Unhappy Back @ it... but getting NO WHERE

Okay I wanted to post yesterday but was exhausted after I got in but.... Yesterday was my first day working out in 5 years (crazy I know) it almost killed me for the 28 minutes I was on that machine.

Today I did it again and it was 75% better than yesterday for some reason but then I tried to find other things to do in the gym and felt so out of place But im trying although I feel so defeated.

I was also thinking how am I going to lose any weight working out for such a short amount of time ughhhh I feel defeated and this is only the beginning. Then to top it off I feel like I have no support its hard me pushing myself sometimes u want the ppl u love to help motivate u 2 know u have supporters in ur corner and I dont feel that @ all.

I lost weight just doing JM 30 day shred and thats was only a 30 minute video. Eventually I made my way up to longer workouts. Take it slow get used to working out, eventually you'll be able to last longer.

You started YESTERDAY! Give yourself a break! Holy Moses! It's awesome that you made it through. I, like Miz, started 30DS & I didn't make it thru the warm-up the first time. Exercise isn't easy - you have to sweat & push your body. That's how it works.

And it is extremely daunting looking at the total you have to lose which is why you HAVE to focus on the mini-goals. I reward myself for each mini-goal so that I have something to look forward to. Also, this is a lifestyle change - it takes time & dedication. I know the motivation is to lose weight, but if you see it as making your life better & living healthy, your approach will be different.

Give yourself a break!!

That's great that you started. Stay with it and you will be successful. One thing that helped me at the gym was that I went with a list of exercises to do. You can pull them from the internet or book, etc. But I would do arms. shoulders one day and legs another. I listed about 4 exercises and would do 2 or 3 repetitions of the same exercises at a time. It made my life easier and I was successful at working the whole body during the week.

At first, I didn't know the names of the exercise so I learned what they were....beleive me, I got flyes, rows and presses all confused. but eventlually I learned what they were and its become easier. Good luck!

You can also try Couch to 5k if you get bored at the gym. Good way to start running if you're into that sort of thing. Also don't be afraid to talk to the trainers there if you feel your form isn't right. Getting injured is the biggest set back and their job is to help you! If you can afford it try a couple of personal training sessions to get you started and figure out exactly what you should do to get maximum weight loss and muscle toneage (if that's a word)

Thanks for all the positive feedback since the ppl I care about isn't this helpful but yes I know it's only the beginning and I was thinking since I wasnt that tired yesterday after doing the elliptical maybe I can add an aerobics dance class then go on to do my 28min fat burner exercise on the elliptical.

@ glitter I was going to stay last night to do more but @ the club I go to (NYSC) they have something called express line which I was trying to use the arm machines and didn't know which ones were the correct ones so I gave up plus couldn't find anyone I felt comfortable asking to help LoL

But this is only the beginning I am going to stick by it and hope @ the end of the month I lose something.

Real weight loss happens with food reduction. There are a lot of people who have lost a lot of weight through diet alone. I see my exercise as an added bonus on top of my eating plan (weight watchers) and as a way to keep me healthy and strong and flexible. The real key is making sure that every day you are on plan with your eating.

As you wrote on your blog, this is a lifestyle change. If you are feeling defeated after 2 days, what's going to happen after a week? Just do what you can do, and when you can do more, do more.

You managed 28 mins on the elliptical on your first day? Thats awesome! When i first started i could only manage 10 or maybe 15 mins on the lowest resistance. Now, 10 months latter, i can do 30 mins on 8 fairly easily but only 15 on 9 so i do 15 on 9 and 15 on 8 and at the end of the half hr am relieved to stumble off. I also usually do an hr on it once a week rrotating between 6 -9

for most of my journey i only did cardio and calorie counted, i only recently added weight training as a routine thing and not a once in awhile thing and im down about 55 pounds so far so you can get results wiith short workouts as long as your diet plan is there.

I couldn't do 10 whole minutes on the elliptical when I started! Take a deep breath and accept that those initial hurdles are just that and you WILL get past them. I still have days where I just don't know how I'm going to do it, but I figure it out. You will too as long as you just keep swimming

Also, don't be afraid to ask for help! I had someone approach me once and give me some pointers and I was so relieved and I wish that I had just asked as it would've saved me a lot of time and trouble. Heck, I've had people ask me how to use the elliptical and I loved being able to help.
