Good Saturday morning!

I'm putting off washing the kitchen floor, so I thought I'd stop in and say hi to everyone  Seriously considering going back to work full time simply to justify hiring a cleaning woman!

Last night's dinner was fun, and I ended up the day banking 2 points :D I did go over during the week, one evening Joe and I had margaritas :dizzy: so I'm anxious about that.

Es,
How is the winter wonderland? Wow, it must be pretty. Go out and make a snow angel ;)

I should go, will be back later.
Have a great day!

Hi:wave:

Jen, it did look pretty. Today since it's a little warm it's slushy.
We're suppose to get more Monday.

I'm up 2.5:mad: I can't even blame it on chinese food cause I haven't had any. Oh well, next week will be a better week. Monday I start the 10 week challenge so whatever I weigh will be my REAL weight. Looking forward to it.

Have a great day.

Well, by now Zoe's probably in the tropical sunshine, soaking it up. It was only 3 degrees here this morning.

Es,
I'm in for the 10 in 10 Challenge tomorrow! I've had some very good days this week, but offset them w/some not so good...need to stay focused and not backslide.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We're having the kids and my niece's family here for Joe's birthday in about an hour. It's usually mayhem when they're all here...4 kids age 7 and under...but it's fun.

Jen, I can't believe they are predicting more snow for tomorrow. I'm thinking on taking a personal day. I don't want to be stuck in it driving home. We might get up to 6 inches. Have fun with the kids.

I bought the Woman's World magazine. On the front page it says, The unauthorized WW plan that blasts off stubborn fat other diets can't! * Pssst! You'll never hear about it at "official" meetings. They have the whole concept of the Wendi's Plan. We went all over looking for this magazine. We finally found it in Walmart.

Till tomorrow. I'll most likely take the day off. I'll check the weather when I get up.

Hugs,
Es

Here we go!!! As of today, Monday, February 10, starts the 10 week challenge. I will be 172 by April 21st.

I really need this. I just keep giving in to my sugar cravings which I'm not giving up. I'm just going to make sure I plan for it & not have so many carbs. Once I can do that I know I'll be successful.

BTW I took the day off. The snow is suppose to start around noon & we're suppose to get up to 5 inches.

Be back later.

Love,
Es

Hi guys.
Last week was interesting.
Bradley had the fever on Monday and it lasted until Friday afternoon. So he was out all week.
Britts had surgery on Tues. and got a fever on Thurs. so she was out Tues, Wed., Thur, and Fri.
I got a call at 11:00 A.M. from Brandon and he had a fever so he was out Wed. (1/2 day), Thur and Fri.
I got to sleep in Thurs. and Friday.
Lots of homework but they survived. We vegged out in the Family room and watched Charles in Charge, Fresh Prince, Living Single and Cosby. I tape them every morning for them.
I thought I was coming down with it but it went away. We will see.

Es,
Good luck with the challenge. I got that magazine. I love it. Great article.

Jen,
Tell Joe happy birthday.

Zoe,
Have a great time.

Terri,
What a week you had.....hope everyone is feeling better, and that Mom doesn't get it! Sending good wishes and :balloons: to everyone at your house.

Es,
I'm in for the Challenge  I know this will be a good week...sticking with the journalling, water and exercise. Good luck!
I don't blame you for taking the day off...commuting in the snow is rough. A nice long weekend is a good thing ;)

This morning's weigh-in: stayed the same :snail: was shocked to see that scale remain exactly where it was last week. While it is disappointing to not see a loss, not gaining is what I'm going to focus on.

HI  everyone...Dianne, Zoe (Caribbean Queen), Sandy, Janie, Ruth, LeeAnn, Donna.

Es,
Happy Winter Wonderland. We have actually been having rather cold weather for CA lately. AT night it has been going down to the 20's. No snow on the surrounding Mountains since December.

Jen,
Happy Birthday to Joe :hb:

Terri,
I am sorry everyone in your house was sick last week. I had the same kind of week the one prior. I was so exhausted afterward. DOn't forget to take care of Terri while you are taking care of everyone else.

HI Everyone,
I am so ready for this challenge. I seem to do fine Mon-Fri but loose it on the weekends. I really need some motivation.

Hi Girls:wave:

I love being home. The snow started around an hour ago. It's 2:30. I was out all morning. I bought Pete a few things for his birthday. I was rushing cause I wanted to be home before the snow started.

Terri, the same thing happens at my brother's house. When one gets sick they all catch it. The WW article is great! I'm so proud of Wendi whoever she is. :D Take care of yourself. :grouphug:

Jen, Happy Birthday to Joe. :hb: Pete will be 53 Thursday. He looks great for his age. I'm glad you joined in our challenge. I have to lose weight before the summer. I want to be able to buy a new bathing suit without hating the way I look.

Janie, I would love to be at 157. It's funny cause when I was 157 I wanted to be 145. Now when I look back I didn't look bad at all in the 150's. Oh well<sigh> I just have to work hard at it.

Have a great day everybody:wave:

Ruth, how's the baby?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the birthday wishes for Joe. Today is his birthday, tho we had the celebration yesterday. He's 51 today. He and I are going to Benihana's for dinner this evening.

Es,
Bathing suit shopping is the pits! I've got to buy a couple this year; having the pool makes it a must to have more than one. Even more stress

I was wondering WHERE EVERYONE WAS?!!! I have been checking on the other thread and finally it dawned on me what 'SEE YOU AT 136' meant!

I am starting the challenge. Am I suppose to post my starting weight? If so: It was 152. I will be 142 in ten weeks! :)

You guys thought you got rid of me, huh??? :dizzy: ;)

Jenny523
02-10-2003, 10:40 PM
Donna,
Sorry you didn't know, we begin a new thread when the old one gets to about 6 pages. Any longer than that gets messy and confusing. We number them in order, and are up to #136, obviously!
I joined this thread when it was in the 30's or 40's, I believe. All that time with no losses to speak of :o ....now you can see why I stuck with this group: incredible support !!!

Dinner was nice; we'd never been to Benihana's, had a gift cert. from Joey for our last anniversary. As some of you may know, I don't care for oriental food.....well, change that! I loved it, food was great, stayed within my points :D and found a new favorite restaurant.

see you tomorrow,

Hi Girls:wave:

OMG I made Pete 1 year older. He'll be 52.

Jen, my nephew told us about this great Chinese Buffet. It's a little expensive but worth it. Jen, we both love chinese food. This place is called Yin Yang. They have salmon!!

Awwwww Donna, we forgot to explain how our threads go. How tall are you?

Look at me just hanging out like I don't have to go to work! I better start getting ready.

Be back later.

I'm just glad I found you guys! :D

Jen, was that restaurant that you went to like a Japanese steak house? Where they cook it right in front of you? If so, I love that! Of course there isn't many foods that I don't like. :^: Oh, and a belated :hb: to Joe! I'm sorry I didn't mention it before.

Es, I am 5'4". I went and exercised this morning and it was a good class with the balls too. I really like working with those, I can really feel it working. :barbell:

Now that I understand how you do your threads, I will be able to stay with you all.

Been a little nervous today. My dh had to fly to St. Louis this morning for work and I am concerned with the high alert of terrorism this week. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks!

I think I blew it on my points yesterday and didn't even realize it. First day on the challenge and I blew it. :nono: I had a small portion of spaghetti and a few very small meatballs and I look up in my points and that according to what I saw was 16 points! OH NO! I couldn't believe it!! I was so disappointed because I thought I was doing good, spaghetti cooked in NO OIL, meatless sauce and just a couple of small meatballs. NO BREAD either! I should of known!

I will do better today...

JanieD

Donna,
DOn't feel badly about going over on the 1st day. SO did I. I got home late last night and didn't have time to make dinner for the starving herd, so I opened a couple of cans of chilli. They were happy but I was over. Today is a new day!!!

Jen,
You shouldn't put yourself down. You have been doing very well these last few weeks. Hold your head up girlfriend!!:bravo:

 Everyone,
I have counseling today. I never know how I'm going to come out of there. SOmetimes I feel better, but mostly I feel like hiding away from the world with a pound or two of chocolate. There has been a lot of junk I have repressed and it's all starting to come out:p: It's ok if we sort of peel it like an onion, but sometimes the junk comes out like a torent. I am amazed I am as well adjusted as I am. THe stuff that happened to me causes other people to go postal:yikes:

Got to get to work,
JanieD

Jenny523
02-11-2003, 03:02 PM
Janie,
I'm glad to hear that you're continuing with the counseling in spite of the pain that may accompany it. You know you will be stronger and at peace when it comes to an end. Don't sweat the chili, you'll do well the remainder of the week :D

Donna,
Yes, Benihana's is a Japanese steak house. Very cool w/the chef at the table, I could get used to that :)
Saying a prayer for your husband's safe flight. These are scary times.
The spaghetti & meatball thing is aggravating, isn't it? I've got a recipe for meatballs that I love. It does use red meat, so it's probably not very point-friendly. One of these days I'm going to put it into my recipe program and figure out the exact point value. Who knows how WW determines that many points; our own homemade may come in at much less...at least that's what I'm hoping!

