yet so that doesnt really apply to me. Plugging all my info into the calculator and weighing around 223 my points are at 34. I know that seems alot but had been losing nicely till just recently. If i cant get it started back up i will drop a point but i have seen the scale going slightly towards the favorable side so maybe i am about ready for another downward trend.
Princess- at one time i took Cymbalta for my depression. Just assuming it is the same medecine. I had to go off of it cause it made me feel angry and agressive. All i can say is the withdraws knocked me off my feet. They could have killed a hippo. I hope they are working for you though.
Lots2go - Great job on the great exercise.
Hello to Taylor, Bandit, Jeanne, and Terri. Hope I remembered everyone. On Friday my DH and I are going to spend the day celebrating an early anniversary. It is hard to find a good time for someone to watch our little ones. My eating won't be the best because we are going to some of our fav. restaurants. I will take the consequences and do my best to get back on track afterwards.
11-23-2011, 02:08 PM
I'm in the midst of cooking, so I've got to run. I gained 0.4# this week and am not sure why. It could simply have been a reaction to losing so well last week.
I'll update later in the week. In the meantime, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Here's :cheer: to meet all our challenges and to keep on keepin' on!
11-24-2011, 07:08 AM
Good morning everyone and happy Thanksgiving to those here in the USA and best wishes for a very wonderful day to those that are in the north and happy Black Friday to all! LOL, no shopping for me this year but that is ok, my mom and I did a lot this week so I have a start on the Christmas shopping.
I am in the middle of cooking so just a quick hello before the day really gets going.
Cherry: Yep, it is the same meds and I worked up to the 60 mgs but felt "strung out" at the end of the day and could not sleep at all so I actually went off of it for a few days... that was not a smart thing to do... went back on the 30 mgs and things seem to be calming down now but it does help the joint pain that I am having and has taken away the anxiety attacks that I was getting. Although I have to note that i have always been a very cold person and since I have been on this meds I am hot all the time so either it is raising my BP or menopause is starting lol... I go back to the doctor next month so we will figure it out.
Judy: Have a great day with your family and don't worry about the scale until we get this holiday behind us, do what you know you need to and don't sweat the small stuff right now...
Bandit: Yep, our cabinets could be painted too but there is not enough of them and they are not really the right size for the room so... they need to be replaced but like you said they are soooo expensive so that is one of the reasons we need to really budget that room out because I think it is going to hurt our bank account really badly... I am pretty sure I can hear it crying already... LOL.
Terri: Have a great time shopping and I totally agree with the local shopping, if we all spend money within our communities what a difference it would make. We have Small Business Saturday here on the 26th so I will get out then and do a bit of shopping at our local places.
Lots: Have a great day!
Life: Enjoy your day and I hope that you are able to get a nice long nap in after working the night shift!
Taylor: How is your DH doing getting the last of the crops in? I would just love to live on a farm! My family comes from a long line of farmers but let it all go about 2 generations ago but it is in my blood and I think about it often... anyway, have a great day and I hope you get a nice run/walk in!
Take care all... I have a Turkey calling my name!
11-24-2011, 09:17 PM
Hi everyone. I had a good day. I did eat a little too much so I am paying for it now. For some reason I thought my weigh in was thursday and not monday but anyway. I lost 0.9# which isnt bad considering I havent really been giving my eating a second thought.
I will not be going out to black friday shop. Instead I am doing it online since most of my gifts need to be shipped. Hope everyone has a goodnight. The cold weather has hit us.
11-25-2011, 06:31 AM
Good morning everyone and happy Friday to you all! I have no official weigh in this week due to the holiday so will have to catch that up next week.
The dinner went well and everyone seemed to have a good time. Instead of having anykind of snacks or appitizers this year I had prepared a game that involves presents for everyone and that took up about an hour and a half so while everything finished baking the oven we played the game instead of eating more food when we had a big supper waiting for us. It kept everyone busy, they had a great time playing it and they all went home with a few goodies, so it worked out well.
