Good Morning Chicks! I slept late and finally got rid of my 3 day migraine. Well, most of it anyway. I'm going for cut and color soon and Jim and Brodie will stay home and relax. It's been a busy couple of weeks.

Have a great day!

Will be off the forum for a little while.

We went out yesterday, it was blazing sun with no shade. Mark is a sun worshipper, so I was a bit surprised when he was the first to say he had enough walking around, usually it is me. We headed back to the car, had the A/C on all the way home but he looked really poorly.

Our doctor came to see him and he said that he was 99% sure it was the sun, but he thought he heard something in Mark's chest that shouldn't be there and has referred him to cardiology for X-ray, ECG & ultrasound and then go on to the cardiologist who looked after him when he had his heart attack in 2009. His pulse and BP are fine and the doctor said not to worry, it was probably the sun. The nurse in me, knows this is very true and could even be a faulty stethascope:D That's happened before now BUT the wife side of me is very worried.

JoJo, I understand your concern. I am also worried about Curtis. I will keep you and Mark in my prayers that it was just sun exposure and he's all right.

Nancy, I agree that animals mourn. I am so sorry for your suffering. I wish I lived close by and could come visit.

Vickie, thank you for the recipe. It looks delish!!

Maryann, I'm worried about our energy bill, too. :yikes:

Got to close for now. Dinner's ready. Ya'll have a good evening.

Geez, Chicks! I'm worried about EVERYTHING. I'm worried about the economy and continuing to get our federal pension checks every month and my family and friends and our health. Sure did succumb to some Chicago style pizza tonight. At least I didn't have any lunch before I ate it. I'm done for the evening. Oh yeah....it's been hotter than blazes here and more heat is on the way. I'm worried about our gas/electric too. Sheesh.

Hope you are all well.

Vickie..I am a worrier too. Robin used to watch the news for hours every night and Glen Beck had me pretty sure that the sky was falling each day. I have to say that listening to music has been much better for my nerves than the news.

JoJo..I am praying that things are fine. Sounds like he got good quick care .
Maybe it was the sun and he just heard a harmless murmur. Take care of yourself too so you can care for him.

I am not a Pollyanna by any means, and can be very cynical. BUT, Chickies, lift your spirits, don't turn them over to anyone else. Listen to good music, feed birds, feed your body good food, and PLAY.

Good Morning Ladies:)

The temps are 71 and with the humidity of 29.9,but it suppose to hot & muggy again. Hope the Melody Tent is just a name and has A/C in the building. The show starts at 3 PM until 6PM,which is the heat of the day.

RHONDA-Thanks for the new pages

SANDRA-If this heat continues we are going to have brown or black outs and if that happens there's not going to be an A/C or Fans to keep the heat from hitting us.So far we haven't had that experience,as they keep the trees trimmed and away from the electric poles.

AND FOR THE REST O YOU LADIES KEEP COOL AND DON'T EXERT YOURSELF IN THIS HEAT.

Morning chickie-doodles.

jojo, hope everything is fine with Mark. Hoping it's only from the heat.

Maryann, wish it would cool down here. Been close to 100 every day.

I am slowly putting on the pounds. My dr. told me to lose, and the scale is rising. yikes.

My sis has a mole that appeared on her face about 2 yrs ago. She finally saw a dr and they biopsied it. The nurse told her it looked like cancer and even mentioned melonoma. Now I'm worried for her. She will know this week if it is cancer. I go on the 9th to get my mole checked. To me, mine doesn't look like cancer, but it appeared less than a year ago and it's growing, so I need to get it checked. I remember burning over and over when I was a kid. We didn't have sunscreen back then.

edit: it's basal cell, whewwww. She goes tomorrow to have it removed.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Slept in as I had a very full day at the Irish Summer Festival. Picked my friend Rita at 1 PM and we didn't leave leave until 7 PM. I wanted to get home before dark and miss the last 3 hrs of fun.

This morning I was on the phone with my DD for 1 1/2 hrs. She's coming early on Sunday morning and she'll bring all her maps and brochures of Maine and we'll decide on Sun or Monday where will being going and make reservations for motels along the route .

Going to continue cleaning the rest of my basement and getting my laundry done, and than I will be back on schedule for the things to do list.

PAM=Sorry about your high temps and humidity to go along with it. Hope that there will be some relief your guy in the south and mid west. I think the only thing that like this heat is the tomato plants I have more tomatoes on two plants, and I think after they turn red,I'll give some to my friend and the rest I will have to make tomato sauce out of most of them.

EMS-BIG BIG CONGRATS:cheer2: on achieving a birthday weight loss goal of 31 lbs that excellent. Enjoy your 80's party. I love the music from the 80's as my DD & I each other company and I went to concerts with her like Duran Duran & The Police but once she like Hard rock groups like Bon Jovi and Poison I stopped going with her. Today we both listen to 80's.50's & Country. I'm down to 165.5 at last Sat WI day, like to get down to the 150,so I have 15.5 pounds lift.

SANDRA-Glad that your pampering your self. That's not a bad thing,I think the more we do so the better we feel. I have no nails for a manicure as my nails break when doing housework. My sister told me to take gelatine tablets as the makes the hair & nails grow stronger, but so far it hasn't helped.

Have a great day got to start my laundry

Maryann, glad to hear you're having fun.

weight..

When son was gone for 2 weeks in early july I ate super heathly and didn't have junk at the house. lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks. 152 to 148. Now he is here and i munch on pizza he & friends order & chips they pick up.
When he brings fast food back I beg like a dog for a fry or 2 LOL.
Even if I have better choices in the frig I tend to have one bite every time I pass the kitchen .