Es,
I know how you love oriental food, hope you like the new place. I don't like fish, so I usually will only eat shrimp. It makes Joe just shake his head; he can't understand it cause he LOVES seafood. Every time we eat out he orders seafood and makes me try a bite. I did like fresh mahi mahi, tho.

Terri,
How are the kids? Even tho they were all so ill, I bet you liked having them home with you. Hope they're feeling better.

Did the 2 mile WATP today; I don't know how to count the activity points for that. I don't want to say it's a brisk walk, probably should count it as moderate. All I know is that I do work up a sweat and am huffing and puffing! So I counted it as 20 minutes of moderate walking, for 2 points. Can't wait for it to become easier. I loved the feeling when I "graduated" from the 1 mile to the 1 mile.

Joe's working late today, it's an excellent opportunity for me to get some points banked by having a Lean Cuisine and salad for dinner :D .....and then soak in the tub!

Hi:wave:

Janie, your therapy is painful but it's better than holding it all in. At least you're getting help. {{{{{ Big Hug}}}}}

Jen, I hate fish! Pete's the one that got all happy when he saw the salmon. He loves seafood. I'm just like you, I only eat shrimp & tuna fish(sometimes). Dave is just like me, won't even try it.

Donna, don't you feel great after exercising? WTG;)

You too Jen.;)

Hi, Dianne, Sandy, Zoe:flow1: Terri & Ruth. Hope I didn't miss anybody.

My hubby made it fine. So, I am relieved! :)

Es, yes it felt great after I exercised today! :strong:

Janie, not knowing your situation I gather from what you said that you are dealing with some demons. I admire you for getting the help you need and it's those other's problems if they can't handle it. You are the stronger one for sure and I hope that the session today and the ones following will be a relief not too painful. Sometimes facing up with some things can really be hard, but sometimes we need to to tell them to leave us alone. Much  to you! :grouphug:

And I have to join the group that loves seafood. I do love seafood. I don't like the fish that smells fishy though. Does that make any sense? :D

Well, my daughter is sick. When I picked her up from school she was complaining of her throat hurting. This evening she could not eat and she's running a temp. She is also acting sooooo sweet. Too bad this only occurs when she is sick. :^:

I have done better with my points today and also had some plus activity points along with that. But, I've learned it's to my advantage not to go below my points and at least stay in the upper range. It's hard to understand that in order to loose you have to EAT! ;)

Jen, I like you LOVE and could get used to that service very quickly at the japanese restaurant. Sounds very good what you had. You made me hungry reading about it! :T

Have a good evening, ladies. Talk to you tomorrow.

 I'm dealing with a stupid decision I made last night....Joe ended up not working late after all, was home early. I still had my lean cuisine and salad, and in spite of the fact that we had some wine, I did not go over my points for the day....until he pulled out the leftover banana cream pie (which is his birthday cake) and I had a piece...resulting in going 7 points into the hole!
I know the wine contributed, lowering my will power/inhibitions. This is disturbing, as I just had the week of no loss, don't want to start a pattern here.

Live and learn. Now I've got to exercise every day for the remainder of the week, instead of every other day.

I WILL have a loss on Monday! There's no way I'm starting off the 10 in 10 Challenge with a gain.

later......

Hi Buddies,

Terri, I hope your family is all well now, do the kids have February vacation coming up?

Es, I am another seafood lover, as long as it is fresh, I would be there for the salmon.

Janie, I am in your corner for the counselling, I went a few years ago after feeling really bruised by lots of life events. I believe that good work done with a therapist really has a lasting effect and that it deepens your inner resources even after your sessions are completed.

Jen, I am so glad that you are on track with your motivation, I am still struggling, and seeing everyone so determined here is helping me to get back to the program.

Hi Donna,
My name is Sandy, I just turned 50 in December, I have been married to a great guy, Mike for 26 years, and I have 2 sons, Dave(21) and Greg (almost 16). I have lots to lose about 60 lbs, but I am ever hopeful that I will do it here.

I am trying to get back on track little by little, it is amazing how easy it is over time for the long term bad habits to invade. I know that persistance is what matters most, not following the program perfectly. (but of course that wouldn't hurt):halffull:
I am starting out by choosing a good breakfast, high fiber cereal with skim milk, instead of a bagel and cream cheese. For supper I am making interesting new recipes from Cooking Light, but being careful now with portion size, no seconds. I still have to get back on track with my lunch choices, and appropriate snacks. I would love to hear details of how all of you are making your choices. It seems as if Lean Cuisine may be the fallback for easy point control.

Determined to join the challenge,:grouphug:

Great attitude Jen. A amaintain is way better than gaining. 7 points in the hole is better than 20 in the hole. As long as you stop right away it will all be fine. That is the way to work this program. I love those Japanese Steakhouses. They are so much fun. Glad Joe had a great birthday.

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes. I DID ENJOY the kids being home. I missed it when they went back. We just chilled in the afternoons. I had a headache that last 26 hours and a slight fever and since the headache went away I think I am getting over whatever I had. I hope.

Donna,
I am so glad your dh is ok. I saw where they closed some exits to the St. Louis airport today. This is so scary. I am so glad my husband didn't have to go. He was in Washington DC just recently.
I hope your little girl feels better.
I hate when I am shocked at points after I ate them. I have been there. As long as you stop right away you are doing great!!!!

Es,
Tell Pete HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :hb:
I bought a Leslie Sansone DVD. I will try it tomorrow. I am still a little weak today. Have you ever done one of her tapes?

Janie,
I am so glad you are getting help. Noone should go through life with weight on their shoulders. Everyone deserves to be happy.

I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Sandy. We must have posted at the same time. great to hear from you again.
Good luck. I have decided to cut out a lot of junk carbs during the week and get a few fives in on the weekend. Not a lot but just to satisfy me. For lunches I have half sandwiches or soup and 1/2 cup cottage cheese with splenda and then microwaved. I didn't know if I would like that but it is so good. Boca burgers are also a favorite. I do open faced. For my salads I use good seasons italian. I measure the dressing cause to me it is worth it not to use lowfat dressings. I just love the Good seasons Italian. It has always been my favorite.
I have been using Lean Cuisines more now too. It seems so easy to control.
Glad you are back. :D

So very nice to meet you, Sandy! It's so nice to have this isn't it? A wonderful circle of new friends from all over the U.S. that we could of not ever known if it wasn't for this! I feel so honored in meeting each of you. :) :flow2: Together we will do this!

Terri, I sure hope you feel better. ;) I get migraines often and so I can empathize with you on those headaches! :headache: I am glad your children are better. :dancer:

Jen, PLEASE don't be so hard on yourself! Because you are aware of what it COULD lead to you will not fall into that pattern you were speaking of! We all slip up and thankfully when we are given another day we can make it up. We have ten weeks of this so don't beat yourself up for ONE day of the whole duration! :drill: Ok, enough of my :soap: box! You know what I'm trying to say, right??

Elena was sick most of the night last night. This morning she had a temp of 100 and she is home from school needless to say. I have loads of towels and stuff to wash from last night and I don't think I'll be making it to my Pilates class today! :?: Oh well. I felt so bad for my Elena. I know she is miserable.

I was tempted to step on the scales today but will wait till Monday. :o

Es, Dianne, Sandy, Zoe, Ruth, Terri, Janie and Jen please have a great losing day!

Talk to you all later.

HI Donna,
My reason for counselling is that I was severely emotionally and somewhat physically abused growing up. The emotional abuse still continues from my mom. She is a very controlling person. This has consequently sabotaged me in other relationships and in my career. I am trying to fix a very broken little girl inside. I must be getting better, 6 months ago I wouldn't have even been able to say that. There was so much guilt and denial. Thank you all for your loving support.

Jen,
I know your upset with yourself for those 7 points. The thing with this program is that if you fall off the wagon today you can climb right back on tomorrow. DOn't let 1 or 2 days/or weeks even, discourage you. Remember this is for life, for your life and health. Joe wants you to be healthy and live a long happy life together:love:

Terri,
Sorry you're not feeling well. Get better soon!!!

Sandy,
For breakfast I have either cereal with non fat milk or an english muffin (2pts) with spreadable fruit (1pt). I have Lean Cousine or WW Smart Ones and a piece of fruit for lunch almost everyday. Dinner is where I eat most of my points. I try to leave 3 or 4 points for an evening snack. One thing I like is Krusteaz Fat free brownies (mix). They are 2 pts and with 1/2 glass of FF milk I still feel like I'm getting a real treat.