Today will be a down day but I really need to get out for a walk, I need the fresh air and the exercise to clear my head and it has been a long week mostly stuck in the house other than running from store to store and my body is ready to get moving, I have not been able to get on the treadmill like I thought I would be so am getting way behind and my body is really feeling it.
I hope that everyone has a great day!

Hello everyone.. OH my goodness I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and for those who ventured out for Black Friday - you go!!! I watched the Today show and seen the line ups and couldn't believe it.. Then on my way to work I heard about the pepper spray incident in LA and thought ohhh myyy gracious!!!
Princess - I am glad you are enjoying your time with your Mom and that you had a lovely turkey day.. thank you so much for asking about my DH.. he is coming along very nicely and we have been very happy with his healing.. he has ONE field left ( yeahhh ) so will be waiting for the first good frost due to the rain dumped on us Tuesday afternoon.. I think we could of floated Noah's Ark after that frontal system went thru... he said it will take one long day to finish getting the corn off and then it will be done for the season.. wow who would of thought this far into the year... so for now he is doing bookwork and paperwork ..
CherryAutumn - Happy Anniversary... keep taking it one day at a time.. maybe your body just needed to catch up with what you had lost and now it will start moving again...
Banditt - glad your renovations are coming along.. perfect timing with the Christmas season upon us..
life4evr - congrats on your loss.. I hear a lot more people are doing their shopping online .. they are having amazing savings there as well so I hope you find everything you are looking for..
Itryharder - I hope you are enjoying all your family ..
Terri - did you find some good sales here in Canada.. I couldn't believe when I seen some of the flyers that came out.. I'm curious to see what the % will be for those who remained homeland.. I kept getting email updates about stores having sales ..
lots2go - I tried to add you to my FB so hopefully I got the correct person LOL..
Well I'm working at it still.. I have completed week 2 of the c25k and will start on week 3.. figured I might as well just keep trying to do it every other day to move it along.. I had a little to much stress this week so that brought TOM on a week and half early so I'm sure that will mess with my w/i on Monday but I am okay with that as I noticed my body had a shifting this week.. celebrate what we can right... I will be decorating the house this weekend and baking 13 dozen peanut butter cookies.. yes 13 dozen... I am going to a cookie exchange Monday night and thinking oh my goodness how will I handle this.. so I have decided that I will make up platters of the cookies given back and take them to some of the Christmas functions (with a bottle of wine) and the rest I will freeze and let the guys take them out of there if they want any.. that's the plan but it's getting thru the baking without taste testing LOL..
Have an awesome weekend everyone!!!

Good morning everyone and happy Saturday to you all! Rain is on the way, visitors have cleared out and I am going to go and grab the dog leashes and get out to the park again, it just helps to clear my head and work off the stress that seems to settle over me at times.
DH and I had to pick a bunch of folks up at the airport late last night so we did not get to bed until the early morning hours and then my mom woke everyone up at 4:30 am because she was eager to get home... I got maybe 1.5 hours of sleep last night but will have to just try and nap later on as once I am awake I can rarely go back to sleep. Ugh... family... LOL.
Taylor: So glad things are moving along with the DH healing and the crop work, it does seem really late to be doing that work but we had freeky weather this year so I guess that has a lot to do with it. You are doing so great with your training and I have to say is a real inspiration to me to get moving in anyway that I can!
All: Best wishes for a great day! I have not been on the scale lately and that is a mistake so will hop on tomorrow morning once I have a good nights sleep so that should tell me where I am and how badly I did... lets hope for the best... now off to the park for me and the fur-kids!
11-26-2011, 12:27 PM
I realize I just can't respond to everyone's post at this time. Just know I'm wishing you the best. What I can do is start a new thread since we've gotten long.
Food has been atrocious for me. Exercise Nil. Am heading to the park. Dd is going to have the kids play at Sunken Meadow park while I walk the boardwalk. How's that for support? What a doll! I got some sleep which I sorely needed and I'll perk up once I'm on the boardwalk. Oooooh.
See you on #270 Bale of Turtles Doing the Right Thing!