So..I am just going to hang in there another few weeks & not worry about it and when he leaves for college send any snacky stuff with him. Then I think I can stick to a plan.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Another day of cleaning and straighten up before my DD arrives. Couldn't get anything done when the humidity was so high. TG for a breather that I can get the job done now.

My movie buddy is going to take her grandson to the movies and than out for a free dinner at 99. The kids are free when the Red Sox the night before win. Want to see Harry Porter but my Grand children saw it already,so I guess I have to go to the movies but myself,as none of my friends like those kind of movies.

SANDRA-The Zoo Keeper was a good movie for my friend Mary is going to take her grandson to see it for the second time. I going to see Harry Potter even if I have to see it by myself. Have a great time.

RHONDA-Thanks, I like to keep myself busy and than go out and socialize with my friends. That's the only way I can become stronger, and not to whither like I saw so many people have done after a lose. Life goes on & you have to become strong.

NANCY-Wow that a great total of weight lose in weeks. I guess company will do that. My DD & DGC are coming up to visit I hope that I will watch myself of what I'm eating as its so easy for me to get back to the 170's again.

EMS-My favorites was Simon and Nick,my DD loved John. I like their songs & videos in the beginning when they started the band in 1982 but after the 1990's their songs we getting rough and that when I left. My DD than went on to Bon Jovi and Poison . She now likes the 50 and 30 Big Bands. Hope I can survive when my DD & I go on vacation eating out always gets my weight up.

Had a nice dinner with good family friends last night. They cooked authentic indian food ..yumm

MaryAnn..wish we lived closer..I need a movie buddy. Robin and I went to the dollar theater every week.

Last night a friend texted at 3am with a bad dream..I could not focus my eyes
to text for 15 minutes..Strange.. It has happened a few other times when I needed to take a call when first waking up and couldn't see the phone numbers.

MaryAnne..you are a good inspiration for me ..How did you find so many friends to go do things with. Thank you all for your messages. Itís nice to know you are there. Nothing conclusive at the cardiologistís. They have done more tests, results next week. Mark has also been referred to an allergist, dermatologist and ENT specialists so it is just a matter of waiting and I always find that the most tiring. Last night was hot and humid and the farms around us were crop cutting through the night. He coughed and spluttered all night, which could point to hay fever. Iíd rather something along those lines that a more sinister diagnosis. Will let you know as soon as we know something.

Our church has a singles group (thats where I met Robin) but the guys in that group usually make a pest of themselves.

NANCY-Thanks, I always had my choir /brunch friends[down to 3] and which one of the woman Mary and I are Movie buddies. The same group plays canasta. Alice & I met in the bereavement group at the senior center her sister passed away at the same time as Leo. We had 2 other woman in the BG but after a while we weren't compatible with them,so we broke up with them. Met my friend Rita at a October-fest at the senior center. She was alone at one table and I at another.I approached her as asked if I could join her. There was another woman that joined us,but like the other two, we had nothing in common with her. All of these woman are either widows or divorcees. My married friends seemed to shy away from me.So I needed new single friends.

Maryann, I liked "Zookeeper" and also would like to see "Harry". Wish I could go with you. I'd take Curtis but he'd be fussy about folks texting.

SANDRA-I think I liked Harry Potter better,as I kept up with all the movies in the series. Our theater is a pub/cinema and we have individual tables with club seats and don't see anyone texting.

We're in the midst of getting new internet service. The computer geek (that's what he calls himself) just left to get more equipment. Hopefully, this will be faster, less expensive service. That's how it's advertised. My son told us about this. It's a local company. Wish us luck!

Maryann, that's good advice you've given Nancy about joining the group.

Nancy, also there might be a Sunday School class or local "traveling" group. I know ladies from here take a lot of chartered trips together.

I want to visit a few out of town friends & family so that will be something to keep me busy also.
I would love to learn to camp & fish & kayak at the beach. I just saw some really neat outdoor programs that the NC aquariums do. The problem there is that I don't have friends that like to do that sort of thing. That will be my goal.
To make some new friends that like outdoor things.

NANCY-Your welcome I'm always here to ask questions as I went though this 1 1/2 years.I found that the only way to meet people is to join clubs or organizations, this way you see then every week and its easier to make friends than just going out to dances where the people change every week.

SANDRA- Oh the troubles computers get into. That's the reason that my DGC can touch my computer as I have a Mac and they don't have any protection like the PC's have.

Good ideas..I have done some hiking & kayaking with Meetup Groups in my area. If you have never heard of them..Google them. They group people with the same interest in every imaginable area. Very organized.
I don't enjoy being around the partying type and i have run into that with some of the REI groups. My church does lots of outdoor things but its always just for the men. Robin wanted me to talk to them about offering some of the outdoor trips for the ladies.

Some day that would be amazing to see more of our country and come to Texas . Most people want to travel overseas but I want to see more of the USA first. Some day we should all rent a beach house for a week and plan a

Rhonda..I didn't mean that they all party..just that i will have to watch out for
that.

I have a stacked stone wall on both sides of the front walk that was not built very well and lots of the top stones are off & parts of the wall (1ft tall) is crumbling.
A guy came today and said it would cost me big to have them fix it.
I decided to try to use landscape adhesive and glue the top pieces back on.
Some places I have to go down a few deep to get the top just right.
Its hard work , I only got 2 yards done and I was exhausted, but I did it !!!

I only have another 200 yards to go :yikes:

For my attic project I came up with a way to sort the boxes in the garage
which is working out much better than doing it in the attic.

. My plan is to do 2 attic boxes per day and an hour a day of this stacked wall. Hopefully I can get both finished in a month or 2.