Es,
Happy Birthday to Pete :hb: I hope you have great low point celebration:

RUth,
WHere are you girlfriend:?: Hope everything is alright!

Have a great Wed,

Hi Buddies:wave:

I'm on my lunch hour so this will be short.

Hi Sandy, glad to hear from you. ;) I always struggle with staying OP but I make it up with exercise. I've been doing well with this challenge. Usually during the week I have a turkey breast sandwich with FF cheese & mayo with fruit for lunch. Breakfast is always protein to hold me for a few hours. I have egg whites with Libby's chicken sausage & 1/2 cup of OJ. Morning snack is an energy bar with coffee & dinner is Lean Cuisine or McDonald's mcshaker chicken salad then another snack in the evening. I always use up all my points. I don't use my AP points, only if I have to.

Donna, I must confess I weigh myself at 3 times a week. I know, I know, I promised I wouldn't but I can't help myself sometimes:o

Terri, thanks for the birthday wishes. We're going to cut a cake on Saturday with my niece. Her birthday is the same day as Pete, 2/13. We're having a small family get together at my brother's house.

Geeesshh, everybody around here is coughing!!! Pete came down with another cold!! I've been doing really well. I only caught the stomach virus.

Well my friends, I'll be back later.

Jen, later okay?

Love you all,
Es

Hi everyone,
thanks for the support :D I'm not beating myself up, just putting it out there and trying to learn from it.

Sandy,
I love Cooking Light, but have found that lots of their recipes are higher in points than I would have thought. I go thru each new issue w/my pointsfinder and calculate the points for the dishes that sound good. I cut those recipes out and have a folder bulging with new dishes to try
For lunches I stick w/Lean Cuisines mainly, or low point soups such as tomato, black bean, or the Progresso FF ones, and a piece of fruit.
I have fruit, ff yogurt, a 2 point bar or microwave popcorn for a snack. Then I can have the rest of my points for dinner.
Some days I snack more than others, and have found it's when I don't get enough water.
You sound as tho you're on the right track. Good luck in the Challenge!

Es,
Happy Birthday to Pete! :hat: Awww, hope he feels better and isn't ill for his bday.
I like having protein for breakfast on the weekends, as we tend to not have lunch on those days...it holds me till dinner. (p.s....stay off that scale! just kidding)

Janie,
I haven't tried the Krusteaz brownies, will have to check them out. That'd be the perfect dessert for in the evening..then I wouldn't be grabbing something loaded w/ points!

Donna,
Sorry Elena is ill, sending goodvibes her way :goodvibes: Don't worry too much about missing one class, you'll do alot of running around taking care of her!

Terri,
Which Leslie Sansone tape did you buy? A WATP? Having a headache for that long is awful...take care of yourself :flow1:
I love Good Seasons Italian also...how many points? I haven't had it since going back OP. I'm using a WW oil & vinegar dressing that I love, 1 T for 1 point, plus it's easy to make.

I've just gotta say how wonderful it is to come in here and see all the posts full of support, cheer and confidence! We are going to do it! :grouphug:

Hi Girls:wave:

Talking about dressings, I buy one from Wish Bone that is very good. Only 2 grams of fat. There's another one by Walden Farms, no carbs, sugar free & fat free & it's really good!!! I buy Thousand Islands.

Jen, no biggie about the points. It happens. New day that's what I always say. I stocked up on Lean Cuisines. They were on sale this week. The slimfast bars are really good. They're only 3 pts.

Donna, I hope Elena will feel better soon. Poor baby. :( So many people are sick. Tomorrow & Friday it's suppose to be very cold.

Terri, I hope you're feeling better.:grouphug:

Terri,
Oh Yeah! Survivor Night! LOL I know I'm sad....I actually plan dinner so that we're sitting down to eat right when the program starts. (We tend to eat later on Thursdays  ) Did you see the host, Jeff P. on The View? One of the women is deaf, but didn't want the men to know; should be verrry interesting.

OMG the 3 Mile Walk? I'm still trying to get thru the 2 Mile without puffing. It is working, however....I have noticed that I'm feeling much stronger and less bloated. My double chin is going away and jeans are fitting looser. :D Can't wait till they're too big; also have to be patient...I have to remember I didn't put the weight on overnight, it's crept on slowly.

Hi  to all...Dianne, how's it going? Ruth, how are your classes going?

Jen, I am doing the challenge as well. I will weigh in on Monday also. Congratulations on loose fitting jeans and saying good bye to that double chin! It's a wonderful feeling to FINALLY feel that way. I did real well last night and refused the cheese cake and stayed within my point range! :cb: :dancer: I do not watch Survivor I don't know why it just never appealed to me like it has many other viewers.
Elena is back in school today. She still has some congestion but her temp is at normal now and she could only complain of being sleepy this morning!
I am busy this morning blessing my house. I want it to be nice when my dh comes home tonight. ;) I hope his flight is non-eventful. If you know what I mean.
Es, just wondered why you had asked how much I weighed before. :?:
Good day to everyone! I will check in later.

HI gals,
I am doing the challenge but I think I am going to keep my WI day on Thur. I tend to not do as well OP on the weekends so I would rather not WI on Monday. I hope that is ok with everyone. BTW I lost 1/2 lb, not a great start for doing 10 in 10 but it's better than a gain!!!

I have a question for those of you who have been here longer than myself. WHen they say no advertising, what exactly do they mean. I felt uneasy yesterday when I was talking about the Kruteaz brownie mix. WHere do they draw the line between endorsing a product you like and advertising? (I know Jen I'm being analytical again :twirly: )

I have counseling again tonight. WIsh me luck,

Donna,
I'm sorry I didn't include you in the Challenge :( it was an unintended omission! Way to go on passing up the cheesecake. Glad Elena's feeling better.

Janie,
congrats on the loss! Don't worry about the advertising thing...I have seen posts in which someone goes on and on about a new product they've found, and included a link...it then becomes apparent that they're posting on boards as a way of free advertising. That's definitely NOT what you did!

Jen, I didn't take it personally. I just figured you were like me and having a hard time keeping up with everyone! :)

Janie, I agree with Jen. I think if you were selling something like a vitamins or even a diet plan and you purposely put a link to that site then that is advertsing and that kind of thing is not allowed. Too many people take advantage of free advertising. That is why there are those pop ups to help pay for this site. And if people advertise on the threads then that's actually in a way taking money away from the advertisers who pay to be there. Does that make any sense? Hope your session is good today!

Hi:wave:

Today was the longest day of my life. (exaggerating) I have a clock by my computer at work which I realized today is a BIG mistake. Anyway, thank God it's Thursday. Pete is off today & tomorrow then he has weekends off.

Donna, I didn't ask how much you weighed. :?: I asked you your height only because we have the same goal weight. I think asking someone their weight could be offensive so I never ask. The other day Pete was weighing himself & he asked me to hop on:yikes: He knows what I'm going to say. I think he tests me. Probably hoping someday I'll give in. NEVER!!! Good to hear Elena is feeling better.

I never watched survivor either. During the week I watch my soaps then weekends we usually rent. Is anyone a member of Columbia House?

Janie, congrats on 1/2 lb.:dancer: I hope your session goes well.

Terri, you're doing the tapes also? Still doing Bowflex?
My brother has the Bowflex in his gym.

Jen, I can't wait till my double chin disappears.
I'm going to try to be good Saturday. Cake & ice cream:T

My weigh-in day will be Mondays.

Well, let me go spend some time with the birthday boy.:hb:

Love you's,

Hi all!
Jen,
Did you see Survivor? I wanted those girls to win so bad. That was great! The guys were a tad cocky!!!!!!!!!
Congrats on the jeans. That is wonderful.
Keep it up.

Donna,
Glad Elena is doing better.

Janie,
Congrats on the LOSS!!!!!
I would never weigh on Mondays either. On the weekends I would stay OP but I would eat more salty things that can register temporary water weight. Weighing before the weekend gave me a little freedom to eat chips or Chinese or something that I would never eat 2 days before weigh-in. It would all be OP but that temp. water weight can be a de-motivator.

Es,
Yes I do the Bowflex. I want my arms to look good.
Hope you can relax this weekend. Tell Pete HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
I don't belong to Columbia House anymore. The last time was when I got the big ALBUMS.
I bought My Big Fat Greek Wedding and we are watching it tonight. Can't wait.

