Goal Photo Album - Reached goal, 6 months post-partum

My original goal was 5'5 and 125lbs but once I reached around 133lbs, I've realized I'm pretty much there.

My first set of pictures is 6 weeks post-partum, I gained over 40lbs :o at 165lbs when I left the hospital, and yesterday at 134lbs.

I did 5 months of heavy heavy weight training, little cardio (mostly dog walking with baby in sling), and kept on my meal plan. I also fell off the wagon a bit with postpartum depression (I ate!) but I managed to get through it.

That is excellent. What weight training routines did you do? Squats, bench, rows?

My main exercise is the squat (I now do 3x5 at 115lbs with my full warmup sets before), bench (struggling but at 3x5 65lbs), haven't done too many rows, I do pullups (assisted) instead for some variety, and then press as well as deadlift (I do 1 heavy set 1x5 rather than 3x5).

I have followed this meal plan below (different foods often but the same cals etc) and I do a full body workout 3x a week
Cals: 1510
Fat: 50g
Carbs: 95g
Protein: 170g

Breakfast

 150g of egg whites
 1 whole egg
 1 tbsp sugar free ketchup
 coffee w 1 tbsp fat cream & splenda
 1 tsp of olive oil
 15g of oatmeal + sweetener and cinnamon


Mid Morning

 1 scoop Gaspari Myofusion
 slice of Ezekiel raisin bread
 15g of Natural Peanut Butter

Lunch

 2 slices of Sesame Ezekiel bread
 28g of avocado
 4 slices of natural selections turkey breast
 1 slice of light provolone
 1 cup of lettuce
 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

 150g of Greek Yogurt
 35g of frozen berries
 10 Almonds

Dinner

 2 pieces of Tilapia
 6 sprigs of asparagus
 2 tsp olive oil

Before Bed

 125g Cottage Cheese
 1 tbsp of sugar free strawberry jam + 1 sweetener


Workout example: (last week)

Not really. I exclusively pumped for the first month, combo-fed after that and then stopped after 2 months. The majority of the changes happened after I stopped pumping. My son had a lot of complications after the birth (hence the pumping) so I had a lot of stress the first few months. Once he started getting better and the stress reduced, I found that helped speed things alongl.

Ummm... I want your a$$! You look incredible! Krampus is right - you belong on a fitness magazine. I have a 6 month old baby girl, and I've been working on getting my weight under control too. You are a huge inspiration to me. I just started doing weights 3x a week - I know that's where the transformation will happen. Plus, I HATE cardio.

Sacha I noticed that you ate over 400g of protein. Would I have to eat that much protein to gain muscle? I thought to gain muscle, I would only need 1g of protein per pound.......

400g? No I had 170g. 1.5g/lb bodyweight. 1g/lb is just fine though! I preferred higher protein lower carb.

Sacha you are truly an inspiration to me. I thought about treating myself to a REAL weight set. your menu is fabulous and your routine is great. I also love you still have womenly curves. I have a much higher starting pt. and blood sugar issues, but i'm going to try to work my way up to something like this.

Wow, what an inspiration. I love that you did this without endless cardio. I like adding some sprints sometimes but I never want to go back to tons of cardio. That is just me though. Some people LOVE to run and that is great. I get better results and feel strong when doing a weight routine like yours...now I just need to get back into a lifting routine. This is the motivation I need to lose my postpartum weight. I also have struggled with ppd and all i want to do is eat too!

Well, I'm back :( And not looking like my pics!

But that is OKAY because I just had the 2nd baby 2 months ago and I will get back to it again!!!! I am on plan and doing well. If anything, my 1st journey taugh tme that I *WILL* get there, with hard work and consistency!!!

Looking at your original goal post has got me wanting to try weightlifting again. I have not really tried it tho since high school! Do you think those new rules of weightlifting books will be a good place to start? And how many days a week do you lift?

It's a great book! I really enjoyed it. It's also good for reading about myths, proper nutrition, etc. You'll like it!

Lifting....a hhhhh... these days?? Haha!! I work out every day, but that can be anywhere from a 15 minute stroller walk to 1 hour yoga and 40 minutes of heavy lifting. It really depends on what my kids (particularly the 14 week old) let me do :)

4x a week lifting and 4x a week cardio (2x intervals, 2x long dog walks) are what I normally do, and will again, when these boys let me.

So, I stay on track with nutrition.

Here's my progress so far! 3 months after #2 and about 11lb loss (from that last picture, 147-136lbs)