For Valentines Day Bruce got me a Hotel Room for 2 nights. I want to take Britts the first night ( We have fun kind of like a slumber party) and then Bruce will pick her up and take her home Sunday and come back in a bout 3 hours with a romantic dinner. He will stay a couple hours and then I get the rest of the night and the next morning by myself. I love when he does this.
He also got the family a gift for Valentines Day but he won't tell me what it is yet.
Have a great Valentines Day!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

We've rented movies for this evening, My Big Fat Greek Wedding is one of them. I've been wanting to see it. So we'll have a nice evening of cuddling and vegging.

Terri,
that's so neat how Bruce does the hotel gift for you. Enjoy! Go Chicks! (on Survivor :D )

They've been predicting a snowfall of up to 6 inches tonight for a day or two, but have now downgraded it to only 3 :( too bad for all the kids. The sleds, etc. are all marked down in the stores...no snow!

I purchased all new handles for my kitchen cabinets; this weekend I'll wash them all down, polish them and replace the handles. A nice facelift, and a good workout for me

How was everybody's Valentine's Day? Pete bought me this beautiful card. I get all emotional with cards. Pete & David laugh at me. He also bought me 2 christian cd's. Dave got me flowers. I love those guys.

It seems like David fixed the problem with my computer. Thank God I have a computer technician.

Donna, you don't have to be sorry.;) It's hard to keep up with all the posts.

Terri, what a nice gift. Bruce sounds like a great husband & father.

Jen, how did you like the movie? We saw it in the movies. The part about the bundt cake made me laugh so hard.

Today I'll be very busy so I won't be back till tomorrow.

I want to wish everybody a nice weekend. Oh Jen, BTW no snow! We didn't get anything! How about you?

Till tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

Es,
thought Greek Wedding was funny; watched Sweet Home Alabama, that was just okay. Joe stayed up to watch Bloodwork w/Clint Eastwood, but I fell asleep. He said that was good. If I have time today, I'll watch it. I cry over cards, everyone thinks I'm nuts.

Hope everyones' Valentines Day was nice.

Hi Buddies,

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day celebration.

We don't really go all out here, Mike is a consistently loving guy, not full of surprises, and it is always a dozen roses and a card. I had to work in Boston a lot this week plus I had several evening meetings at church during the course of the week. I stopped to buy a bottle of champagne on the way home last night for my V-day gesture. Unfortunately the traffic was unbelievable. I didn't get home until 7:30 and after dinner, I plopped down on the couch and fell asleep. The champagne will have to wait for another time. Luckily it keeps!

I really enjoyed My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It was great fun, I saw it at the theatre in the summer. Is Sweet Home Alabama worth renting, or should I just wait for cable to show it?

Jen, I think I will have my weigh in day be Thursdays. I started at 199.5
I worked my way into the program over the course of the week and finally got a handle on lunches as of Thursday with cottage cheese and fruit. Yesterday in town I had a grilled chicken wrap. Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. It reminded me of how livable the program is. I do know how to do this, but with all of the stress this past year with my parent's health situations, and losing my Dad in November, I drifted away big time.
We should have a really great challenge, it looks like we are really on board.

Hope everyone has a great weekend,
:grouphug::love:

Hi All. Getting ready to leave. I am taking Britts to see Chicago before we go to the hotel. I want to see all the Oscar nominated movies so I can enjoy the Oscars better. LOL I heard Chicago
was good.
I liked the "Nice Boobs" on Big Fat Greek...

Es,
What great guys. You deserve it.

Sandy,
I really liked Sweet Home Alabama. I think with me living here now I really appreciated it. I think it is worth it.
Big Fat Greek Wedding is my favorite though. John Corbett grew up 2 miles from me. To bad I didn't know him then. His grandma still lives there in Wheeling W.Va. and he always mentions Wheeling when he is on a talk show and it says it in his bio on the DVD. I remember him on Northern Exposure. So cute.
You will get there. It must have been so hard on you. I am so sorry. We are here for you.

Jen,
Enjoy those handles. Bet it will look great!

Hi:wave:

Terri, I also heard Chicago was very good. I haven't been to the movies in a while. We rent movies every weekend. Columbia House has that special where you get 5 Dvd's for 49 cents each then you have to buy 3 more at regular price in the next 2 years. Not bad. I just joined. Enjoy your R & R.

Jen, Pete rented Sweet Home Alabama for me. I haven't watched it yet. I saw Bloodwork. I think it's good. I'm a Clint Eastwood fan.
How do the handles look? It makes us feel good when we get something new right?

Sandy, you've been thru so much. It's hard to stay focused on WW. There's a women at my job that lost 40 lbs. on LA Weightloss. Her brother died a couple of months ago & she told me she had to put the program on hold till she got herself together mentally. She's doing much better now. You know you have friends that care about you. ;)

Well, I had cake & ice cream yesterday. Yesterday is behind me. Today is a new day. I must say the cake was delicious.:T

Dianne, are you MIA again?! Stop in & say hi amiga.

Ruth, how's the baby?

I'll be back later.

Hi everyone

Es,
You're right, today's a fresh day. We have to do the birthdays and all that, and move one.
This morning in the news they said NY is in for 12 to 20 inches of snow today! I'll be thinking of you; maybe another "snow day" is in store for you for tomorrow?
Usually we rent movies about once or twice a month during the winter, rarely in the summer. I'm about movied out this weekend! Began watching Signs with Mel Gibson  but don't care for sci-fi, so I read instead. Joe said it was good.

Joey invited himself for a home-cooked dinner today, asked me if I'd make Satay Beef w/Pasta, which is a favorite of his. I haven't made it in a while, went in my computer program to figure out the points today...11 points! I'll be having yogurt and fruit for lunch

The Music Man is on abc tonight....I love that old musical...can't wait to see it with Matthew Broderick. I know I'll drive Joe nuts when I sing along to the whole thing!

enjoy your Sunday...

Jen, I was off tomorrow anyway becuase of the holiday. David is off too. Pete may have to call in. His job never ever closes. My sister called me before & she heard on the weather channel 2 feet!:yikes: I'm not into sci-fi movies either but I did see Signs cause my nephew said it was very good. It was good but not to go see in the movies. It must be so nice having Joey over for dinner. I called David before to tell him he should go food shopping cause he won't be able to leave the house tomorrow. He's always eating out. Enjoy the Music Man tonight. ;)

I can't remember when I saw this much snow.

Power stayed on all night!!! Elena's school is supposed to be on a two hour delay but my Jim went out and turned around and came right back home. He said it was way too slick out there and there are accidents everywhere. Now, he was born and raised in New Jersey so he is no country bumpkin so if he says it is too slick, it sure is! I will probably have to keep this wild child home! :hyper:

Ok, I am bummed out.... I stepped on the scale and it says I gained 1 1/2 pounds!!! How can this be??? I only went out of my point range twice this week and it wasn't by much... I even exercised. I did great over the weekend except for Friday. :stress:

Es, glad you are enjoying the snow! Thanks for the animation link! I will be sure and try it out. Sorry about your back. I have a pinched nerve in my neck/shoulder area that gives me a fit every now and then and unfortunately cold weather brings on the pains!

Everyone, have a safe, happy Presidents day! My daughter's school would of normally been off today but because of the fire and the other snow days they have a lot to make up.

Donna,
Hang in there, I'm sure the scale will move next week. Don't let one bad week get to you, we've all had many of those. Sounds like it's a good day to stay home for all of you. Icey roads are so dangerous.

I had a 2 lb. loss at this morning's weigh-in :D After the maintain last week, it was nice to see. I'm glad I stuck with it and didn't get bummed due to no loss. That's a first for me.

will be back later, laundry awaits :(

I had a great and relaxing time. I ate more than I wanted. I will do damage control starting today.

Donna,
Don't step on that scale to much. The readings can fluctuate daily by 2 pounds and they aren't true weights. The scale can be so upsetting. You will get that off. :dizzy:

We couldn't see Chicago cause it was sold out so we went to see Shanghai Knights. It was hysterical. I liked it better than the first one. They say a lot of things where you know the outcome cause it is at the turn of the century. We will see Chicago next weekend.

Terri, glad you're back. ;) If you ate more than usual I know you'll get right back on track. You always do. :) The only bad thing about me being home is the snacking. I am trying not to go overboard. I'm going to try to exercise a little today. No weights.

Donna, my back still hurts but very little. I'm going to walk on my treadmill for at least 20 minutes. I have to so I can have some light ice cream later. :T

I would imagine that by now the novelty of the blizzard would be wearing off for everyone. You really ended up with a long weekend! It is difficult to stop from munching when at home all day; all I force myself to do is stay out of the kitchen. Hope your back is better each day.

Terri,
Glad you had a good weekend. Es is right, you'll get that damage control over with right away. :D

I've got terrible munchies today, want to eat everything in sight. I'm going to have some tuna for lunch, the protein should help.

Hi Buddies:wave:

We have lots of snow! They were predicting we would get 18 to 30 inches. Boston got 27.5 inches, which is as much as the infamous blizzard of 1978. We already had a lot on the ground and with how cold it has been all winter it never melted. The snowbanks are just enormous.

On Monday before it started, Mike and I went grocery shopping. I stocked up on lots of healthy stuff. The supermarket was just jammed, people were buying as if they would be home for a month. We got home just as the snow started falling. All four of us just got cozy and watched movies together.

I have to admit I was proud of myself. I made a big platter of raw veggies, carrots, peppers, cauliflower, and celery that we munched on with a light dip. When Mike saw it, he thought I had gotten carried away, but we ate almost every bite. I am starting to feel a lot more confident about being on program again. It seems like a matter of choices. Frankly, at times I did not want to make the best choices, and now I am heading there. I am hoping for a loss this week.

Congrats to Jen and Es on your losses this week, and Donna, don't worry, water weight causes huge fluctuations for me sometimes.

Sandy,
Having that big assortment of veggies sounds perfect. Good job! I agree whole-heartedly with you...it's all a matter of choices. It's not easy to change a habit. Every "right" choice we make, makes us stronger. At least the snowstorm came in February; spring is right around the corner!

I tried a broccoli-cheese recipe from the Cooking Light website, it was great...3 points for a 1 & 1/3 cup serving! Their recipe used 2% milk; I used skim and computed the points on the WW recipe builder. Having that along with the Natural Ovens 1 point rolls made for a great low point dinner. Thank goodness we've never been big meat eaters....Joe was happy with soup for dinner, and he really liked it also. I know the 0 point WW veggie soup is a standby, but I get tired of that. I love homemade soup and don't mind using some points for it.

see you later,

Jen, the recipe sounds great! I am think that's a good thing to do because you have better control on what you can or can not have or what your family can have. Like my dh has to limit his intake of vitamin K because he is on a blood thinner due to a mechanical valve he had to put in his heart last May. It's amazing what foods has that in it. It will counter react with the blood thinner and we don't need that! Unfortunately the foods I need the most, he can't have a lot of like dark green leafy veg.

Congratulations to Sandy for the veggies!!! ;) I am so proud of what you are doing and admire your self control!

Terri, unfortunately I didn't heed your words to not step on the scale too much and did yesterday morning. It showed me less the pound and a half from the previous day. :dizzy: I will listen next time! :dz: Glad you had such a great time last weekend!

Es, how is your back today? I sure hope better! Nothing worse than back problems. Don't over-do it, ok?!

Last night I hosted a Pampered Chef party. It was a lot of fun but I ate the wrong things. Then this weekend we are going to Wild Dunes in Charleston, S.C. for a couples retreat. So.... what am I going to do?? I guess this is going to test my self control isn't it?!

Ruth, how is the baby?

Dianne, what's going on? Are you ok?

When does Zoe return? I was thinking for some reason she was only going to be gone a week. I have been praying for her mother as well. Am I getting my weeks mixed up? Or was her surgery to be today? I'm sooooo confused. I have that sometimers disease. Sometimes I remember, sometimes I don't. :)

Hi:wave:

You know the saying when it rains it pours well that seems to very true for me these days. First my back went out on me then I caught "another" stomach virus, this morning I dropped a BIG BOTTLE of shampoo on my toe!!!!!! Pete said it looked like I might need a stitch or 2. I had to stay home again. Thank God that my job is flexible. The only good thing that came out of this is that I have no appetite. Unbelievable.

Janie, my back is better but now I have a swollen toe!! We stilll have a lot of snow. Pete said the roads are all cleaned up. How would I know I haven't been out in 4 days!!! I am going to work tomorrow. I have cabin fever. Thanks for asking about my back. ;) I'm just venting.

Donna, what is a Pampered Chef Party? The retreat sounds like fun. Zoe should be back by now. I forgot when her mom was getting surgery:( I've been so out of it the last couple of days.

Jen, way to go on making such healthy choices. You use cooking light a lot. I should try some recipes from there. The soup sounds delicious. I love broccoli.:T

Donna,
The couples retreat will be a nice getaway. As Dianne says....life has a way of getting in the way sometimes; just do your best and you'll be fine. I haven't been to a Pampered Chef party in a while. I use their miracle measuring cup alot! Now I'm looking for measuring spoons that eject their contents like that does. It would be a miracle  to find one.

Janie,
Have fun on your girls' night; a night at the library is a treat, as far as I'm concerned :D

Now there are some people I'm concerned about...Dianne? hope you're well. Ruth? daughter and baby ok? school ok? Zoe, are you home? and did Mom have her surgery?Did we lose LeeAnn?

Hi:wave:

I'm home again. I called my boss & told her to give me 2 sick days for this week. I woke up not feeling any better than yesterday. Yesterday evening one of my neighbors stopped by to see if I was okay. She noticed my car was parked in the same spot that past few days. When I told her about my stomach virus she said 6 other people in the complex have the same thing.
I just had a cup of coffee & so far so good. My toe is much better.

Donna, enjoy your next few days.;)

Es,
I am so sorry about your toe, and your flu. I hope you get better soon.:grouphug:

Donna,
THat retreat sounds wonderful. I can't get my husband into church so a retreat would never happen.

Everyone,
I WI and lost 1 lb. so I am at 1.5 for the challenge and 4.5 for 2003. Not as fast as I would like but I'll take it, but it never is ;)

Jen,
Yesterday I was working from home when I got a phone call from Ellen's school. SHe had gotten tackled on the playground and the rest of the day was spent at Dr's offices and urgent care at the hospital:stress: It turns out that she dislocated her wrist. It wasn't exactly the way I wanted to spend girls night but I'm glad that my job is reasonably flexible. Obviously we never quite made it to the library.

Zoe,
Hope you had a great vacation. Please come back and tell us about it!!!

Got to get to work,

Janie,
Weigh to go on your loss! This challenge is working :D I'm so sorry to hear about Ellen's wrist! Is she okay? That must have been painful, poor thing. :balloons:

Es,
You have been on my mind, I sincerely hope you're doing okay. Too much all at once. Glad your toe is feeling better. No wonder you've been battling that stomach virus, everything is so contagious now. Please take good care of yourself. :grouphug:

It's beautiful here today, the temp. is 48 :D Joe promised me he'd walk with me today, his dr. told him to lose a few pounds, as his blood pressure has gone up. When I asked him what he weighed at the dr's. on Monday, he said he didn't know...didn't pay attention. wish I had that problem! He could stand to lose 15 or so, and told me he'll follow WW with me. I haven't been cooking differently for him for dinners, but he does eat lunches out quite a bit. That's where he'll have to make changes.

Jen, I have watched so much TV. Whatever this is I hope it's gone by the weekend. I'm still nauseas(sp?). We had some pretty nice weather considering all the snow that's on the ground. Tomorrow is suppose to go up to 48.

I think there maybe something wrong with my cat. She's pretty old. I would say she's at least 17 yrs. old. I know about hairballs but she's been throwing up at least 3 times a week. She drinks lots of water & she's eating but she's starting to look thin because of the vomiting. I just bought some Hairball Treats but to get her to eat it is another story. I tried breaking them up & putting it in her food but she knows. These animals are too smart. If it continues I'll have to take her to the Vet.

Janie, is Ellen okay? Is she in a lot of pain? Poor baby. Who tackled her? Give her a hug for me. WTG with your loss.(high five)
I hope you don't mind all the questions is just that I feel bad for her. :(

Terri, how's Brittany & the rest of the family?

I could tell I'm getting better but no appetite yet. I've been drinking water & a slimfast for breakfast & late afternoon.

Have a nice evening my friends.

Hugs,

Hi all:wave:

I weighed in this morning and was down 1.5 lb. I am on my way!

Janie, I hope Ellen isn't too uncomfortable, a dislocated wrist sounds very painful. I hope she recovers quickly.
Congrats on your loss this week, we are heading in the right direction.

Es, feel better soon, you haven't had a great week with the toe injury and the flu. Take care of yourself and your kitty too.

Donna, relax and make the most of the retreat, focus on the activities, and let the food be secondary to the events.

Jen, hope you got your walk in, today was walkable here too. The weather was in the 40's and tomorrow it may go up to 48 also.

Hi Terri, Zoe, Ruth, Leann, and Dianne we are all thinking of you, check in when you can.

Sandy,
Thanks for the congrats and :high: to you too!

Everyone,
I can't specifically remember who asked about Ellen so I'll just tell you all. SHe was tackled by 2 of her girlfriends playing tag. I guess she was standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. She is doing much better. SHe did go to school yesterday but I kept her out of PE. WHen I picked her up at day care she had just been kicked in the kneecap (accidently) by one of the boys. He came around a corner and didn't see her. When I dropped her off this morning I asked her to please not to get hurt today. It hasn't been a very good week. She is funny, she has no trouble working on a latch hook rug project with her wrist but she says she can't tie her shoe laces. I think she's enjoying being helpless :s:
We are supposed to be having a beautiful weekend... in the 70s. I hope I can get outside some to enjoy it.

Have a great weekend everyone,
JanieD

Jenny523

Janie,
Ellen sounds like she likes the attention  too funny about being helpless. Typical kid, right? Hope she has no more mishaps....at least till her wrist is better! I've heard dislocations can hurt more than fractures.

After the nightclub tragedy here in Chicago last weekend, my heart sank this morning when I heard that 40 people had been killed in RI last night. Now the death toll is rising. It's so very sad.

After a bout with a bag of Snickers' popables (something new that Joe brought home, don't ask me why??!!) last night  I awoke this morning ready to beat myself up.....and instead got right back OP. I do have negative points in the bank, now, so I'll be trying hard the remainder of the week to stay at my low end of points.

have a great Friday evening, everyone!

Janie,
It seems like a good idea to coddle Ellen a little bit right now. A few months ago I was having a lot of trouble with my left wrist which seemed to have come from all my gardening last year. It was really strange what hurt and what didn't. Just the slightest twist in a certain direction would make me gasp with pain. Some of the hardest things for me to do were to floss my teeth or tie my shoes, while carrying things with my wrist held straight was fine. Particular motions might be really sensitive for her for a while.

Jen,
I am in negative territory pointswise too. I went a little overboard last night with garlic bread and wine with dinner. I had exercised at the club with Greg in the afternoon, but still I know I didn't have all the points. I will have a good day today though as I am planning ahead with a light clam chowder for lunch and turkey breast for dinner.

Hi Es, Terri, Dianne, Ruth, Donna, Leann and Zoe hope you are all well and enjoying the weekend.

Ok.....you's guys DID write books!! I think I've gotten caught up on most, I hope.

First, my cruise was wonderful. I walked and walked and walked which for me, as many of you know is a miracle since I hate exercise. Oh, but I also ate and ate and ate. But the good news (and this was WONDERFUL news for me) is that when I went back to weight watcher's this morning, I only gained ONE pound!! Woo Hoo! I'm so excited. Next week it will be gone and then some. To those of you who have lost over the last 2 weeks that I've been gone, :bravo: to you all! For those maintaining, that's great too ~ and for those who didn't do so great, just keep your eyes ahead and let's get into the Challenge!! :D

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my mom. She had her surgery a week ago Wednesday (10 days ago) and is doing great. She was home in only 3 days!! This was some major surgery and she was up and moving around. They took the top lobe of 1 lung and except for the usual pain from being cut, she's feeling great. When I talk to her on the phone, she doesn't sound like someone who just had major surgery. Thank you all again for your prayers.

Jen ~ When you wrote that I was probably in the tropical sunshine and that you had 3 degrees, I laughed because on that particular day, we were just starting out and it was chilly....but we did eventually get to that sub-tropic weather. Central America is hot but I thought it would be humid.....it wasn't. When I saw all the snow you got, it brought back memories of when I lived in NY and NJ. We went to Benihana's in Vegas and it was really neat.

Es ~ I'm going to look for that Women's World. Any boost I can get is always welcome. I understand what you mean when you spoke about weights. When I'm 200 lbs, I want to kill for 160, when I'm 160, I would die for 150......I'm never happy.

Terri ~ I hope that your family is well now and all those "ills" are gone. You sure had your hands full. How is Britts after her surgery?

Donna ~ Yes, I was only gone for a week, 8 days really but getting back to work was a nightmare but, I'm here now and glad to be back with all my friends. :) Glad you found the new thread too.

Janie ~ My thoughts are with you and your counseling. Chin up girl. :flow1:

Sandy ~ I love Cooking Light too but I usually change some things in the recipes for lower points. It's a great recipe "starter" for me.

Dianne ~ Hello my friend....where you at? Hope all is well and that you're not snowed in now. Come say hi.

Well, I sure hope that I didn't miss anyone. If I did, I am truly sorry. It feels great to be back here among my wonderful friends and even though I am up a pound, I feel great and back on track.

Hope y'all are having a great Saturday. I am going to get started with housework. YUK!

Talk to you's all later.

Zoe, we really missed you! I'm so happy for you that you only gained a tiny bit. That's unbelievable. Almost everyone I know who has been on a cruise has gained 7 or more. WTG!! I've been out of work for a week & I'm sure come Monday it'll be a nightmare. I've had cabin fever so I'll be glad to be back. I bet your co-workers missed you too. Woohoo for Mom. She's tough!

Hi Sandy;) So you had bread & wine & it was good right? At least you worked out & are planning ahead! You'll be fine.

Jen, so many tragedies going on in the world. I hate listening to the news or reading the newspaper. So sad all those people were killed.

Janie, I had asked you about Ellen & how did it happen. When you said tackled, New Yorkers think the worse. Even the young ones here get beat up. Thank God it was playing around.
How's her knee?

I got blood work done this morning. By next week I'll find out if my cholesterol is lower. If it isn't my Dr. will probably increase my meds. I just bought a Soy Protein drink that's suppose to help with high cholesterol. A colleage of mine starting drinking soy everyday & she says it curbs her appetite. You know she got my attention. It didn't even cost that much. I bought a 2 lb. can, vanilla.

It's pouring today. We went out & rented a couple of movies. My stomach still doesn't feel right. I've never had a stomach flu for so long.

Hello to the rest of the group:wave:

Enjoy your day.

Es

Hello my buds:

What can I say? Its been a really rough 2 weeks or so. Still trying to get used to the fact that 32 of my colleagues are gone. One of my friends was with the university for 24 years and is on the way out. Very sad! My boss is leaving in July so there will be no more "Provost's Office". Everyone, including the President of the University, has told me not to worry, I will definitely have a job. Just not sure with whom:( Then Howard Beach, NY got 28 inches of snow!!! And me, like an idiot, went to work the next day because the university did not close, believe it or not. So, first thing that happens, no trains running and I have to take a bus to get to another train station - I fell on my butt and had shoulder and leg pains for 3 days. Then Willie gets an upper respiratory infection and now I'm sick! Other than that, everything's hunky dory:lol:

Okay, enough with the pity party -life goes on! I'm sorry I can't reply to all those posts! Holy Moly! But I do want to say Happy Belated Birthday to Joe and Pete - hope they had good ones. Congrats to Ruth on her new grandchild, but I can't find the post that says whether its a boy or girl, so ruth, details please:lol:

Es - I'm sorry to hear about your toe and your tummy problems - hope you're feeling better now. Oh, and if you ever see me on-line, please say hi amiga.

Zoe - Welcome back - sounds like you had a great time. Congrats on that small gain - I think I gained 5 lbs. when I was on the cruise. So glad you're back girl.

Jen - You seem to be doing so well OP - I guess you finally heard that "click".:) I'm happy for you.

Hey Terri - how is Britts?

Hi Donna and LeeAnn, how are you guys doing?

Janie - Sorry about Ellen's wrist - OUCH! I hope it gets better soon.

Hi Sandy - how's everything?

Well, I know I probably missed someone and if I did, please forgive me - I've got to get back in the swing of things.

Have a great weekend everyone - will talk to you's soon.

Hugs,
Dianne

Dianne, :grouphug: I can not believe you went out in the snow storm! Suffolk County offices, schools, etc. were all closed. So sorry about your colleagues. :( With all this rain we're getting you still have to be careful with the ice on the ground. I slipped yesterday but had Pete to hold on to so I didn't fall. Spring is almost here. ;) Take care of yourself.

March 5th WW is having the American Cancer Society in every center where people can just walk in get weighed & have their BMI checked out.

I'm looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. I always say that I wish I could retire but I think I would get bored. We don't have money to splurge. If we retired with money then that would be a different story. Right now we're living pay check to pay check.:( <sigh> We have everything we need thank God.

Till later:)

Hi everybody.
Bruce updtaed the PC so I had to give it up for awhile. :(
I get alot more now though like powerpoint, excell etc...
I love it.

Es,
How is your toe? I winced when I read that. Poor thing.
Keep us informed about your sweet little cat. Hope you are better soon.

Zoe,
Congrats on that small gain and I am glad you are back. Glad you had a great time. So glad to hear about your mom. Give her our best.

Dianne,
I hope you are all better now. What a time.

Janie,
I am so glad Ellen is better. When it rains it pours.
Congrats on your loss. You are getting there.

Sandy,
That is great about the veggies. Getting all that food and just getting cozy for the snaow sounds so nice. I remember that when I lived in Ohio. I loved it. My mom got 4 feet. They live on a hill and they always get more than the ones in town. The town got abot 35 inches, Unreal. My mom said it was close to the 1950 blizzard. They got 55 in. then.

Donna,
I love Pampered Chef. The food there can be sinful. Glad you had a good time.

Jen,
I hope you enjoyed your walk. That was awful about those two nightclubs. Then yesterday the TOYS R Us in Maryland collapsed.
It is heartbreaking.

I'll talk to y'all later.

Allright! Zoe, Dianne, and Ruth all back at once :D good to hear from all of you.

Zoe,
what a great feeling it must be to return home from such a great vacation with no guilt! 1 pound, when faced as a gain after a week-long cruise, seems really insignificant, doesn't it? way to go. Glad you had a good trip. Glad your Mom is enjoying a quick recovery, she sounds like a strong woman.

Dianne,
I've been thinking of you; it must be rough to face work each day with friends and associates no longer there. There is so much incertainty now. Are you feeling better? That lousy flu is everywhere!!! take good care of yourself :balloons:

Ruth,
I really like WW Online, in spite of the fact that I have some computer glitches with it that have yet to be resolved. I don't regret having joined it. I love the online journal and banking system. Previously I never used a bank. I was missing alot!

Terri,
glad you're back after your puter update. We bought a new one last June, but are having a few minor problems with it. That's when Joey earns his laundry....he's my computer support, is handling the repairs/corrections/warranty snafus :D
So many people have gotten lots of snow! My sister, who moved to Arkansas last April, has more snow than we do here in Illinois

Jess, Michael, and the boys spent the weekend here; we had a great visit. Matthew is talking up a storm; Brandon is reading voraciously...a boy after my own heart!

I have had a fairly bad week, points-wise. Today I was debating about even weighing in tomorrow, but decided I'll face the music and post it here....no avoiding it.....no excuses. I've put too much into this to go the other way now, it's been 8 weeks. And I'm proud of what I've accomplished in those 8 weeks. The weight definitely does not come off as easily as it did back when I was in my 30's, or even as it did 5 years ago. I don't care how long it takes, I'll stick with it and not give up.

see you tomorrow...have a good week,
~Jen

Well, it was as I feared...at WI I had a gain of 2 lbs. :o
I could see it coming, as I was becoming laid-back about drinking all my waters, and "eyeballing" some portions rather than measuring when in doubt.
I can't even blame it on TOM anymore! tho I know some salty snacks yesterday didn't help. Now I've got to just buckle down and make this a good week.

Janie,
did you have a weekend in the 70's? I can't wait for that, doesn't happen here until May. Hope you enjoyed it.

till later,

Hello, everyone!
Sorry this is going to be short. I have a lot to catch up on because you guys have been busy! I do want to say it was nice to come back to Zoe, Ruth and Dianne since we haven't heard from them in a while. Zoe, so thankful that all went well with your mom's surgery!!!

Our trip was nice inspite of the weather. It did allow us to be able to venture out into downtown Charleston, S.C. and do sight seeing and eat at a wonderful seafood restaurant. In fact, I did more eating last weekend than in the last few months I think! So.... No weigh in for me this week. I just can't face the music. Oh! BTW.. think my body is definately going through a pre big M time. I am over a week late in the TOM and it's driving me crazy! I have had abdominal cramping like I would have other wise but not the real "stuff"

Have loads of laundry to do and believe it or not I'm still receiving orders from the Pampered Chef party! So.... I'll write later.

Jen, don't worry about the two pounds... we will get it off again!!!! We have what... 8 weeks??

Jen,
I always felt on the days of weigh-ins the same way I felt on the first day of school. You know, fresh notebooks, new pens and pencils and that feeling of this time I will do it right. Getting back on and starting a fresh week is the right attitude. You'll get that 2 off next week.
That is so cute about your grandsons. Brandon and I have been watching old videos of him and Bradley when they were little and I cry. I love the ones where they are 4 and 2. These tapes are priceless. I have to force Brittany to look at hers. I just want to reach in the TV and squeeze them.

Ruth,
Hope you like on-line. I love it. Welcome back.

Donna,
I hope you feel better. Keep us posted. Glad you had a good time.

WELCOME BACK to all of you!!!!

Gals,
THe big news in my family is that I have a new Nephew. Alexander LeGrand, 7.5 lbs, 21 inches born yesterday around 12:30 eastern time.:bb: He is so cute!!! Of course I won't get to hold him until May since he lives in Delaware.

Terri,
So sorry to hear about Bruce's neck, hope it feels better soon.

Jen,
The weather didn't get quite up to 70 but in the high 60s it was a great day for a bike ride. We rode about 15 miles along the old "Iron Horse Trail." As you probably can guess it is an old railway line that is no longer used, that they built a bike trail along. It goes all the way across 2 counties and is supposed to be extended through a third.

They are very good about building and maintaining bike trails in the Bay Area. It was one of the things that we were not used to coming from the Northeast.

Sandy,
Thanks for the pep talk regarding coddling Ellen. I wasn't hard on her and I did tie her shoes and everything else she asked. I just know that i was
being taken advantage of and I found it kind of cute/funny. She would be sitting holding her hand as if in pain and then 5 minutes later I'd walk into the familyroom and she'd be doing a backward walkover. SHe was milking me for all she could get away with. ;)

Janie, I meant to say before how sorry I was about Ellen getting hurt. Bless her heart. (southern saying) But I mean it. I really felt very sad for her reading all that. Congratulations on being a new Aunt!!!
Terri, sorry about your dh's neck. My Jim has been having problems with something in his shoulder for a while. He said he was going to see about it this week.
Dianne, that was a lot of coworkers that they had to let go. I'm so sorry. Bitter-sweet news I'm sure about the stability of your job knowing of all your other friends without work. These are hard times.
Es, how are you doing? I sure hope you are feeling better and no more boo boos! ;)
Hi  to Jen, Sandy, Ruth, Zoe, LeeAnn! I'm sorry if I have left any one out.
I don't feel bad. What's driving me crazy is wondering what is going on with my body... :?: I know this happens when you enter that nice period of menopause. I just don't want to even think I'm pregnant. I have never had a child. My daughter is adopted. So, you guys can maybe understand what's going on in my head. If I am ... my I'm old... ! But if I'm not.. is it menopause? That sorta thing.

Hi:wave:

Donna, imagine if you were pregnant? My Mom had my brother at 40. I must say your post made me laugh;) I got tested & apparently I'm not going through menopause yet. I'm surprised cause my sisters went through it early. I'm not complaining.

Janie, congratulations! Babies bring so much joy. I love holding my niece. I hope you can see Alexander soon.

Terri, I know what you mean about starting fresh. I feel that way every Sunday. Points lady brought over a 3 day diet. I guess she's bored with WW. It's 3 days on 3 days off.

Jen, hang in there. You've been doing great. I stayed the same. I really thought I lost but hey there's always next week.

David's birthday is Sunday. He'll be 32. I can't believe it. It seems not long ago I was changing his diapers. :( Every month we have a birthday & you know what that means CAKE!!!!

Janie,
Congrats, Auntie! Hope the new little  and his Mom are doing well. That bike ride sounds cool. We're buying new bikes this spring, am looking forward to trying some of the bike trails around here.

Donna,
No help from me regarding menopause; I had a hysterectomy when I was 46, so I skipped it :D My Mom had my sister when she was 42, I was a grandmother at 42. Women truly have many years of worrying about babies, don't we? Good luck.

Es,
You'll be fine with the cake. Just one piece and then step away! Points lady ought to just stick with WW. Being patient is tough, we all want instant results.

Terri,
Thanks for saying the right thing. Mondays have always meant a fresh start for me, which is why I picked it as my WI day. Plus it usually keeps me honest over the weekend.

I'm ending today by banking 3 points :D Plus I totally forgot that this weekend we're going up to Wisconsin for 3 days with my brother and SIL. Ouch! this is really going to be challenging. I'm bringing Lean Cuisines for lunches, we usually eat dinners out. We're also bringing microwave popcorn and plenty of fruit and water. I'm planning to do no damage and post a loss on Monday.

Good Morning Buddies:flow2:

Welcome back Zoe, Dianne, and Ruth

Zoe, I was glad to hear your mother did well with the surgery, I wish her a continuing recovery. I was really excited to see you back from your cruise with a mere pound gained, Way to go!!

Dianne, it is good to see you back again. You sure have had a rough spell. It is really hard to see so many changes and job losses. I hope things work out for your colleagues from the school.

Ruth, how's the grandbaby doing? Tell us about your courses this term too.

Janie Welcome to your new little nephew. How exciting, I imagine you can hardly wait to see the family. That is too funny about Ellen, I didn't realize she was milking her injury for some extra attention.

Donna I am sure going through that preM too. At first my cycles got closer together, then they got further apart, and now there seems to be no predicting them at all. I have less of the PMS symptoms most months, and then all of a sudden whoops, I have them bigtime again. I just turned 50 in December and I am ready, I think, to be done with it. The only thing is I wonder will having them longer keep me younger?

Jen That 2 lb, was probably partially water weight because of the salty snacks. Good job getting back on right away, we are in this for the long haul now!

Es How could David be 32?? Enjoy some cake and then step away as Jen said :D

Hi Terri Thanks for all your encouragement to everyone. Enjoy those guys, they are super whatever their ages.

Not much is new with me, I am still working lots and lots. We really need to be careful with funds. Mike's job is not so secure as it used to be. They have had some layoffs, and are doing a lot of cost cutting measures, such as reducing benefits. I used to think of what I brought with my part time work as gravy, but now I am putting it away for a rainy day.
I plan to visit my mom on Wednesday, she is doing fairly well back in her own house, she has some really nice neighbors, and she also uses the services of the Council on Aging.

:high: to all for being here together TTFN

Aunt Janie - congratulations! Doesn't Alexander LeGrand translate into "Alexander The Great"? How  is that!!! You must be thrilled.

Es - how is little Karinna (sp??) doing? How old is she now?
She must be soooooooo cute!

Ruth - I still don't know whether you have a new grandson or granddaughter!!! Someone clue me in please.

Okay, now:

Thanks everyone for welcoming me, zoe and ruth back to the fold!
I always miss you guys when I'm not posting, but there always seems to be something going on and I keep waiting and waiting to post and then don't. I'm gonna try and get better at this. Its so helpful to come here and I love talking to all of you about the things going on in your lives.

I am home today, went to the doctors yesterday and I have ...... guess..............? willie's upper respiratory infection and to top it off a case of "pink eye". Do not even ask me where I got that from. Anyway, I started antibiotics yesterday and eyedrops, so hopefully, this will be over soon.

Es - I meant to tell you that I didn't go out the day of the storm (I'm crazy, but not that crazy :dizzy:  ) I went to work the next day, since the University decided to stay open. Every other university and school in the area was closed, but mine wasn't.
Happy advanced birthday to David :hb: ! And how is your stomach flu? Hope you're feeling better amiga.

Jen - You must have had a great time with the boys. Everytime I visit the grandkids, especilly Jessa, I have a ball. She calls me "Dan" cause she can't say gramma Dianne, :smug: She's soooooooo cute!

Terri - I hope Bruce's neck is all better. I know what you mean about watching the videos of the kids when they were little - I too want to reach in and squeeze them. I miss them at that age.

Donna - I think I've started the whole pre-menopause thing cause I didn't get my period for 3 months straight and when I told the doctor she said let's do a pregnancy test! I thought she was out of her mind!!! Especially since I had a tubaligation almost 20 years ago, right after Alana was born. Thank God it was negative. But thankfully I haven't had any other of the "wonderful" things that can happen, like hot flashes, cold sweats, etc. I hope it stays that way - I don't mind missing my period for 3 months in a row, I was only sorry to see it come back:s:

ZoeGirl - Are you back in the swing of things after that cruise? I'm really glad to hear your mom's doing well.

Hey Sandy - seems like ages since I've spoken to you. I'm glad to hear your mom is doing better too. Oh, and I've been meaning to ask what does "TTFN" mean?? I'm a little computer illiterate, lol.

Hi to LeeAnn and Cindy - are you guys still with us?

Well, let me go lay down for awhile, I'm supposed to be resting so I can get my butt back to work tomorrow.

Talk to you's soon.

Hugs,
Dianne

Hi everyone,

DIANNE, the new grandbaby is a little girl. Her name is Brittany Paige Lee, she weighed 7 lbs 7 ozs and she was 18 3/4 inches long. She will be 3 weeks old on Thursday.

You know this is our fifth grandchild with number six to be born in May. Give me a few more years and I'll catch up to you!! LOL

Oh, I hope you get to feeling better soon.

ESSIE, wish David a "Happy Birthday" from us. My oldest will be 26 this year, and you are right, it seems impossible.

How is work today? I remember it's Tuesday, not your favorite day of the weeK!!

SANDY, I am so happy to hear that your mother is still doing well. I remember when you first joined us, she has come a long way since then.

As for school, I'm taking 12 hours this semester. The courses I'm taking are English (creative non-fiction), Managment (Business Communication), Speech and Economics. So far, I'm maintaining A's and B's. I guess my days of straight A's are over. Oh well!!

JEN, I feel really dumb. I was so young when I had my hysterectomy that I don't even remember wondering about menopause. I only had a partial, I still have my ovaries, so how will that effect menopause? Guess I need to make an appointment with the gyn.

TERRI, are you guys getting more snow or sleet today. It just missed northwest Louisiana, but I think it was headed in your direction.

DONNA, I hope you find out what is causing your problems soon. It can be frustrating when something is wrong and you have no idea what is wrong.

JANIE, congrats on the new nephew. Great name. Someone pointed out that it translates into Alexander the Great. That is so neat.

ZOE, congrats on the maintaining while on vacation. I mean, 1 lb on a cruise, that is unbelievable. I'm so proud of you.

How is the weather? Are you iced in today? Shreveport didn't get any of the ice, just rain.

Well, I better run, I need to post my lunch to the ww jounal.

Bye,
Ruth

Ruth, you remembered me & Tuesdays. It wasn't too bad today. I was very busy so I didn't have time to think about my worse day of the week. Thanks for asking. ;) Wow! Six grandchildren. Must feel great to be a grandma. I had a partial hysterectomy too. Mine was in 1992.

Dianne, Karinna is beautiful. She has big bright blue eyes. All my brother's kids are good looking but she's the prettiest little thing. She had the stomach flu too. She's 5 months old. Amiga, I hope you feel better soon. :( It seems like so many people have been sick lately.

Terri, I don't mind the snow but I hate the ice. I won't drive in it. They were saying we might get more snow Friday but I don't think we're getting it now. Is Bruce feeling better?

Sandy, I was 17 yrs. old when I had David. A baby raising a baby. I guess that's why we're so close, more like brother & sister. Sounds like Mom is doing well. That's good news.

Jen, I busted the Points Lady today. Her cheek looked very puffy but I didn't say anything. As I walked by her she shows me what she was eating - a MOUNDS CANDY BAR! As if I care. I guess she felt guilty cause she told me this morning that she started her 3 day diet. I'm going to plan for the cake Sunday. I will have a small piece. It's hard to walk away cause I'll be serving it. I'll be good. I promise. :D

I'll be back tomorrow.

Goodnight:wave:

Love,
Es

I want to thank you all for sharing with me your experiences or non-experiences in the menopause department. I still have not seen a period and kinda reluctant of buying one of those home pregnancy tests. I really feel that it's the big pre-M because... well I just can't imagine being pregnant. I know it's possible but I just can't imagine.

Es, Happy Birthday to your David! You WERE very young weren't you when he was born!!! Cool! I feel the same way as you do about the ice. Love snow, hate ice and we are supposed to have some of that icy stuff tomorrow morning. :yikes:

Ruth, your grandbaby sounds beautiful! :bb: And I love her name! I think A's and B's are great! I am really impressed! :smug:

Zoe, how are you today? I may have missed your post, sorry!

Terri, you hit the nail on the head. Yes, I'm scared of taking the pregnancy test. I don't want to feel let down. Since I've never been pregnant any time in the past I felt I could of been I was so disappointed and went through some depression. I know it sounds silly because really I don't feel that I am pregnant. I hope your hubby is better soon. Sorry the kids were out of school today and they were so upset!

Dianne, my sil said she had soy during her menopause and never had one bit of hot flash or mood swings and had a smooth transistion! I need a smooth transistion! I'm glad you were not disappointed when you had that test done. It makes sense that you weren't when you had a your tubes tied.

Sandy, I don't know if prolonging it all keeps us younger longer. That would be nice. My doctor said you can go through pre-m for years before it will even show up in the blood work as far as the hormones go. Isn't being a woman so much fun!

Jen, you sound so positive about this coming weekend! I admire your state of mind! I have done good all week so far. (it's just Tuesday) and I went to my aerobic class this am and also worked out on the bali balls. I love those things. I know with that kind of will power you will succeed in seeing a loss on Monday. I feel I will too.

Janie, my daughter uses that kind of tactic on me whenever she can. It is cute till you step back and realize how controlling this little person is and how she controls ME! They are only young once and I think we should mother them as long as we can. One time Elena told me that she felt sorry for me because I didn't have my mom any more! It touched my heart!

We are on the sixth page now. Are we going to start a new thread?

Have a good evening everyone!
